know, what pop-star Justin Timberlake was smiling about, after leaving
girlfriend Cameron Diaz' star-trailer, but if her t-shirt has any truth
to it, then he had a 'Spectacular Time'. The *NSYNC star came to visit
Cameron after she frantically text messaged him to come to the set of her

writes "ET Online reviewed JC Chasez's solo debut 'Schizophrenic'. They
say that the album breaks open with the heavy groove of the frenetic first
single, 'Some Girls (Dance With Women).' The *NSYNC star wrote the sexy
song from his own observations of girls gettin' down on the dance floor.
'She Got Me' is a smooth and soulful tune with a funky, old-school feel.
JC counts the many ways he likes to get freaky on the upbeat number '100
Ways.' On the same topic, 'All Day Long I Dream About Sex' is an interesting
track, with a pounding melody straight out of the synthesized heyday of
the '80s. Read more."
February 26, 2004 - The New
York Post reports *NSYNC star JC Chasez has bought 44,000 shares of Steiner
Studios in October, spending about $150,000 to help finance the $118 million

a whole lot at this point." Check out the entire transcript here.
February 26, 2004 - Karen
Maylone of The Grand Rapids Press reviewed *NSYNC star JC Chasez's solo
debut 'Schizophrenic', giving it only 1 1/2 stars out of 4. Maylone says,
"His debut release, 'Schizophrenic,' is an attempt to join [Justin Timberlake]
in the winner's circle. But with cheesy, unimaginative lyrics, JC's album
is barely redeemable. A few songs have a bit of punch -- 'Some Girls (Dance
With Women)', 'She Got Me', 'Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)' -- but most
just flop. It's as if JC is searching for a sound, for a style, for a lifeline
to save him from sinking in the boy-band quicksand." Read more.

recently caught up with *NSYNC star JC Chasez to talk about his solo debut
'Schizophrenic', and asked him his thoughts on the album being embraced
by critics but having trouble finding success so far on radio. "I'm delighted
that music critics like it. And I get a kick out of seeing how fans at
the shows really get into the different tracks on the album," he said.
"But at the end of the day I'm very satisfied with the material I put out
there. Sure, I hope for commercial success. But at this point I made this
record in a way where I just wanted to do it myself, my way, so I can grow
as an individual and musician. So I think I've already been successful
as far as my personal goals. Now, commercially, of course, it would be
nice to have a few records sold. No doubt about that." Read more.

breast hanging out... but it's all quite innocent," she insisted. "I'm
planning to fly to the US to see Eric in June." But she did reveal she

I don't see why I should," he tells writer Donna Freydkin. Read more.

100 percent going ahead with another *NSYNC project," Bass said.

really keen to spend time with them - and they seemed more than keen to
be in his company." Read more.
February 23, 2004 - JC Chasez
tells Doug Pullen of the Flint Journal it was important that he make the
record he wanted with 'Schizophrenic', not the kind that gets cooked up
in some executive board room. "Because I got to do it on my own, I made
it with my friends. I didn't chase this person or that. It was just vibing
out. I didn't go in with any inhibitions about sounding dumb or something,"
he said, noting that working with producers he knew made the whole experience
"natural, cool." As for making a record with *NSYNC, Chasez insisted the
group will reunite later this year. "We tell each other some time either
in the late spring, or some time we'll just start passing ideas back and
forth and kind of (get) into rhythm for that." Read more.

February 23, 2004 - JC Chasez
tells ChartAttack.com that his debut solo effort 'Schizophrenic' is a sharp
musical contrast from his previous efforts with *NSYNC. "It's just a whole
different animal, this record," Chasez explained. "When you're dealing
with *NSYNC, you're dealing with a group vision and you're dealing with
a collaboration representing five people instead of just one. So there's
always compromise involved in that and this is just an uncompromised effort
on my part on making a record." Read more.
February 23, 2004 - NSYNC
star JC Chasez spoke with Angela Pacienza of the Canadian Press about his
assistance given to Paris Hilton on her pop debut. "I threw a couple of
ideas on her lap," he said, adding they were brought together by producer
Rob Bolt, who produced some tracks on Chasez's album. "I haven't physically
written out an entire song for her or anything like that just because this
is her record and she's actually going to be involved in a lot of it. That's
why she's taking her time. And I applaud that." Read more.
February 23, 2004 - Glenn
Gamboa of Newsday caught up with JC Chasez to get his reaction about losing
a national audience to his music when the NFL pulled the plug on his Pro
Bowl halftime show after his *NSYNC bandmate Justin Timberlake exposed
the breast of Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl. "It's an election year,
and everybody's overreacting a little bit, but that's just my opinion,"
Chasez said. "You gotta trust people to make their own decisions on what
they want to listen to. It would be a shame if people came out and started
censoring artists. Some of the greatest songs of all time have sexual innuendos
in them. Led Zeppelin sings 'Gotta whole lotta love' and 'Every inch of
my love.' It's not gonna go away." Read more.
February 19, 2004 - Renee
Graham of the Boston Globe weighed in on the recent Rolling Stone feature
on *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake labeling him the "new King of Pop." Graham
says, "Sure, Timberlake now has two Grammys, and there's still an impression
the award instantly bestows artistic validation. But a few shiny trinkets
does not an artist make; remember, the tedious Evanescence also won a Grammy
at last week's ceremony. So far, Timberlake's greatest talent has been
distancing himself from his original incarnation as a blonde-haired dancing
marionette in *NSYNC by mimicking the R&B icons he so slavishly admires."
He added, "Timberlake can sing, but his voice lacks any genuine depth or
emotion. He's a hard-working performer, but he's also like the smartest
kid in the class who mostly succeeds by memorizing his lessons without
having any real concept as to what it all means." Read more.
February 19, 2004 - The Glasgow
Daily Record spoke with Westlife's Nicky Byrne who said the group won't
be attending Tuesday night's Brit Awards in London after not receiving
any nominations. "The Brits awards is all politics," Byrne fumed. "They're
about trying to get American artists and the biggest acts across the Atlantic
to sell the show. The Brit awards aren't really the British music awards
because they are not really representing every act that sells on this side
of the water They're selling the show off the back of American artists
like Justin Timberlake. We've won two previous Brits. This is the second
or third year we haven't been nominated and we are learning to get on with
it." Read more.

album 'Schizophrenic'. Hunter said the *NSYNC star didn't connect with
the genius producers-of-the-moment, as bandmate Justin Timberlake sublimely
did with the Neptunes, and he doesn't stop the music to reveal diary entries
or literary ambitions. Instead, on 'Schizophrenic', Chasez got together
with a range of pop and dance producers (Basement Jaxx, Robb Boldt, Riprock
'n Alex G) and created seventeen high-impact tracks that spread out all
over the place. The album was rated with 3 1/2 stars in a total of five.

I just made the record I wanted to make." Chasez claimed he didn't intend
the CD to have so many sex songs. "Those were just the songs [the record

in the crime drama 'Edison', in which he'll play Joshua Pollack, "a fresh-out-of-college
kid with a counterculture bent" who gets his start by interning at a big-city
newspaper, writer/director David Burke said. To prepare for his role, Timberlake
plans to shadow an actual print journalist to learn what daily news reporting
is like. That arrangement should be made within the week, but is being
kept confidential so that the reporter can still do his/her job without
the added spotlight, 'Edison' producer Randall Emmett said. Read more.

Jackson source said. "Justin missed his mark. Janet has done most of the
apologizing but it was really Justin's fault." The *NSYNC star's spokesman
Ken Sunshine responded to the charge saying, "It's over as far as we're
concerned."

February 11, 2004 - Homertime
writes "Am I the only one who is upset by Justin Timberlake's childish
cop-out? Regardless if it was Janet Jackson's idea, Justin was the one
who agreed to do it. He's the one who grabbed her shirt and ripped it off.
He's the one responsible for exposing Janet. If the red bra was supposed
to stay on, Justin should have ensured that he didn't grab both when it
came time to rip off the top. But no, apparently he can't tell when he's
holding two tops or just one. So why is Janet the only one receiving the
backlash?" Read more.

there. The venue is available... it's up to her." Read more.

Haynes of OnlineJournal.com shared his thoughts on the massive reaction
in America to Janet Jackson's breast being exposed by *NSYNC star Justin
Timberlake at the Super Bowl, claiming it encapsulated the "inanity, the
puritanical hypocrisy, the blindness to significant realities, the mass
stupidity that characterize - indeed, that are - America." Haynes added,
"All of this feigned outrage from these unlikely hypocrites over a harmless
attention-seeking stunt of a few second's duration executed by a mass media
icon notorious for such actions." Read more.

radio host Wendy Williams was on CNN's 'Anderson Cooper 360' Friday to
discuss how Justin Timberlake is being allowed to perform at the Grammy
Awards while Janet Jackson apparently won't be attending. Williams suggested
race was a factor and when asked if she thought the *NSYNC star would get
booed, Williams said, "They'll boo him, but they will also put clap tracks
over it so we'll never hear. You see what I'm saying? That's all a part
of the delay." Read on for the transcript.

Alex Witt interviewed radio talk show host Joe Madison and Congress for
Racial Equality's Niger Innis about whether race plays a part in the Janet
Jackson breast baring incident at the Super Bowl last weekend. Madison
argued that *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake "punked out", as did everyone
else involved as they deny blame, while Janet showed some guts to accept
responsiblity. Innis praised the investigation by FCC head Michael Powell.

February 8, 2004 - Lisa de
Moraes of The Washington Post spoke with *NSYNC star JC Chasez after his
bandmate Justin Timberlake exposed the breast of Janet Jackson at the Super
Bowl, leading to the NFL to cancel his appearance at the Pro Bowl. Chasez
told The Post that Justin hadn't contacted him to offer condolences for
the damage Chasez has suffered because of that Super Bowl halftime peep
show, but he's okay with it because he knows that Timberlake is "dealing
with his own demons." Asked whether he thought CBS should allow Jackson
and Timberlake to perform at the Grammys, Chasez responded, "I think everybody
[involved] should be reprimanded, but I don't know to what extent. One
of the things I don't want to see is CBS put a stranglehold on the entire
industry by banning videos that were okay on MTV a week ago... To treat
people like they're stupid and censor things from them is wrong." Read

February 8, 2004 - Kyra Phillips
of CNN's 'Live From...' spoke with *NSYNC star JC Chasez after the NFL
pulled the plug on his halftime performance at this weekend's Pro Bowl
in Honolulu, Hawaii, blaming the Super Bowl halftime stunt where JC's bandmate
Justin Timberlake exposed the breast of Janet Jackson. "They're running
advertisements in the whole game and they're running ads for male performance
enhancements," he said. "So I mean, I don't know what to say, man. And
it's just a part of life. I mean, people, you know, music is an aphrodisiac
to a certain extent. Yes, sometimes things go too far. But I think we're
in a whole other era. We're in the communication age, not in the dark ages.
I think that you have to respect people's intelligence and things like
that. The only thing that's getting tough now is with this whole shakedown,
it's like, you know, I think they're going way overboard and artists themselves
are nervous what they're going to say and it's inhibiting creativity."

Lady Laura Bush spoke with CNN about the Super Bowl halftime show on CBS
where *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake exposed the breast of Janet Jackson.
Bush said she wasn't watching at the moment, and her husband, President
George W. Bush, told reporters earlier this week he was sleeping during
the halftime show. "What it represented was a kind of television viewing
that you don't want little children to see. ... It was at a family time
of day, a time when many, many families were together watching the Super
Bowl," Laura Bush said. "So I think that makes it really unfortunate. Parents
didn't know to turn the television off before that happened." Read more.

February 8, 2004 - Pat Rockefeller
of The Bowdoin Orient weighed in on the Janet Jackson breast exposing incident
and had harsh words for the explaination offered by the partner in the
stunt, *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake, and the network that produced the Super
Bowl halftime show, MTV. "The infuriating part of it all is that the whole
incident only proves that all those involved were either exceedingly stupid
themselves, or just figured that the rest of us were," he wrote. "It was
not a 'wardrobe malfunction,' Timberlake, you ripped her top off. Janet,
that was a very decorative adornment to be wearing if this wasn't planned.
MTV, you promised a 'shocking moment' during Jackson's half time show.
Don't insult us by claiming that the 'shocking moment' was going to be
the appearance of Justin Timberlake. The man is omnipresent these days.
The appearance of Justin Timberlake is as shocking as John Kerry referencing
his service in Vietnam." Read more.
February 8, 2004 - Network

inevitable after *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake exposed the breast of Janet

Lee Gifford was on CNN's 'Larry King Live' on Thursday and was asked about
the Super Bowl halftime show where *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake exposed
the breast of Janet Jackson. "Oh, gosh, it's been the dumbing down of television
for many years but now it's the numbing down and the slumming down of it,
too," she complained. "I just don't watch television for that very reason
for the most part. Very little network television do I watch. I'm offended
by it or I'm -- I don't like to see people demeaned. I can't stand to see
human beings demean themselves or other people demean them, all of the
reality stuff. I don't like to see women -- I don't like to see that anyway.
We're so saturated with sex as a society today that they've made sex boring.
Sex can be really, really good when it's done right. You know what I'm
saying?" She added, "Breasts are a beautiful thing. They're part of the
human anatomy, but I don't like the tackiness of all of this." Check out

February 8, 2004 - A buddy
of U2 frontman Bono tells The Chicago Sun-Times the singer is furious with
the NFL after the Super Bowl hafltime show where *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake
exposed the breast of Janet Jackson. The pal explained how the rock star
was rebuffed by the NFL when he asked to perform a song about the AIDS
crisis with Jennifer Lopez during halftime. "The NFL didn't want any controversy
... didn't want to appear to be endorsing anything political or anything
considered a 'cause,'" the U2 insider said. "Then they had Janet and Justin...
I'd say that controversy is a little worse than anything Bono's song could
have done."
February 8, 2004 - Yancey
Strickler of ClubCD.com reviewed JC Chasez's debut solo album 'Schizophrenic',
claiming it "one-ups" *NSYNC bandmate Justin Timberlake's solo debut. Strickler
says, "'Schizophrenic' brims with bald-faced, Plastic Ono Band-sized departures
from Chasez’s *NSYNC days." She added, "Chasez one-ups 'Justified', and
its singular focus on early ‘80s Michael Jackson-derived dance-pop, by
peppering Schizophrenic with house, southern hip-hop, punk, goth synth-pop
and R&B, sometimes all at once." Read more.
February 8, 2004 - preetyprincess
writes "Am I the only one that thinks that when the going gets tough, Justin
Timberlake gets going? Immediately after he, literally, ripped part of
Janet Jackson's clothes (rather he meant to or not), Justin is seen as
a proud pop star, describing the experience as "any man's dream." However,
when people react, and badly at that, the *NSYNC star blames it all on
Janet and tries to save his a**. This is another case of a person turning
on the people who helped him become famous. On Justin's CD 'Justified',
almost all of his music is produced by Timbaland or the Neptunes. You can
literally call his CD another Neptunes CD. However, when one of his beloved
sistas gets in trouble, he tries to isolate himself away from the problem
as much as he can. That is surely an jacka**. Justin, I have lost all of
my respect for you."
February 8, 2004 - The Associated
Press reports JC Chasez unleashed a scathing attack Thursday on the NFL
for asking him to sing the national anthem at the Pro Bowl after yanking
him from the halftime show due to Janet Jackson fallout. The *NSYNC star
said in a statement: "I have had a great relationship with the NFL in the
past and feel that I have been mistreated. While I agree the mishap at
the Super Bowl was a huge mistake, the NFL's shallow effort to portray
my music as sexually indecent brings to mind another era when innocent
artists were smeared with a broad brush by insecure but powerful people.
That's not the America I love. Nor is this the NFL I love. I'll sing the
national anthem anytime, anywhere, but not for this NFL." Brian McCarthy,
a spokesman for the Pro Bowl, responded, "We're not going to debate him.
We made our decision and we're going to move on." Read more.
February 8, 2004 - The New
York Times reports MTV executives, while clearly embarrassed by *NSYNC
star Justin Timberlake exposing the breast of Janet Jackson at the Super
Bowl in Houston on Sunday (February 1), stand by the rest of the show.
"We were victims of a lewd stunt," said Tom Freston, the chairman of MTV
Networks. "What happened was deplorable. But if not for the last two seconds,
that show would have been seen as a great success." Freston defended the
show as completely within the mainstream of contemporary entertainment.
"These were artists really down the middle of the youth culture. The most
dynamic force in pop music for the past two decades is hip-hop. For anyone
under 40 these songs have been heard everywhere, floating out of their
cars, on the radio, and on all kinds of television shows." Read more.
February 8, 2004 - Michael
C. Dorf, Professor of Law at Columbia University, weighed in on the Janet
Jackson breast-baring incident at the Super Bowl and a federal probe by
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell of the entire
show that has followed. He asks, "Was the halftime show unsuitable for
the millions of small children watching? Sure. But so are half the shows
on prime-time television. And more importantly, the First Amendment provides
that 'Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech.' How,
then, can the FCC impose fines on the halftime performers and broadcasters,
as it has threatened to do?" Read more.

O'Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Thursday night, "Last
month was one of the coldest months in New York history. It must be cold

lot of controversy over the Super Bowl halftime show. Justin Timberlake's
parents said they were even embarrassed by the halftime show. They then
went on to say that they were embarrassed before the game."
February 8, 2004 - Reuters
reports upset television viewers have filed more than 200,000 complaints
about Janet Jackson's breast-baring performance at the Super Bowl, a record
for the Federal Communication Commission, officials said on Friday. Gripes
over the flash of Jackson's breast last Sunday easily eclipsed the FCC's
previous record -- 80,000 complaints that came after television actress
Nicole Richie used a curse word on the 2003 Billboard Music Awards, the
agency said. "The vast majority express outrage that this occurred during
a family program, when many children were in the viewing audience," FCC
consumer and information chief K. Dane Snowden said in a statement. Read

February 8, 2004 - Jay Leno

I'd say this, but you know something – I am sick and tired of looking Janet
Jackson’s right breast. ... Do you know Janet Jackson's little halftime
stunt has become the most searched event in the history of the internet?
See, it proves once again that if you take out your breast during the Super
Bowl halftime show, people will watch. ... Next year the Super Bowl is
on Fox. How sleazy is that halftime show going to be? ... Today Justin
Timberlake said he was 'frustrated' by the whole Janet Jackson incident.
Sure. He only got to first base of course he's frustrated. ... They kicked
Janet Jackson off the Grammy's, is this fair, but they’re letting Justin
Timberlake stay on. Flash your breast and you're in trouble, reach for
a breast and you're get to be on the Grammy's and you get to be Governor
of California."
February 8, 2004 - Julie
Muhlstein of the Everett Herald responded to those saying those who were
offended by Janet Jackson's Super Bowl halftime breast exposure are prudes,
sexually repressed, or should just turn off their televisions. She writes,
"You shouldn't have to shut off the Super Bowl. When grandparents and their
grandkids are gathered on a Sunday evening, tuned into the broadcast network
of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite, no one should have to dive over
the nachos to shut the darned TV off because of simulated sex and a pierced
breast. It's not prudish to say so." Muhlstein added, "What kids see isn't
so much a breast, or even a skewed view of sexuality. What kids see and
hear, video after video, song after song, is that to share your talent
you sell your body." Read more.
February 8, 2004 - Following
the gigantic reaction to Janet Jackson's exposed breast at the Super Bowl
in Houston, Peter Howell of the Toronto Star weighed in on the overreaction
by America. He writes, "It is all further evidence, if any were needed,
that America is the most sexually repressed and morally confused of all
Western nations. For all of its power, wealth and technological know-how,
the U.S. hasn't advanced all that much from the chastity-belted values
of its founding Pilgrims. In countries less prone to prudery, the Janet
Jackson affair has been the source of much mystery and merriment." Howell
concludes, "If the flap over Jackson's stray breast serves to point up
America's ridiculous censorship rules, this tempest in a B-Cup may turn
out to be worth all the uproar. We can only hope." Read more.

it to make a tearaway bra cup — giving folks the impression that their
clothing for the kinky crowd is badly made. "There's no way it would have

when *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake exposed the breast of Janet Jackson
that it's not enough to be a good singer, and that entertainers "have to
do something extra" — such as the open mouthed kiss Madonna gave Britney
Spears and Christina Aguilera during the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
"What's gonna be next? It's getting crazy, and it's all down to money.

exposing the breast of Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl in Houston on Sunday.
Harrop says, "The Super Bowl halftime show shocked many, but especially
an elite group of American consumers: people who had bought their way out
of the television slum. Your writer counts herself among the shaken innocents.
What am I talking about? I am talking about people who buy fancy cable
for better programming and fewer commercials. People who subscribe to Netflix,
which mails movie DVDs, free of advertising, to their homes. People who
have TiVo, which easily records many hours of television; consumers can
play back the programs at leisure and whiz through the commercials." Read

of Janet Jackson and *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's superbowl controversy,
saying, "There are so many things going on in the world today. Why, as
a nation, aren't we concentrating on things that are really going to harm
or endanger our children?" When told about Justin going on air, regrettably
speaking about the incident while taking the heat off himself, she said,
"I think that's shady on his part. If I do recall, there were two people

the Super Bowl. He said, "Well, I think everyone at CBS from Mel Karmazin
(Viacom President and Chief Operating Officer) on down, was one, shocked,
two, embarrassed, by what happened. Here you have -- I mean I talked to
people who were there for the Super Bowl at CBS, who went to all the rehearsals,
and there was no indication that anything like this was going to happen.
It hadn't been rehearsed, it hadn't been planned as far as they could see."

reports that though Justin Timberlake is still scheduled to perform at
Sunday's Grammys, which is being broadcast on CBS, his Super Bowl halftime
show where Janet Jackson's breast was exposed has had consequences for
his *NSYNC singer. JC Chasez, who was scheduled to perform at Sunday's
NFL Pro Bowl, has been axed from the halftime festivities. "In light of
what happened Sunday, we took a hard look at what he was going to perform
and decided to move in another direction," league spokesperson Brian McCarthy
said Wednesday. "This is a reflection of what was communicated by the league
on Monday. We said we are making changes and this is the first one." Chasez
said in a statement: "No one could be more disappointed than I that the
NFL has canceled my halftime performance at the Pro Bowl. I've told the
NFL I understand the pressure that they are under since the Super Bowl."
JC was also scheduled to sing the national anthem at the game and is still
talking with the NFL about doing so, McCarthy said. Read more.
February 5, 2004 - Cindy
Adams of The New York Post spoke with CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves
who was quite candid about his feelings after *NSYNC stsar Justin Timberlake
exposed Janet Jackson's breast at the Super Bowl on Sunday. "She hijacked
our broadcast. A really bad mistake on her part," Moonves said. "This program
had huge ratings. I didn't need this to get ratings. A hundred million
Americans watched. I could've put on Andy Williams and gotten the same
ratings. I'm very aggravated. I feel betrayed and that's hard to take."
So where was Moonves when It happened? "Right there," he told me. "Sitting
in the skybox next to the broadcast booth, watching the show like any other
fan. I couldn't believe it. My first reaction was, 'Can't be... Did I just
see what I think I saw? ... Did this really pull away?'"

weighed in on the Super Bowl halftime show where *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake
exposed the breast of Janet Jackson. Limbaugh claimed the stunt proved
that the "feminist movement has totally lost every inch of ground that
they got and are back to square one." Limbaugh continued, "You know, feminism
is nothing more than liberalism, and of course anything that shocks you
people, let me just put it this way. Anything that shocks you people, the
liberals love. I mean, if there are liberals listening to this program,
I just want to clue you in. They love hearing you call in here and say
that you felt assaulted, and they love hearing you say you felt attacked,
and they love hearing you say how morally offended you were, because liberals
fear people like you. They are afraid that if people like you ever get
in charge of cultural things, like the presidency, like the NEA, that you
will decry them and make what they do illegal." Read more.

star Justin Timberlake at the Super Bowl during his Tonight Show monologue
on Tuesday night. Jay joked, "Earlier today, Janet Jackson's breast came
out and saw its shadow. Which means six more weeks of winter. ... How many
of you watched that half time show on Sunday - or as they're calling it
now America's Cup. ... You know who was really mad about this whole thing?
President Bush. In fact today he accused Janet Jackson of having weapons
of mass arousal. ... I was shocked to hear this - Janet admitted today
that yes the whole thing was a stunt and it was planned. (sarcastic tone)
I thought it was a complete accident. ... FCC Chairman Michael Powell said
he gathered with his family to watch the show, but instead got a classless,
crass and deplorable stunt. Or as we call that here at NBC, 'Fear Factor.'
We do it every Monday! ... CBS said they may bar Janet Jackson from the
Grammys because of what happened at the Super Bowl. Isn't that kind of
tit for tat? ... It was quite a show wasn't it – there was a streaker,
Janet Jackson's breast was exposed and Kid Rock wore an American flag as
a poncho. I was surprised that John Ashcroft's head didn’t explode during
that thing. ... CBS said today that's why they put that 'X-X-X' in the
title. That's not Roman numerals, it's the rating!"

each other, they're denying, no response from some – the FCC is going to

Security. ... President Bush slept through the halftime show – typical
CBS viewer. ... CBS is pleading ignorance over the stunt at the Super Bowl.

say it was a wardrobe malfunction. President Clinton heard that and said,

February 5, 2004 - Jay Leno
joked heavily about *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson after
their Super Bowl incident on Sunday. During his Tonight Show monologue
on Monday, Jay joked, "What a game yesterday? Wasn't that a great game?
New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers both played a great game
yesterday. I'm mad, I lost big time yesterday. I bet a thousand bucks that
Janet Jackson would show her left breast. ... Did you watch that half time
show? Finally a half time show for straight guys! ... Did you all see that
during the half time show? I guess Janet was singing a duet with Justin
Timberlake and at the end he ripped off part of her costumes exposing one
of her breasts. Boy, that was ironic, for once a Jackson getting molested.
... Of course for viewers here in Los Angeles it was especially shocking.
And most guys in this town have ever seen a real breast before. ... I just
hope what Janet did at halftime doesn't, in any way, tarnish the good name
of the Jackson family. ... Justin Timberlake said it was a 'wardrobe malfunction',
what were both breasts supposed to fall out? ... Today CBS apologized for
Janet showing her breast. Forget that – how about CBS apologizing for Richard
showing his fat ass on 'Survivor'. That’s the apology I want. ... I love
how high and mighty they get - they said 'The moment did not conform to
CBS's broadcast standards.' 'Standards?' What standards? They ran a commercial
with a horse farting in a woman's face. ... Today the Chairman of the FCC
announced that he's launching an 'immediate and swift' investigation into
what they're calling 'nipple gate'. That's what we’re calling it. Immediate
and swift investigation; however, we have to wait till next year to find
out why we went to war in Iraq."

February 5, 2004 - In a letter
to the Federal Communications Commission, Family Research Council (FRC)
President Tony Perkins urged the agency to hold CBS accountable for last
night's Super Bowl half-time show, in which singer Janet Jackson exposed
her breast on live television. "It is a sad day when parents cannot even
let their children watch the Super Bowl without having to worry about nudity
and other vulgarity creeping into their living rooms," said FRC's Perkins.
"The FCC has rules about indecency for a reason, and they must use this
opportunity to make an example of CBS and MTV, which produced the half-time
program. This clear breach of FCC standards must not go unpunished. The
entire half-time program was tasteless and not family-friendly. CBS should
know better than to turn the half-time entertainment over to MTV, which
relishes its ability to shock. CBS would do well to adhere to the adage:
if you sleep with dogs you'll get fleas. I am sure there is a lot of scratching
going on at CBS today." Read more.

February 5, 2004 - Doug Hagin
of OpinionEditorials.com shared his thoughts on the Super Bowl halftime
performance that concluded with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake exposing
the breast of Janet Jackson. Hagin writes, "The New England Patriots and
Carolina Panthers played their hearts out and gave football fanatics some
images and memories we will never forget. This was the type of game that
reaffirms the dedicated fans love of the sport and makes new fans of those
who watch for the first time. Surely the 32-29 Patriots victory will be
remembered fondly. That halftime show, however, was another story entirely.
Football fans, most of whom care nothing about the halftime show, were
exposed to some pretty raunchy stuff at the year’s extravaganza. There
were men wearing women’s clothing, crotch grabbing rap star punks, stripping
cheerleaders and Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake fondling each other

cover-two is not an essential strategy during the halftime show: Football
is football, and entertainment is entertainment, and both are much better
