addressed rumors that she was furious over Mariah being signed by Virgin
Records during an appearance on Much Music saying, "That is so untrue,
I just found out that somebody made this rumor up in New York. I sent Mariah

York Post reports Janet Jackson is furious at Virgin Records for signing
Mariah Carey for $23.5 million compared to her $10 million. Jackson is
also worried she won't get near the level of promotion that Mariah will

April 18, 2001 - The New
York Post reports Mariah and Luis are still an item, as the two joined
up last weekend in Spain. Luis again showered Mariah with expensive gifts
this time a Van Cleef & Arpel diamond bracelet that a source revealed
was " the same bracelet Julia Roberts borrowed for the Oscars."
April 15, 2001 - Saturday
Night Live's Tina Fey joked about Mariah during the Weekend Update saying,
"Mariah Carey last week signed a recording contract with Virgin Records
worth $25 million an album. The signing's considered a coup for the company,
although Virgin Records will now have to change its name to Skank Records."
April 14, 2001 - Mariah has
two audio messages to fans up on her official site talking about recording
more songs on the All That Glitters soundtrack in Spain as well as working
on the first video which will incorporate the movie as well. Check it out

Roger Friedman reports on details as to why Sony let Mariah out of her
music deal for All that Glitters as a source revealed, "The movie is very
biographical. You’re going to see a lot of references to Mariah’s marriage
to Tommy Mottola. It’s better that he doesn’t have to deal with it."
April 11, 2001 - The New
York Daily News reports the final figure on Mariah's deal with Virgin is
$23.5 million per album in a five album deal.
April 10, 2001 - The Enquirer
profiled celebrities who've reportedly had implants showing these before-after
photos of Mariah Carey, the first being from 1991.

is featured in a pair of autographed photos being auctioned on ebay. The

$9.99 and the auction ends today. The other features Mariah in a locker

the deal could be worth up to $29 million per album and $86 million total.

Roger Friedman wonders in his Tuesday column why Sony and Tommy Mottola
apparently let Mariah take her All that Glitters soundtrack with her to
Virgin Records. My guess though is Sony didn't want another Leanne Rimes
incident
and negotiated some sort of cash-out with Virgin.
April 3, 2001 - The bidding
war for Mariah Carey is over. Mariah signed a multi-album deal with Virgin
Records that insiders say will pay her more than $20 million per record,
making it the largest recording contract of all time.
