January 25, 2002 - Lisa Verrico of The Times reviewed Kid Rock's 'Cocky' from a British perspective, as the singer is looking to crack the international market on the back of Pamela Anderson's noteriety. Verrico said, "While Rock comes across as a beer-swilling, sex-obsessed hip-hop hick, the real Bob Richie is far smarter. On Cocky, not only does he mix influences from artists as diverse as Black Sabbath, Willie Nelson, Run DMC and Lynyrd Skynyrd, he proves that he’s an accomplished musician by playing bass, banjo, pedal steel, rhythm and slide guitar, doing all the DJ scratching and producing the entire album himself."
