Zanuck and Lili Fini Zanuck are telling Leo he's off the hook for presenting
in this year's Oscars, saying "We've decided to lay off Leonardo, we've
let Leonardo know enough we wanted him, so let's give him a break now."

26, 2000 - Gossip going on via Usenet is speculating the person Ted was
cryptically referring to is a male, as well reports that Leo was caught
on the set of The Beach with one of the "local smooth skinned boy babes."
March 26, 2000 - eBay was
a copy of Leo's The Beach script up for auction, one which was even signed
by DiCaprio himself. So far bidding is at a meager $10.49, now if this
was the Titanic script, we'd probably be talking 100X that amount.
March 25, 2000 - The National
Enquirer is out this week with more info on the Paris Hilton & Leo
hookup. A friend of Paris told them "Paris is madly in love with him, she
has all the money in the world, but what she really wants more than anything
is to marry Leo. And Leo is very turned on by her." Supposedly this is
spelling an end to his longtime relationship with Kristen Zang.
March 23, 2000 - Access Hollywood
tonight got a chance to speak about Leo being in his new film Champs, but
apparently it may be a longshot as Stallone says "Well we all have our
fantasies".
March 23, 2000 - Well eOnline's
Ted Casablanca was someone cryptic today when talking about Leo's "new
babe" saying "Leo-babe has been hangin' with a new babe. One who
just might surprise everybody. Or not. But my bets are on--on this one."
[well after yesterday's news, we assume this ain't Paris Hilton!]
March 22, 2000 - Fresh off
the environmental backlash Leo received from filming The Beach (though
we suspect the Thai group purposely organized this protest to cash in on
Leo's fame and promote tourism), he's issuing a statment for the EarthAction
environmental group "There is a global emergency going on. The Earth is
heating up and everyone's future is at risk. Please join us in sending
a strong message to our governments that now is the time for action to
prevent violent changes in our climate."
March 22, 2000 - The New
York Post is reporting that Leo's current flame, Paris Hilton, was engaged
in full-blown passion with the lead singer of Lit during the MTV Spring
Break, which Leonardo didn't attend.
March 20, 2000 - The biopic
on James Dean, which has had speculation that Leonardo would play the role,
will be shown on TNT in 2001, according to a Variety report. We suspect
now that it's relegated to cable, Leo won't have an interest in the part.
March 19, 2000 - The New
York Daily News today reports that Adam Farrar was released as charges
weren't filed within 48 hours, LA prosecutors say he is still a suspect
on the attempted murder charges. How's Leo feel about it, his stepmother,
Peggy DiCaprio is saying "Leonardo is in a state of complete shock, he
can't believe any of this is happening. But he did warn Adam to be careful.
Leo knows there are a lot of unscrupulous people in this world who want
to cash in on his fame, and he's always tried to shield Adam from this."
March 18, 2000 - Another
Leo party sighting as he was partying it up at the premiere party for Cary
Woods' Buddy Boy at New York's Chaos.
March 17, 2000 - Leo's bad
boy image is being upstaged by his stepbrother Adam Farrar, the 28 year-old
was arrested for the attempted murder of his girlfriend and held on $1
million bail.
March 13, 2000 - APBNews
is reporting today that Leo has been named in a slander suit between his
money manager and former business partners. Apparently DiCaprio's associate
is said to have made untrue statements about Dana Giacchetto which caused
clients to bail on him.
March 13, 2000 - Just a heads
up, Leonardo is a big backer of environmental concerns related to global
warming and will head an event next month to promote a cleaner environment.
March 10, 2000 - More controversy
from Thailand about The Beach. As a parliamentary committee has suggested
recalling the film, with a spokeman telling Variety "Besides damage to
the environment during its filming, The Beach damages the image
of Buddhism. Moreover it now faces a lawsuit filed by environmentalists,
so the showing should be halted."
March 9, 2000 - Star Magazine
is reporting that Leo was seen at an LA Bookstore looking at self-help
books and audio tapes. They speculate perhaps he was upset over the poor
results The Beach had on the box office.
March 7, 2000 - Apparently
some people of Thailand are none too pleased about the movie that was filmed
in their home country, The Beach. One person went out of their way
to perform a fake ritual suicide before the 1st screening of the movie
to symbolize what they say was a destruction of the beach where the film
was shot. It didn't stop the cinema from selling out the show and even
charging double the normal admission to view it.
March 3, 2000 - Courtney
Love has bought the rights to music writer Caroline Sullivan's memoir "Bye
Bye Baby" and apparently wants to cast Leo as guitarist Stuart "Woody"
Wood. No word back on whether Leo is interested in working with the volatile
rocker in this one.
March 3, 2000 - e! online's
Ted Cassablanca in his celebrity sightings report notes that Leo was seen
with a "handsome dude" at Circle-in-the-Square in New York watching the
play True West. And yes, he does provide vague reference that the
pair may have been more than buddies, hmm...
