But now the hungry track lacer has grown impatient with those taking credit for his creative genius. December 25, 2003 - The Enquirer has more details on *NSYNC's former tour manager Ibrahim Duarte, who filed a $10 million lawsuit November 25 in New York Supreme Court, saying he was fired without warning in 2000 -- after suffering a constant barrage of racial remarks, incidents and humiliation. Asked why he took so long to file the suit, Duarte's attorney said, "Duarte thought long and hard about it before coming forward because he wanted to ensure he'd be able to get future jobs and he didn't want to be known in the business as somebody who couldn't be trusted. In the end, he thought it was important that the truth be told. Ibrahim lived with these guys for years and knows these kids. It shows a side to them that a lot of people hadn't seen before. Frankly, when these kids needed him they treated him O.K. And when they got into positions where they could kind of flex their muscles, they just threw him out in the street. December 25, 2003 - Billy Masters of Filth2go.com hears that Justin Timberlake turned down the role to play Elton John in a film about the singer because he wants to make his feature-length film debut in an adaptation of the hit Broadway musical 'Rent'. Masters hears that the *NSYNC star has already done a screen test to play the part of 'Roger'. The singer was originally approached to play the part of 'Mark', but had his heart set on the romantic lead. While a number of Broadway actors have tested with Timberlake, no contract offers have been floated his way yet.

December 25, 2003 - Jon Pareles of The New York Times reviewed JC Chasez's concert at Irving Plaza on Friday night. He writes, "Within *NSYNC, Mr. Chasez was the member who dared to leer. On the group's album 'No Strings Attached' he wrote 'Digital Get Down,' a song about videophone sex. Now he's presenting himself as the guy who'll 'love you all night strong,' though it might just be a one-night stand. December 25, 2003 - With JC Chasez delivering lyrics about one-night stands, threesomes and masturbation, the *NSYNC star was cautioned on the approach by his label at Jive. "You know you're going to scare a few moms with this music," JC recalled an executive at the label telling him. "But I said, 'If I want to make another *NSYNC record, I'll make another *NSYNC record." The singer tells Neil Strauss that he hadn't planned on a solo album, but after bandmate Justin Timberlake's solo success, producer Dallas Austin suggested he too test the solo route. December 25, 2003 - Justin Timberlake's tenure as a "special correspondent" for ABC Sports officially starts tonight with ABC's first NBA telecast of the year. "It's a title that we gave for a position that we are still figuring out," ABC Sports senior VP and executive producer Michael Pearl tells The New York Post. The *NSYNC star will file a number of short features from the perspective of a sports fan, according to Pearl. "He's an average fan who happens to be a celebrity," says Pearl. Hunter tells The Mirror, "Any suggestion Justin is a racist is an outright lie. There were no racial slurs or anything. I've always said he's the blackest white boy I know. His characteristics, the way he dances, the way he sings, the whole soul vibe about himself. I've never really witnessed a Caucasian person that had those characteristics. "The popularity and money went to their heads and their true feelings about having a black front man became apparent. I endured their constant racial slurs, jokes and belittling comments to make it work. But they just threw me to the curb like yesterday's trash." December 3, 2003 - elgato writes "It's official. According to mediaweek.com's Programming Insider, Justin Timberlake is a loser. Well, at least his NBC special "Down Home In Memphis" is. The show had incredibly low ratings. NBC expected this, which is why they moved the special from before Thanksgiving to Black Friday. The Programming Insider posted that Timberlake's special drew a "mere 2.8/ 4 in the overnights and a fifth place 1.6/ 5 in adults 18-49. Stick to MTV, Justin." For the week, NBC came in dead last. Of all the music specials airing during sweeps, Britney Spears was the winner. Her ABC special drew a drew a 7.0/11. Christina Aguilera had a special, too. It aired on the WB network and pulled in a mere 1.7/3, which was less than what Tarzan pulled in while airing at the same time."
