September 29, 2002 - Us Weekly reports that before Alyssa Milano started dating Justin Timberlake, she gave the *NSYNC star a test to see if he was worthy. "She asked Justin to name five Beatles albums and to name two songs off each of them," said an insider. Timberlake passed. Don't expect Milano to confirm this story though, as a source revealed that during her recent interviews for her TV show 'Charmed', radio DJ's were warned in advance that there could be "no questions about Justin, or if they asked a Justin question, she'd hang up," according to a source.

September 29, 2002 - Gemma Tarlach of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel profiled teen pop idols Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera and country girl LeAnn Rimes, all whom want to emphasize their independence and maturity with their new albums. On Timberlake, Evan Serpick of Entertainment Weekly commented, "He's not as talented as Michael Jackson, obviously, but I think three years from now, his albums will still be selling. September 29, 2002 -  Reports that Pepsi would back the space trip for *NSYNC star Lance Bass don't look too promising of the New York Post is correct. Published reports say Pepsi is shopping around a proposed new reality TV show where contestants would compete for the chance to trek into the final frontier as part of a future Russian Soyuz shuttle mission to the International Space Station. September 28, 2002 - While photos from CelebrityVibe showed Justin Timberlake looked like he had a great time at Serafina on Wednesday, the *NSYNC star almost wasn't served because of his thrifty habits. Timberlake eventually got served when a daring young waitress went to his table, but she noted, "I always get his credit card first."

September 28, 2002 - In an interview with UK's Sneak magazine, *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake opened up about his split with Britney Spears, though still resisted providing details on what ended their romance. Justin said after reading a magazine feature from March on his split with Spears had triggered huge outburst of pent-up misery. "Two days ago I read this article and it just got me," he recalled. September 28, 2002 - Cameron Albert Duty pleaded not guilty on Thursday to the murder of 21-year-old Medina, WA resident Anna White, who was tragically killed outside of the KIIS FM studios waiting to see *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake. Duty, 23, is in jail on $1 million bail. He was ordered to return to Pasadena Superior Court on October 29 for the setting of a preliminary hearing. Read more.

September 27, 2002 - Alan Boyle of MSNBC.com reports the international space station have to be mothballed because the plan to send *NSYNC's Lance Bass there next month fell through. Energia space executive Valery Ryumin tells the Moscow Times that the Russian space effort would be in big financial trouble without the estimated $20 million that the singer’s backers were expected to provide. September 27, 2002 - Z100.com (WENN) reports *NSYNC star Lance Bass has denied reports that he threatened to kill himself after his mission into space failed earlier this month. A pal of the singer said he had become depressed and suicidal after the money deal for his dream trip to space had fallen through. September 26, 2002 - Variety reports *NSYNC star Lance Bass will appear in a new musical film called 'Nose Pickers From Outer Space.' Bass' production company bought the rights to the kids' book of the same name and plans to use a mix of live action and computer animation to bring the story to life. Bass hopes to appear in the film as one of the Nose Pickers, an alien race that carry computers up their noses. No word on when production begins on the project.

September 26, 2002 - MTV News spoke with Justin Timberlake about his debut solo album 'Justified', due November 12. The *NSYNC star says that while several guests cameo on the album, including Janet Jackson, Bubba Sparxxx, the Clipse, and others, he isn't doing it to help sell records. "All the collaborations happened in a completely organic way," he said. "I'm not a big fan of duets just for the sake of doing them. September 24, 2002 - Reuters reports that *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake is to act as a spokesman for an anti-drunk driving campaign following the death of Anna White, 21, one of his fans, outside Los Angeles radio station KIIS FM earlier this month. "The senseless death of Anna White yet again demonstrates the horrors of drunk driving. September 24, 2002 - Marc S. Malkin of New York Magazine reports a second round of Usher baiting *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake into a dance off occurred when Timberlake and Milano were on the dance floor at L.A. hot spot Deluxe. Four burly bodyguards cleared much of the floor so Usher could dance. Timberlake tried to talk with the R&B star, but he wasn't in the mood. Afterwards, Usher approached Timberlake and Milano's table and started dancing and motioning for Timberlake to join him. It seems Usher doesn't like Justin being billed the next Michael Jackson, since he's enjoyed that label himself. A rep for Timberlake says the two are friends and there is no Jacko related rivalry. Usher's rep gave a no comment on the report.

September 24, 2002 - MaryL of the abstracts.net message board was outside the MTV Times Square studios when *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake stopped by Total Request Live on Monday. September 24, 2002 - Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC stopped by MTV's Total Request Live to talk with Quddus and preview some tracks off his new album 'Justified', due out November 5. Justin said he's "dating everybody", including Alyssa Milano. He answered questions from fans in 'The Ringer', including whether he flexes in front of a mirror and what was his biggest regret in life. Someone yelled something (reportedly something about Britney) and Justin fumed, "Can we kick him out?!" Adding, "You are the weakest link. Goodbye." It must've been edited out of the west coast version or nothing was audible anyways. September 24, 2002 - Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin was on Fox News today where he was asked what he thought about *NSYNC star Lance Bass trying to take part in a space mission. Buzz said he was in support of Bass, and space tourism in general, since it spurs additional interest in space travel.

September 24, 2002 - Associated Press reports *NSYNC's Lance Bass is back at Russia's cosmonaut centre and will start a new training session Monday despite being excluded from the crew of a rocket heading to the International Space Station next month. Yuri Nikiforov, general director of Atlas Airspace explained, "He will not go in October for sure, but he just doesn't want to interrupt the program." Read more.

September 23, 2002 - A fan who met up with Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean on Saturday night when fiance Sarah Martin performed has fans *NSYNC fans buzzing -- and may explain why JC Chasez was wearing the Jive/BMG unfriendly onlyartist.com t-shirt at the MTV Video Music Awards. The fan wrote on whodamaninc.com: "...Someone brings up Justin Timberlake and AJ says that he really liked Justin's performance at the VMA's. I gave him this look like 'Are you serious?' Apparently he was. Okay, whatever AJ, lol. And then he says that he's been talking to JC a lot lately and that JC is really angry with Jive because they are putting all kinds of promotion and money into Justin's album but will not back JC at all. Someone else might own the rights to the name Fuman. Of course he might have more troubles than that, since FumanSkeeto.com was shuttered and the clothing line looks in limbo.

September 22, 2002 - Jon Caramanica, BET.com Deputy Music Editor wrote an open letter to *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake. In it, Caramanica says he's not most impressed with him for his new music, nor his relationship with Britney Spears, Jenna Dewan, or Janet Jackson, but instead the Alyssa Milano score. "Alyssa Milano? This, my friend, is the coup de grace," he said. September 22, 2002 - Alyssa Milano has commented to Entertainment Weekly about the photographers to shot pictures of her and Justin Timberlake leaving the *NSYNC star's home. "He's a lot more used to it than I am," Milano said. "If celebrities walk down a red carpet, paparazzi should be allowed to take pictures. If we're walking out of our homes, I am totally against it." Milano, who has sued a webmaster in the past for posting nude pictures of her, says she's considering a lawsuit in this latest case of invaded privacy.

September 22, 2002 - Justin Timberlake recently chatted with an Australian radio station about his debut solo album 'Justified'. Asked if the album had great success, would that mean the end of *NSYNC, Justin responded, "Well the last thing I’m gonna do is let the public or the media determine what’s the end of *NSYNC. I think we determine when the end of something is and we’re, I mean, we’re scheduled to go back in the studio next year sometime, to make another record. September 21, 2002 - Amazon.com sales rank figures show *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake having the most anticipated upcoming pop release with a sales rank figure of #94 with his solo debut 'Justified'. Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter sees himself in the #360 spot with his 'Now or Never' solo debut. September 21, 2002 - The Sun reports Nelly has said he would not date Britney Spears, because he is mates with her ex and *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake.

September 21, 2002 - Teen Scene magazine chatted with Aaron Carter about the looming album battle between his brother and Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter and rival Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC. Asked about 'Now or Never', Aaron commented, "I love all the songs. Nick is an amazing singer. I look up to him. He is great! He isn't going to be a flop. And I'm 99.9% sure that he will kick Justin Timberlake's butt." Asked if Nick is feeling some pressure to win the stand-off with Timberlake, Aaron said, "Well he really isn't even considered competition. Nick is a much more talented performer. *NSYNC wanted to be like Backstreet Boys. Now everytime my brother (Nick) does something Justin Timberlake is always following him. September 21, 2002 - Us Weekly reports *NSYNC star Joey Fatone was caught kissing his married 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' co-star Nia Vardalos, only two days after the ninth wedding anniversary of Vardalos and TV actor Ian Gomez. The pair were at New York bar the Cutting Room, along with their 'Wedding' co-star John Corbett and Chelsea Clinton, where a band was performing. A spy revealed Fatone and Vardalos "were making out in the back of the hallway by the band's dressing room. They were at it for about 10 minutes - in the plain sight of a few people." Fatone is currently dating long-time love Kelly Baldwin, who gave birth to their first child Brianna last year.

September 21, 2002 - WENN reports A.D. club goer Jennifer Thomas is demanding that *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake apologize to her after one of his bodyguards allegedly roughed her up. Thomas pointed out Alyssa Milano to her friends, who was with Justin. Jennifer complains, "His bodyguard behind me grabbed my arm and whipped it behind my back. I was shocked, scared and hurt." She eventually was let go by the bodyguard, and adds, "I could sue, but an apology should do." Read more.

September 21, 2002 - Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com spoke with Joey Fatone who revealed he's ready to reprise his role from 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' in the CBS TV series of the same name. "It's so funny. Originally CBS wanted nothing to do with us," Fatone said. "They wanted a whole different cast than the movie cast. Then the movie took off and they signed up everyone except John Corbett from the original cast for the show." As for rumors his other job with *NSYNC might come to an end, Fatone said, "I don't see it. We like each other too much. I don't think we'll ever break up."

September 20, 2002 - Alan Boyle of MSNBC.com reports *NSYNC star Lance Bass has been cleared to resume cosmonaut training at Russia’s Star City complex next week, according to sources. Meanwhile, negotiators are continuing to discuss whether he will get another chance at a made-for-TV space flight. While Lance will continue his training in the next few days, he would not train with his would-be crew members for the October mission. The sources said a similar Soyuz mission scheduled for next April loomed as a more likely opportunity, although some on Bass’ team were still holding out a shred of hope for October. Read more.

September 18, 2002 - WENN reports O-Town singer Jacob Underwood has labeled rival boy band *NSYNC "ugly". He sniffed, "There are a lot of bands that are ugly too. Like *NSYNC - they're pretty ugly." September 18, 2002 - A source close to the Lance Bass Russian space project told MTV News that the *NSYNC star will resume training at the Star City facility near Moscow on Wednesday, thanks to a nearly finalized sponsorship deal with Pepsi. September 18, 2002 - Rolling Stone magazine reports that *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake was nervous before his debut solo performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, so he spent the night before the show partying at Lot 61, at one point with Christina Aguilera. September 18, 2002 - MuchMusic spoke with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and asked him if he was single. "My status. I am single, I'm dating around," said Justin. September 18, 2002 - Alan Boyle of MSNBC reports the backers of a bid to put *NSYNC's Lance Bass into orbit said Tuesday that they are pressing ahead with the project, though chances for his flight to the international space station in October are slim. They now hope Bass can make an April flight. The frictions over Bass’ bid and the wider plan for a space reality television show, also reportedly involving Pepsi, may lead to a shift in the composition of the team pushing the effort forward, several sources told MSNBC.com. September 18, 2002 - Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter phoned into MTV's Total Request Live on Tuesday to debut his new video 'Help Me' on the show. Nick tells Quddus he doesn't "necessarily want to get involved in all the competition thing and everything" with *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake. September 18, 2002 - The Telegraph interviewed *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake who talked about his new album and the respect he has for the opposite sex. "There's so many things in this life that women go through that men will never experience, like childbirth. The Backstreet Boys outpaced *NSYNC in searches in August, as 203,624 searched for either Backstreet Boys, Backstreet, or BSB while 177,607 searched for all variants of *NSYNC (N Sync, N'Sync, etc.). Some groups no doubt were helped by their generic name (ie. Blue, Wave, and Five), while bottoming the list were groups such as Evan and Jaron, Vi3, Dakota Moon, and Northern Line. September 11, 2002 - MTV News reports *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and KIIS FM have issued statements following the tragic death of Burbank resident Anne White, who was struck by a drunken driver outside the KIIS FM studios where fans were gathered to catch a glimpse of Timberlake. "I am horrified to learn of the senseless death outside KIIS-FM last evening, and my family and I wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim," Timberlake said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with you." KIIS-FM also released a statement Tuesday: "KIIS FM extends its sympathy to the victim's family for their loss. September 11, 2002 - Associated Press reports a 21-year-old woman has been killed after she was hit and dragged by a drunken driver outside KIIS FM last night, where *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake was being interviewed. Pabst said after the Russians weren't letting Lance Bass fly into outerspace that we should "declare war against Russia." Why? "They have an opportunity to send *NSYNCer Lance Bass into space and they aren't letting him go because his sponsors didn't cough up the $20 million needed for his trip. HELLO? After imagining a fantasy scenario of Charlize Theron also being on the flight, Lomax talked about the possible commercial tie-ins and how it all could go up in smoke if the Russians are for real in their game of hardball. September 6, 2002 - The New York Post reports *NSYNC and 'Rent' star Joey Fatone and Marissa Jaret Winokur ('Hairspray'), two of Broadway's newest and youngest stars, will be the hosts of the annual 'Broadway on Broadway' concert, being held this year on Sept. 15. The 90-minute show begins at 11:30 a.m. in Times Square and will feature such stars as Vanessa Williams, Molly Ringwald, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Tom Wopat, Steven Weber, Kathleen Turner, Jason Biggs, and Anne Heche.

September 5, 2002 - MTV News reports Shakira, Juanes with Nelly Furtado, and Thalia will join Marc Anthony and Carlos Vives as performers at the third annual Latin Grammy Awards on September 18th. Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Love Hewitt, comedian Cheech Marin, actors Hector Elizondo and Esai Morales and singer Laura Pausini are the latest presenters added to the show, which will be broadcast on CBS. September 5, 2002 - Triumph the Comic Insult Dog's appearance on the red carpet at last week's MTV Video Music Awards, along with his Eminem run-in and subsequent press conference were featured on Wednesday's Late Night with Conan O'Brien show. Triumph chatted with *NSYNC's Joey Fatone, Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, and others, while cracking jokes at Christina Aguilera, Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs, Busta Rhymes, and others. September 5, 2002 - Conan O'Brien joked during his tonight show monologue on Wednesday, "The Russian space program announced that they have kicked out Lance Bass because, because of late payment, they've kicked him out. And in his place, the Russians are sending up a cargo container. That's true. Yeah, not only that, *NSYNC has also replaced Lance Bass with a cargo container."

September 5, 2002 - Celebrity Vibe has a photo of *NSYNC star JC Chasez with a girl who is being called his girlfriend, Brazilian Model Marcela. September 5, 2002 - The Mirror reports that Britney Spears told a German magazine her split from *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake was the split from hell. "It was awful, it really threw me off track. He was, after all, my first love," she admitted. Britney worries that she'll have a hard time finding another boyfriend. "The boys are either too shy to talk to me or they just want to use me," she said. "It's difficult to find a guy who loves me. Me the person, not Brit the star." Read more.

September 5, 2002 - Associated Press reports Ted Nugent has offered *NSYNC star Lance Bass to come to his Michigan ranch to teach him bow-hunting skills, at a cost of only $1 million. "Bass needs to quit worrying about going into outer space and embrace and celebrate life by learning how to kill his own food," Nugent said Tuesday. "A slab of flesh on the back of a deer is the finest source of protein on the planet." Read more.

September 4, 2002 - MirCorp has responded to Russia's space agency spokesman Sergei Gorbunov who nixed Lance Bass' planned trip to outer space next month due to "failing to fulfil the conditions of his contract." Mircorp said Tuesday (September 3), "The discussions continue between Celebrity Mission and our Russian colleagues. Meetings with the relevant partners took place today, September 3, and will continue tomorrow. We are very grateful for the support that we are still receiving from all our partners. We are extremely confident that we will reach a solution for Lance's historic journey. Lance himself remains absolutely committed to doing this mission."

September 3, 2002 - The New York Post reports *NSYNC star JC Chasez wasn't exactly treated like a star at the Star Room in the Hamptons Saturday night. The *NSYNC'er arrived as part of Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs' entourage, but after stepping out the back door to make a call on his cell phone, he got turned away by security trying to re-enter. "Do you know who I am?" Chasez demanded. Apparently he didn't.. "I don't give a [bleep] if you're George W., go the [bleep] around front and pay your $30," the guard blasted. Star Room chef Marc Elliot, who witnessed the incident said, "He didn't pull a Lizzie [Grubman]. He was cool about it."

September 3, 2002 - A member of the JJB forum claims to have spoken with Johnny Wright on the red carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards last week. Vixx x writes, "I asked how come Justin arrived separately etc and how does the future look for *NSYNC. He said its cos they are all doing their own thing." As for how the solo tour Justin Timberlake is planning and its effect on *NSYNC, she added, "He said 'Justin's gonna finish *NSYNC's album, go out on his  solo tour, then come back, then *NSYNC are gonna go on tour straight after'."

September 2, 2002 - The Sun reports not only has new Guns N' Roses guitarist Richie Fortus worked in Enrique Iglesias' band, but he also is credited guitar and bass on *NSYNC's album 'Celebrity'. The paper wonders if he has the rocker credibilty after being linked to the two pop acts.

September 1, 2002 - Simon Saradzhyan of Space.com reports MirCorp president Jeffrey Manber is denying a Russian news report that said Lance Bass' space flight may fail to materialize. He explained, "It takes weeks and months to complete the paperwork" after a corporate sponsor declares its preparedness to pay for the trip. A Russian space industry source says the Russian negotiating team might be willing to wait for more than one week before deciding whether *NSYNC star gets to make the space flight in late October. September 1, 2002 - Wondering why you didn't see any camera shots of Britney Spears while her former *NSYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake did his debut solo performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday? Fox News reports the singer was ushered out of the Radio City Music Hall during Timberlake's performance by her handlers, despite her repeated comments of how she was looking forward to it, precisely because she didn't want to be taped watching Justin on stage dancing with new gal pal Jenna Dewan.

September 1, 2002 - Christy Lemire of the Associated Press spoke with Carissa Rosenberg, entertainment editor for CosmoGirl! magazine, who says Lance's space flight — and other *NSYNC members' solo projects, such as Justin's upcoming solo album — don't necessarily spell the end of the group. "It's hard for anyone to maintain that level of stardom and success," she said. "I don't think the boy-band thing is the hot thing at the moment. They could get back together and it could be great, but at this point they need to do other things." Read more.

September 1, 2002 - Jim Farber of the New York Daily News gave his thoughts on the MTV Video Music Awards, making up his own awards along the way. *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake won the 'Most Flagrant Michael Jackson Impersonation' with Farber saying, "Justin Timberlake's performance of his first solo single. Worse, he didn't even imitate a classic, but Jackson's latest junk." As for the Scariest Intro of the Night: "Ladies and gentlemen, singer/songwriter Jennifer Love Hewitt." Read more.

September 1, 2002 - Tony Hicks of the Contra Costa Times reviewed the MTV Video Music Awards explaining the few highs and mostly lows of the show. Amongst the lows were the outfits worn by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson's "award", Jennifer Love Hewitt was introduced as "singer and songwriter Jennifer Love Hewitt," Avril Lavigne winning an award, and *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's first solo performance.
