October 27, 2000 - Jeannette
Walls of MSNBC is reporting that Gisele and Leo are not engaged, nor are
they a couple, according to sources. Apparently wedding rumors were started
by friends who thought it would be good publicity. A source told her, "the
reports of a romance were greatly exaggerated. . . . the engagement stuff
was too much."
October
24, 2000 - More details of the Martin Scorsese controversy from the London
Observer, who report that he was indeed angry with Leo for is consistent
tardiness. An Italian extra told the Observer, "I couldn’t understand it
all, because he was speaking so fast," adding "but he was very angry. We
didn’t know where to look."
October 24, 2000 - The Star
reports that James Cameron approached Leo to make a cameo appearance in
his new TV series Dark Angel, but Leo not only turned him down, but had
his reps do it for him. Cameron is said to be miffed over the snub.
October 23, 2000 - Entertaindom.com
reports more news from Gisele on the wedding rumors floating about, as
she insists, "There is no way I'm engaged. I'm only 20. I do see Leo, but
that's as far as it goes."
October 21, 2000 - Leo DiCaprio
barely made it to #99 on the list of Entertainment Weekly's 101 Most Powerful
People in Hollywood. While crediting Leo with being powerful enough to
turn down Star Wars to do Gangs of New York, they did list as 'debits'
his poor box office performance in The Beach as well as his ABC/Earth Day
interview with President Clinton which was "a titanic PR disaster".
October 21, 2000 - Gisele
commented on Access Hollywood regarding rumors her and Leo were getting
married by saying, "...I think they're (the press) crazy... that's crazy
. . . I think they're crazy."
October 20, 2000 - The New
York Daily News reports that there was "deep skepticism" over Leo and Gisele's
rumored marriage at the eYada.com Gossip Summit.
October 20, 2000 - Fox411's
Roger Friedman reports that he doubts the story of Leo getting publically
yelled at on the set of Gangs of New York as the director has never in
the past invited confrontation. He also reports that one of Leo's friends
he talked to had no idea of the marriage story or the reports of all night
partying and doubts that it's true.
October 20, 2000 - The New
York Daily News' Liz Smith on recent Leo rumors "his rep says we can go
to the bank with: 'He's absolutely not engaged', 'He's not partying', 'Martin
Scorsese did not scold him on the set of Gangs of New York', 'He looks
terrific' and 'He's working out everyday.'"
October 17, 2000 - The New
York Daily News today is reporting that they're hearing Gisele Bundchen
has been trying on wedding dresses designed by Laura Biagiotti and that
Leo is said to have approached the American consulate there about documents
needed for a wedding. Despite this, his rep insisted that they are not
engaged.
October 17, 2000 - More details
on the rumored wedding of Leo and Gisele, as London's Sunday Mail reports
"Leo told pals that he wanted to make the occasion special. He filled her
hotel suite with flowers and ordered a 300 [pound, about $438] bottle of
champagne."
October 15, 2000 - Additional
info regarding Leo's problems being tardy at Gangs of New York is being
published by the Post today, as they claim "Martin Scorsese finally lashed
out at Leo the other day with a 'humiliating, 10-minute roasting in front
of other actors, cameramen and stuntmen.'"
October 15, 2000 - In a E
Online story highlighting the top career blunders in Hollywood, #3 on the
list was Leo, where they said, "After the astounding success of Titanic,
Leonardo DiCaprio seemed to drown in a sea of uncertainty. Instead of committing
to a picture that might not live up to the James Cameron blockbuster, he
toyed with several projects, from Star Wars: Episode 1--The Phantom Menace
to American Psycho. When Leo finally did take a part, it was in The Beach,
which washed away in no time flat."
October 15, 2000 - An interesting
eBay auction of an original 30" Leonardo DiCaprio doll as King Louis XIV,
created by Alan Jong is bidding on eBay. The hand sculpted piece (item
#465720730) has an opening bid of $1,500 and ends October 21st.
October 15, 2000 - Rumors
that Leo popped the question to Gisele are gaining momentum as Megastar
today reported he proposed on one knee - and with a £125,000 diamond
and platinum ring, with Gisele bursting into tears and saying yes. A fashion
insider said of the union "It's a lovely ring. A lot of the girls are envious
that she's hooked Leo but they're very happy for her. They make a great
couple."
October 15, 2000 - Leo's
autographed picture is up for bids on ebay. The photo (item #467635010)
is bid at $25 and the auction wraps up October 20th.
October 13, 2000 - Prinz
Online reports that Gangs of New York Director Martin Scorsese requested
Leo to apologize to the crew after showing up late to filming in Rome after
partying with girlfriend Gisele Bundchen.
October 13, 2000 - There
are rumors swirling after a German tabloid made claims that Leo and Gisele
may be planning marriage, according to a message board poster at Leofans.com.
October 12, 2000 - HollywoodGossip.com
is reporting that Leo is being persued to star in Boy Still Missing, a
thriller about a young man who has an affair with his dad's mistress, which
leads to a grisly murder. They also report Leo is fighting with George
Clooney in the role of jazz musician Chet Baker in a film about his life.
October 12, 2000 - Leo on
the price of fame, "Fame is a monster you have no control over, and no
matter what you do, things are going to get mutated in the press. That's
the learning process I had. I didn't want to turn into a hermit. I wanted
to live my life and do whatever the hell I wanted to do."
October 7, 2000 - James Ulmer's
Hollywood Hot List is ranking Leonardo DiCaprio at #9 in a list of the
film industry's most bankable performers, with Julia Roberts in the top
spot.
October 7, 2000 - Leo's and
Kate Winslet's autographed picture is up for bids on ebay. The photo (item
#457989859) is bid at $11.50 and the auction wraps up October 13th.
October 6, 2000 - The New
York Post reports Gisele and Leo are enjoying their time together in Rome
at a hotel penthouse. Gisele's in town for in Narciso Rodriguez's show
where she's only making $4,000.
October 5, 2000 - E! Online's
Ted Casablanca in his weekly column answered a reader's question concerning
his cryptic comments about Leo's fling with a 'celebrated creature', commented,
"That's between me, Leo and the goat. Puh-leez. If I didn't tell you then,
why would I tell you now?"
October 5, 2000 - E! Online's
Ted Casablanca on a chatter's question asking if Leo's flipped his lid,
said "What's up with his belly? Why girls are still flocking to this dude
is beyond me. And unlike Celine's heart, I hear, he doesn't go on." When
attacked for these comments, he retorted, "I'm only jealous of the success
with which Leo has been able to glide through his sea of hedonism. Certainly
not his biceps."
October 2, 2000 - Recently
stunned this weekend in her rythmic gymnastics competition in the
Olympics, where the dominant athlete settled for bronze, Alina
Kabaeva from Russia has made the following comments on Leo, "My idols…
I do not know. I like Tom Cruise. But I do not like Leonardo DiCaprio.
All are crazy about him, but I do not like him and his movie Titanic."
