July 31, 2000 - *NSYNC was on Access Hollywood tonight talking about comparisons to The Beatles, where JC said "well maybe the hype is like the Beatles, but I don't want to compare us because I respect them so much." Also highlighted in the interview were scenes of the boys playing hoops over the weekend, as a female fame sitting in the front row exercised self control by not grabbing Justin as he went for a loose ball near her, calling him "sooo sexy!" Lance also dropped the bombshell that he has the hots for widowed Today show host Katie Couric.

July 30, 2000 - More details emerging from Justin and Britney's night at Chaos Wednesday morning, as the New York Daily News reports the two were "real lovebirds, completely uninhibited" according to a spy at the club, who also saw the two making out for a half hour in their banquette. Around 3 am though, the two got in a heated argument as the two walked out in different directions, but eventually they both left in Britney's town car.

July 28, 2000 - Lori Kramer on eYada.com talking about *NSYNC "they're very cute, but they sound too much like Backstreet." Her co-host and Pagesix.com writer Richard Johnson then talked about how BSB are pissed off at *NSYNC talking about how they hired the same people and copied their style.

July 28, 2000 - *NSYNC and their Today Show performance was talked about on Access Hollywood tonight as they report a record 15,000 Today show fans crammed the streets around the venue, to witness what Matt Lauer described as the Beatles of the year 2000. Katie Couric had a rough time remembering JC's name, first calling him Jason, but managed to remember the members names in the end.

July 27, 2000 - Justin Timberlake danced with Britney Spears until 3:30am early Wednesday morning amidst allegations that Britney was drunk, according to a witness who attempted to snap pictures of her holding a drink before being kicked out by Spears' bodyguards. July 27, 2000 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports people who frequently are around Lance Bass backstage say he's told them he and his bandmates "never drink or party too much--ruins our voices." [but what about all these teenie-bopper groupie sites that claim otherwise?]

July 27, 2000 - The New York Daily News reports that while Britney was playing down her and Justin's relationship in YM, her actions speak otherwise. Britney made a special trip to New York Tuesday to hang at the trendy Lotus, where a source revealed "Britney and Justin were totally together."

July 27, 2000 - General advisory: Be on the lookout for phony *NSYNC tickets being sold either at the event or on eBay, as there already have been arrests for this occurring.

July 26, 2000 - *NSYNC was on Access Hollywood tonight ahead of their big HBO performance at MSG tomorrow. Justin joked that Garth Brooks, Marc Anthony, and others would join them to sing We Are The World.

July 25, 2000 - *NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye was nominated for Video Of The Year, Best Group Video, Best Dance Video, Best Pop Video, Viewer's Choice, and Best Choreography In A Video in this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which will be hosted by the Wayans brothers, reports Worldpop.

July 25, 2000 - Katie Ford is launching her Ford Music Company - a marketing, advertising and consulting division of the famous Ford Modeling Agency tomorrow in New York, with a client list already formed including Justin Timerlake of *NSYNC, Mandy Moore, Wyclef Jean and Christina Aguilera.

July 25, 2000 - Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass were among several celebrities celebrating Jennifer Lopez's surprise 30th birthday bash at the Lotus on Monday night in New York. The event was open bar, we presume even for those underage like Justin!

July 24, 2000 - *NSYNC will be unveiling their look-alike marionettes at FAO Schwarz from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday in New York.

July 24, 2000 - Worldpop reports during this weekends appearance for a McDonalds press conference where fans begged for their used drinking cups or burger wrappers as the group consumed ate two nine-piece McNuggets, two Big Macs, seven cheeseburgers, five fries, two chocolate shakes, two strawberry shakes, three Cokes, three McFlurries and three apple pies.

July 22, 2000 - Iwerks Entertainment Inc. is in production on a 45-minute Large Format concert film featuring *NSYNC. The film should be showing in the US next year.

July 22, 2000 - MTV reports that the *NSYNC lip balm that was supposed to be coming out won't be, as JC Chasez noted "it wasn't us who okayed it." They also report fans lucky enough to be at the Pontiac Silverdome concert earlier this week will be part of the feature film that's still in development.

July 20, 2000 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports today that Justin becomes literally catatonic during Britney's performances and needs to be asked several times to move because he's so mesmerized by Britney at her shows, which Ted reports he's showed up for many on her tour.

July 20, 2000 - More details on the McDonalds CDs. The tracks will feature remixes of their hits and will only cost $4.99 with any regularly priced menu item.

July 20, 2000 - Lance Bass tells MTV Asia that doctors advised *NSYNC that the high pitch of their female fans was damaging their ears, saying "So we have these in ear monitors now that block out most of their screaming."

July 19, 2000 - It seems the G Spot message boards are starting to lose their believability, as two different girls have posted their sex stories with Justin... as usual with suspicious stories, no dates, locations, or hotels were mentioned. Perhaps wiring message boards with lie detectors is the only solution.

July 19, 2000 - The South County Journal (Bellevue, WA) reports during *NSYNC's visit to Tacoma, Justin Timberlake was supposed to meet up with 2 girls who had  spoken with Justin on a television chat show, where the girls were promised a visit with him if they raised money for his foundation. Apparently things didn't work out, but Justin's publicist says Justin will think of some way of making it up to the girls.

July 16, 2000 - The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Britney and Justin were seen at a showing of the movie Me, Myself and Irene  when they were in town Thursday. They also were accompanied by a bodyguard and weren't bothered, they report.

July 15, 2000 - *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Joe, and Sisqo will take part in a press conference at a McDonald's located on Grays Ferry Avenue in Philadelphia at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday (July 20). The 4 acts got big bucks to pitch McDonalds burgers. McDonalds also is putting out make three new CDs and a home video of the bunch.

July 14, 2000 - The Sun had a story about former MMC cast members and rated them by order of success (in their opinion!), Britney was on top, followed by Christina and Justin.

July 12, 2000 - Well we knew it was coming, rumors hit G Spot message boards today that Justin's marriage to Britey is a 'shotgun wedding' and that Britney is pregnant after finally agreeing to have sex wit Justin. [we think the bulls*** meter is at 100% on this one]

July 12, 2000 - An interesting letter that supposedly is from Justin Timberlake [update: we have reports that it is fake, but the incident was real] has appeared following a fan confrontation in Hawaii, to read, [see July 28 news item].

July 11, 2000 - MTV Asia reports that Britney and Justin Timberlake meet regularly at the her Louisiana home, where a neighborhood of Britney reveals "I know Justin has jetted in here a few times on his own so he can stay with Britney and her family. 
They get on really well and he gets a plane to the local airport, where Britney's dad picks him up. Britney's dad loves him and refers to him as a 'superstar.'"

July 11, 2000 - *NSYNC No Strings attached marionettes dolls were introduced recently, and according to Worldpop "the Justin one looks the best."

July 11, 2000 - Five Star J of rival boy band Five says of *NSYNC "There are so many different reasons why *NSYNC annoy me but I've got nothing against BSB. I'd like to skip over to *NSYNC, shoot them all and then come back to Five."

July 10, 2000 - Jay Leno tonight joked about Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake getting married by saying "Sorry guys, he's taken." He also said it would be the only wedding in history where both bride and groom lip-synch their wedding vows.

July 10, 2000 - Britney Spears and *NSYNC label Jive Records today released the following statement: "Contrary to what has been erroneously reported, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are neither engaged nor married. The story, which began in the British tabloid 'News Of The World,' is, not surprisingly, completely without merit."

July 9, 2000 - Justin Timberlake reportedly was on a Cincinnati radio station tonight denying rumors he and Britney are getting married, according to BritneySpears.org message board posters. The gist of his comments are "This has really gotten out of hand, me and Britney are not dating much less getting married."

July 9, 2000 - Because of the importance of yesterday's news, we've ended our previous Justin poll early. 59% of you thought Justin should do a solo album, and no doubt a project like that will happen in the future. July 8, 2000 - Reaction to the Britney and Justin marriage proposal news is sending shockwaves through Justin message boards, some sample quotes: "OMG no this cant be happenig! I hate her! she is such a slut! This has to be a rumor!" from nsynclips0. A more cynical reaction from kc8919 saying "only stupid people would believe something like that. uhh..they are only 18 and 19 years old. some people...who start these rumors..or get freaked out at these rumors need to go to a psych ward." Shock didn't stop with Britney's male admirers either "NO NO NO!!!! Britney, ohhhh my god NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This can't be happening!!!!" was the whining plea from ronbo1176.

July 8, 2000 - More on the Britney / Justin proposal from Newsoftheworld.co.uk as friends told the paper "They were in a cafe [in New York] having a coffee when Justin pulled out this ring—Britney was left speechless." The engagement ring reportedly set Timberlake back $50,000. A friend of Justin's was quoted as saying "It’s all very exciting. They may only be teenagers but they haven’t got any money problems." [note: remember only British tabloids have reported this story so far]

July 8, 2000 - NEWS FLASH: Britney Spears has reportedly accepted a marriage proposal from Justin Timberlake, according to Britain's News of the World newspaper Sunday. The paper says the two haven't set a date yet and are taking thinks slowly.

July 8, 2000 - Usenet fans of *NSYNC are jamming Aaron Beck's email and phone with angry replies to his Dispatch scathing review of a recent concert entitled "It's an evolutionary setback, but NSYNC is what's selling".

July 7, 2000 - Lots of Justin sightings reported on the G Spot message board. A girl reports Justin was seen in New York last weekend at the airport getting into a van with a girl (not Britney) and kissing before the van arrived. He's also been seen at Hartford, CT and Hershey, PA shows for Britney Spears. There also are rumors Justin is dating a 16 year old named Chelsea, though most seem to discredit this claim.

July 7, 2000 - Justin Timberlake talks to Top of The Pops about his infamous hair: "You know, believe it or not, it takes me, like, two seconds to do my hair! I just dump some crap on it and it does what it does. Lately it's just been, like, everywhere. I used to try to straighten my hair when I was younger and that was a big mistake! It just can't be done!"
