December 27, 2004 - Tupac Shakur grabs his third posthumous Billboard 200 chart-topper as 'Loyal to the Game' enters the Billboard album chart at No. 1. The set, which sold 330,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, becomes the late rapper's fifth No. 1 on the tally. December 20, 2004 - The Montgomery Advertiser reports that a charity appearance by Ludacris at a Montgomery mall was brought to an end after the crowds became uncontrollable and threatened the security of the stores. Police detained at least one person, though authorities said they made no arrests. "We expected a lot of people to show up but not to this degree," said Kristy Jansen, marketing director at Montgomery Mall. "People were trying to get in through the gate and beat on the glass of the store so we had to stop the event in the interest of safety." Read more.

December 6, 2004 - After being locked into a bidding war with Sony Music USA and Warner Music Group, The New York Daily News reports Island Def Jam Music Group has purchased Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace record imprint for $11 million. "It came down to the wire, and it came down to money," an insider tells Lloyd Grove. "Luda is already on the Def Jam label, but his Disturbing Tha Peace imprint is a huge get. In L.A. and New York, it's sink or swim with new artists - after a year, you could be gone. But everybody in Atlanta is, like, cultured and nurtured.
