June 30, 2002 - Jim Schembri of The Age caught up with Mandy Moore recently who talked frankly about how lucky she is to be in the position where she's at now. "There are so many people in the world that are prettier, that sing better, that can act better, that even have more drive than I do," she says. "Not to say that I didn't work hard, because I worked my butt off to get where I am today, but you always have to remember how (success) simply is luck and talent." Read more.

June 30, 2002 - Karen Bliss of Rolling Stone talked briefly with Mandy Moore about her latest film role in 'How To Deal'. Mandy explains, "I play a cynical, jaded teenage girl who doesn't really believe in love because there are all these examples of love gone wrong around her. June 24, 2002 - Mandy Moore responded to a post on her official site's forum questioning whether her hanging out with Kelly Osbourne had contributed to her appearing to gain weight in a recent photo. In response to wondering if Kelly was being a "bad influence" on Mandy, she responded, "Hehe.. It's just a BAD picture. No one looks great from that angle. I know you weren't being harsh... but yowzah!! Being friends with someone who is quite comfy in their own skin is taken as being a bad influence on me?? I don't see your point babe lol. June 23, 2002 - Mandy Moore posted a message to fans on Friday, giving an update on her role in 'How to Deal' and plans to take on one more film role before returning to the studio to work on a new album. Mandy writes, "I think we have a producer lined up (whose work I am in love with) and already compiling material for the studio. I can't wait to get back in and start singing soon. June 19, 2002 - The Sun-Herald chatted with Mandy Moore during her stopover in Australia recently. Mandy talked about how she's not alone in the recent trend of female pop stars trying to break free of the industry's sex-pot image. "It's prevalent but ... gosh, I guess it's just because it's the obvious choice, it's the easy road to travel, that's why so many people decide to take that road. But I think in a way there have been some artists recently who have tried to change that, it's not necessarily about the sex selling any more, it's become a lot more about the music, about them just trying to be themselves." As for Britney Spears, who started the trend, Mandy explains, "I think that works for her. She's been very successful so far doing it, but it definitely couldn't have worked for me. I guess I don't have the confidence, the inner-confidence in myself, to pull that off." Read more.

June 19, 2002 - Mandy Moore recently divulged her fans into a little secret delicacy. When asked on her personal BBS Rumor Mill if she enjoyed eating her underwear crust, Miss Moore responded "of course I do... with A1 sauce."

June 15, 2002 - A fan quizzed Mandy Moore on what she thought of another young pop star, Avril Lavigne. Mandy reponded earlier today saying, "To be honest, I haven't even heard her song lol. I have seen her pic and read one interview in some teen magazine that made me kinda, well, um, I dunno. I think when people make such a huge stink about who they are or who they aren't, well it's just a bit old. I have been through it and hey, it sucks as girl that you have to put up such a defense that you are someone different then say, Britney... but come on. Don't take it too far. Anyways, she seems to being doing well, good for her. Gotta check it out."

June 15, 2002 - Mandy Moore was asked about a sexy photo that apparently appeared in July's FHM magazine (must've been the UK edition, as the US copy I have doesn't have it). Mandy insisted that the shot was from YM magazine and she did it over a year ago. Mandy said, "Woah, woah, woah! That picture was taken a year and a half ago for YM magazine. I don't know what FHM thing you are talking about. I will never do a photoshoot for a men's mag. Nope. no thanks. However, I have no control if the photographer decides to sell his shoot or some select pics to any other magazine. And fyi: that is a pic of me, not some fake, doctored thing. June 10, 2002 - Mandy Moore gave high praise to Sarah Michelle Gellar on her official website forum on Sunday. Moore writes, "Sarah is amazing. Not only is she beautiful, sincere, hard-working, and talented, but she is a wonderfully kind person to top it off. I thought she kicked ass co-hosting the MTV Movie Awards (best awards show I have seen in a long time). She was also the first person I saw as I walked off stage, waiting to give me a hug. What a good friend!"

Mandy said, "Where do they get this stuff? Wow... unreal. Can't a guy and girl be friends anymore? Geez."

June 4, 2002 - Jeannette Walls of MSNBC was on hand at Saturday's MTV Movie Awards, and the site has a video clip of Kelly Osbourne covering (and not very well) Madonna's 'Papa Don't Preach'. Despite the nervous performance, Walls says Mandy Moore was spotted congratulating her after the performance. Read more.

June 4, 2002 - The New York Post reports Elijah Wood had a romance with is 'Try Seventeen' co-star Mandy Moore, but began dating another woman on the film, 27-year-old Franka Potente. Liz Smith said, "The palpable heartbreak of young Mandy has been hard for co-workers to watch, as Elijah and Franka moon around over one another on the set." For the record, Mandy finished 'Try Seventeen' awhile ago and has denied dating Elijah.

June 3, 2002 - Mandy Moore tells The Sunday Telegraph that she's on a mission to meet an eligible Sydney bachelor when she travels to Australia in July. "If I have any free time, I'll just be scouring the streets trying to find a new friend," she revealed. "That would be a wonderful thing. I'm all for at least making new friends and just meeting new people. Maybe I'll be lucky and do that when I'm down there. I've dated here and there after the break-up (with That '70s Show's Wilmer Valderrama), but nothing too serious." Read more.
