she wouldn't have made that movie, don't you think? I mean, everybody knows
that what she should have made was [a movie like] 'Pretty in Pink.'" Read

writes "Teresa Gubbins from the Detroit Free Press recently reviewed both
Nick Carter's 'Now Or Never' and Justin Timberlake's 'Justified', saying
that both boys "are stuck in the '80s". She goes on to say that Carter
leans toward Def Leppard with a "surprisingly good" result and Timberlake
leans toward Micheal Jackson, which "would be impressive if it weren't
so icky". She rated Carter with 3 stars out of 4 and Timberlake with 2
stars out of 4. The entire article can be read here."
November 12, 2002 - NSYNC
star JC Chasez was on with Power 106's Big Boy on Monday Morning to talk

*NSYNC in my mind will never be on the back burner. I mean, that's where
it all came from," JC said. "That's where it all started and those guys
are my best friends in the whole world. But um, you know, it's just about
scheduling now, J's gonna be on tour during the summer and everything like
that. And we were thinking about working on something in the fourth quarter
already. It was kind of in that mind set, so that's plenty of time to do
whatever." Read the entire interview transcript here.

mummy. You’ve already taught me so much and I’ll never forget the true

November 8, 2002 - Tom Moon
of The Philadelphia Inquirer reviews Justin Timberlake's solo debut 'Justified'.
Moon says the *NSYNC star has "got material that saunters and swaggers
and lodges in the brain like the great radio songs of the early '80s. By
aligning himself with top-shelf urban hit-makers, he's positioned himself
so that when the inevitable wave of boy-band solo projects descends, he'll
already be established as the voice that doesn't need ohhing backup harmony,
the veteran who has paid his dues and is artistically (and financially)
secure enough to reformulate the tried-and-true again next time." Check

November 8, 2002 - MTV News
spoke with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake at the release party for 'Justified'
where he was asked whether the group would release another album. "I think
so," Timberlake said. "You know, you kind of have to follow the creativity
wherever it goes." Timberlake later implied that his creativity is heading
in the way of collaborations, including one with Mariah Carey on her new
'Charmbracelet' album. "I'm working on some stuff right now, but I don't
want to say too much about it, just in case," he said. "You know, sometimes
legal stuff gets in the way of that. I've been working with a lot of people,
though." A Jive Records spokesperson said Timberlake would tour in support
of 'Justified', but it wouldn't be until late next summer. Read more.
November 8, 2002 - Groovevolt.com
reports Justin Timberlake explained why his debut album 'Justified' came
about during *NSYNC's downtime. "I wasn't consciously trying to make a
non-*NSYNC record," he says "I was trying to make a multi-dimentional record;
a record that captured the vibe of my favorite time in music, the 60s.
For the six weeks that we worked on these songs, I got to live in my own
musical dream world and play a little hip-hop, a little old-school R&B,
and a little classic rock. It was so much fun, and I learned a lot about
making music in a totally different way then I'm used to." Read more.

November 7, 2002 - Jim Brachman
of Brachman.com shared his furious reaction to *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's
interview with Barbara Walters on Monday's 20/20. Brachman writes, "The
utterly inept Barbara Walters, who resembles an ancient Egyptian artifact
sans benefit of bandages and whose strange voice is only slightly less
annoying than a busy signal, allowed Justin Timberlake to tell what was
a hopelessly preposterous account of his breakup with Britney Spears. Perhaps
Walters was both desperate for ratings and desperately angry with Britney
for giving the infinitely more dignified and cerebral Oprah Winfrey the
interview that Walters begged for." Read more.

Popdirt.com stays on the *NSYNC theme for the new poll asking whether you
think Justin is beefing with his *NSYNC bandmate JC Chasez, or whether
if JC has a beef at all, it's just with Jive, not Justin. Of course JC
went to the 'Justified' release party, but no photos or Access Hollywood

copies of his debut album 'Justified' based on one-day sales, likely good
enough to beat out Eminem's new '8 Mile' soundtrack which topped the charts
this week. The sales figure was ahead of forecast and bode well for the
boy band star, especially when compared to the first week showing by Backstreet
Boys star Nick Carter, who failed to make the top 10 with 'Now or Never'.
November 7, 2002 - Barry
Schwartz of DiamondbackOnline.com reviewed *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's
debut solo effort calling 'Justified' the "best and most enjoyable R&B
album this year." Schwartz said, "In this age of watered-down and repetitive
production, so few albums can exhibit the consistency and diversity of
'Justified'. By employing the production of incomparable Neptunes and the
eccentric Timbaland, his credibility is kicked up 10 notches. The Neptunes
have shown a tendency to bring the best out of the artists with whom they
work. True to form, the duo's compositions, fusing hard rhythms with warm
melodies, bring the best out of Timberlake's distinct rhythmic vocal delivery."

and Christina Aguilera. On Timberlake, he comments, "It's not bad, especially
if you like pop/r&b. Almost all of the tracks are produced by either
Timbaland or the Neptunes, so it has a definite urban flavor. he's not,
as some fear, trying to rip off Michael Jackson." Read more.

November 6, 2002 - *NSYNC

to return to *NSYNC, Timberlake said, "Those are my friends, and they'll
always be my friends, and I would never turn my back on them … It's tough
for me to answer that question, because I don't want to come off sounded
pretentious. I don't think an *NSYNC record is all about me; it's about

November 6, 2002 - Globe

store. He dates Alyssa, rings up Britney on the pohne and he's out fooling
around with Christina." Pals of Alyssa though fear that she may be taking
the relationship a lot more serious than he is. "The truth is she's madly
in love with the guy," her pal said. "Alyssa's friends believe he's not
as serious about the relationship as her and may be setting her up for
a broken heart."
November 6, 2002 - Backstreet
Boys star Nick Carter also played DJ on Capital FM in London recently.
He too was asked about a rivalry between the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC.
"There's not! That rivalry was created by the press and all those people
in the media," Carter insisted. "We've known each other since we were young
guys. Even now when I'm doing a solo thing and Justin's doing a solo thing
we talk with each other. Now we're both getting to do one of our dreams
at the same time. There is no rivalry and I'm glad that the two groups
are in the music business because we both get a chance to show two different
sides to music and hopefully do a good job at it too." Carter even played
Justin Timberlake's track 'Like I Love You' while behind the mic. Listen
to Nick here.
November 6, 2002 - NSYNC
star Justin Timberlake took over DJ duties on Capital FM recently in London,
answering fan questions as well. Asked about the perceived rivalry between
Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, Justin said, "I can't honestly say that
I have ever felt any rivalry with the Backstreet Boys or Nick Carter. I
think it's more or less the press pitting us against each other. But as
the years have gone by I think people have noticed that we do have different
styles and they don't use the comparisons so much any more. To me there
was never any rivalry." Listen to Timberlake here.

this big, big Hollywood dish, big celebrity dish. The other day, Justin
Timberlake told a deejay on a New York radio station that Britney Spears
isn't a virgin anymore because he had sex with her while they were going
out. That's what he said. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, Timberlake says it wasn't a

Danton of the Hartford Courant reviewed the debut solo album from *NSYNC
star Justin Timberlake, and wasn't impressed. "If 'Justified' wasn't a
Timberlake release, there would be no hype because it's simply another
CD full of average material," Danton said. "The production is stellar,
if slick, and perfectly balanced between vocals and instruments. But not
even guest spots from Janet Jackson, Bubba Sparxxx and Brian McKnight can
make the songs compelling." Read more.

November 5, 2002 - Hip Online
chatted with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake in their latest interview. Justin
was asked if he felt competition with Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter,
especially after he was linked to his former girlfriend Britney Spears.
"If it’s extra for you then cool I’m, that really, I’m really indifferent
about that whole situation, I mean, obviously I’ve answered so many questions
about my personal life," Justin said. "At this point in my life, there
were things that I said probably two months ago that I probably don’t even
feel the same way about. As far as Nick goes I wish him the best and I’ve
heard his first single. That’s the only thing I’ve actually been able listen
to. As far as anybody comparing the two of us at this point I personally
think it’s kind of lazy of the press, anybody who does compare us, I mean,
if you listen to 'Help Me' and you listen to 'Like I Love You' they’re
two totally different songs and you can tell that we’re two totally different
artists." Check it out here.

November 5, 2002 - Cheryl
Lu-Lien Tan of the Baltimore Sun profiled *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake
ahead of Tuesday's release of his debut solo effort 'Justified'. Craig
Marks, editor of Blender magazine commented, "Debut records are pretty
paramount for any artist, but especially for one who is trying to subtly
reinvent himself. People are really watching this record - along with the
new Christina Aguilera record - to see how these artists can reposition
themselves after the trend that they're associated with has kind of died
out." Read more.

Justin sings, "So, you had your chance to be my lover. I guess you needed
something more undercover. And you know that ain't cool. So let's skip
the drama, call your momma and tell her she better just come get you 'cause
frankly, baby, you ain't worth the gas in my BMW." Read more.

his gay following, he responded, "Something I will say about the whole
[gay] community that I’ve met is that it’s so non-discriminating as music
goes." He added, "Sometimes it’s almost inspiring that there are people
out there who like music just because they like music. For some reason
I find it in the [gay] community more than others." Read more.
November 4, 2002 - Jon Bream
of the Star Tribune was on the line for a recent conference call with *NSYNC
star Justin Timberlake, who talked about his new album 'Justified', due
Tuesday. Timberlake says branching out on his own won't endanger the pop
group that made him famous. "The fact that the guys in the group are my
friends, that's what's inspiring to make another record," Timberlake said.
" 'Cause you know there's no egos. Everybody's doing what they're doing
because they love to do it. That's reason enough for me to make a record
even if it's a flop. Those are my friends, they'll always be friends, and
I would never turn my back on them. I would do an 'N Sync record in a heartbeat.
But everything's about timing." Read more.

November 4, 2002 - The New

something Ja Rule says isn't a problem for equally successful white pop
stars. "If I was Justin Timberlake, I wouldn't have to walk around with
a gun and knife," he said, referring to the *NSYNC star. "But I'm not.
I'm Ja Rule." He added that as his fame growns, so does his fear, mainly
from his others of his own race. "It's sad, because that feeling is mainly
towards my black people," he said. "When my white fans come around, I don't
feel uneasy, like they want to harm me. But when I'm around a whole group
of black people, a defense comes on. That's the tragedy of this." Read

Justin Timberlake and Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, giving Justin's
'Justified' and Nick's 'Now Or Never' each two stars out of five. Abbott
joked, "At least they don't want to go into space," adding, "Successful
solo careers might prove as elusive as that space shuttle ticket." As for
the pressure of Timberlake's album on the future of teen pop, Timberlake

November 2, 2002 - NSYNC
star Justin Timberlake tells Michael D. Clark of the Houston Chronicle
that similarities between his new image and Michael Jackson's in the '80s
is coincidental. "I was lucky enough to grow up at a time when I could

I think you'll also hear the Eagles in the harmony and a lot of Stevie
Wonder." Read more.
November 2, 2002 - Sarah
Rodman of the Boston Herald spoke with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake who
says his debut solo album 'Justified' doesn't spell the end for *NSYNC.
"I think as a group we decided to slow down and see where our heads were
at and what we wanted to do for the next record," says Timberlake. As for
whether it will be difficult to be one of five instead of the main man,
Timberlake said, "Those guys are my friends and they'll always be my friends,
and I would never turn my back on them as far as that goes." He added that

November 2, 2002 - Alex Needham
of NME.com reviewed the debut solo effort from *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake,
giving it a rating of 6. "'Justified' sees Timberlake poncing off black
talent - Timbaland and The Neptunes - because that's the commercially savvy
thing to do," Needham opined. "Unlike, say, Dusty in Memphis, Bowie in
Philadelphia or Eminem in LA, he brings nothing to the table other than
his own celebrity status. Vocally, Usher, to pick a random example, could
have him for breakfast. Lyrically (presumably the reason every track bears
his co-writing credit) all he's got are soppy platitudes that may or may
not be about Britney." Read more.

Hilburn of the Los Angeles Times reviewed Justin Timberlake's debut solo
album 'Justified', giving the *NSYNC star's disc two out of four stars.

Spears. "There was no particular song where I could, where I would say
that somebody particular was in mind," Justin said. "When I write a song...
it's just kind of written about how I guess I would have felt from that
perspective... I think half of the album does come from personal experience
but the other half is completely fantasized, made up. Maybe I was living
in a matrix, I don't know." Read more.

For his part, Carter said, "I want to do another album, but we're gonna
definitely have to change some things around when it comes to the music.
