November 16, 2003 - 'Chicken
& Beer' sees Ludacris taking a return shot at Fox News host Bill O'Reilly
on the tracks 'Blow It Out' and 'Hoes in My Room'. But as the rapper explains,
that's not the end. "I still haven't gotten the last word. He still talks
about me on his show," Ludacris told MuchMusic. "There's still racism in
America and he's a hypocrite but there you have it. It was just me coming
back and stating some things that I thought I needed to say. Me staying
successful, that's what's really going to get back at this individual.
Whether I talk about him or not as long as I stay in his face and continue
success that's what's going to get on his nerves."
November 13, 2003 - The Cornell
Daily Sun reports that a white female student assaulted Sunday night leaving
the Nappy Roots and Ludacris concert at Barton Hall says she was the victim
of a hate-crime, which left her with a ruptured ear drum and thirteen stiches
on her face. The incident, as described by the victim, began when the student
had a minor altercation with another girl who was at the concert while
the performace was still going on. "She said 'Get your white hair out of
my face,'" the student said. Later, after separating from her friends after
the concert, she found herself surrounded by a group made up of five black
females and one black male, who have yet to be identified. "They said they
were gonna fu** up my pretty white face," she said. Allegedly, the incident
turned physically violent when one of the girls slapped the student hard
enough to rupture her eardrum, a blow which threw her off balance. The
other five assailants proceeded to kick and punch her as she fell down.

November 11, 2003 - Joshua
Ostroff of the Toronto Eye spoke with Ludacris about his new album 'Chicken
N Beer', the 'Dirty South', his run-in with Bill O'Reilly and what Pepsi
has done to apologize for the situation, and the promotion of materialism
in hip-hop. On the latter subject, Ludacris says, "If you have it, you
can talk about it. In an urban community a lot of people come from an unfortunate
place so for them to get certain things, they like to talk about it. We
like to be flashy and show off what we have. I don't think there's anything
wrong with it as long as your whole album isn't just talking about that
one thing." Check out the entire interview here.
November 11, 2003 - Donald
Smith and Drew Akins of the Yale Daily News reviewed Ludacris' latest effort
'Chicken-N-Beer'. They write, "With this album, Ludacris proves that he
is much more than a passing fad in the rap game and cements his place among
the top hip-hop artists in the industry today. In an age where the thug
image has become a requirement for success and where rappers wear bullet
wounds like badges of honor, Ludacris proves that an artist can still be
successful using humor and wit in his lyrics." Read more.
