23, 2002 - Associated Press reports rapper Lil' Bow Wow's headlining appearance
to honor students today at Southern University-Shreveport, where he'll
rap about staying in school and off drugs, won't be seen by all of the
students invited. Robert Schiller, Caddo Parish school superintendent,
said Saturday that "to endorse commercially sponsored activities during
the school days" is inconsistent with discipline policies and would set
a precedent. Others cited that they were given too little notice. Read

spoke with LIl' Bow Wow recently where he was quized on the coolest person
he's ever met. Bow Wow said, "Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson and all the
basketball stars. No, wait. Michael Jackson." As for whether he's a better
rapper than Lil' Romeo, Bow Wow said, "I started it. I was the first."

of Spin magazine spoke with Lil' Bow Wow at the MTV Rock 'N Jock basketball
game where he told them, "I want the cover of the magazine. I'm the youngest
artist ever to go triple platinum." Well Pink got the cover, Bow Wow got
a paragraph.

Carter of the Detroit Free Press profiled the recent move in hip hop from
the many rappers using 'Big' in their monikers to now using 'Lil'. George
Martinez, a leading hip-hop activist in New York said, "It's a youth movement.
The market is dominated by 13- to 18-year-olds. They're buying the records,
the advertising and the material." Read more.
Of course with Bow Wow's recent decision to drop the 'Lil', maybe this
trend will be switching again.

Gonzales of XXL Magazine spoke with Lil' Bow Wow and his mother Teresa
Caldwell in a feature article. Asking about recording his first album,
'Beware of Dog', Bow Wow recalled, "Recording that first album was so hard,
because sometimes it felt like it took forever to record just one song.
There were times when I just wanted to go home, and other times when I
was playing around too much. But, I'm a teenage kid, you know. There are
times I rather have fun than work. Jermaine taught me a lot about having

an in-studio guest on Z100 Thursday evening to talk with Z100's Romeo and
listen to callers tell how much they loved him trying to win autographed
prizes.

reports Lil' Bow Wow has dropped the Lil' from his name after the onslaught
of Lil' imitators that have since followed him. Bow Wow said on TRL earlier
today, "I changed my name because I'm getting older now and it's too many
Lil's. All these Lil' rappers, I'm just kind of getting real irritated
by it. I said, 'You know what? Drop the Lil'. Forget it. I'm Bow Wow.'
Besides, I'm growing up, I'm not little anymore. [I just decided] two weeks
ago. I really got irritable. It's all these Lil' cats, forget it. I'm Bow
Wow now. Everything is just 'Bow Wow,' no 'Lil' Bow Wow.'" Read more.

Wow was on Regis and Kelly earlier today and the only thing you could really
walk away with after the interview was how clueless both were about the
young rapper. Kelly Ripa even asked if he knew Snoop Dogg! He did say he

of the Associated Press spoke with Lil Bow Wow about the run of kid rappers
that has seemed to follow him. Lil' Bow Wow said, "I started it. I was
the first. I really opened up the gate and the next thing you know, another
'little' comes and another 'little' comes, and another 'little' comes,
and it's not stopping. It makes me feel good. I'm at the point where I
