November 30, 2002 - Elysa Gardner of USA Today spoke with Mariah Carey, who explained her hospitalization was caused by "a collapse from exhaustion" rather than the more complex psychological or chemical problems. "Yes, I was in a bad place emotionally, but anyone would be at that point of total physical depletion," Carey said. "I began seeing a therapist, and he told me, 'Look, you didn't have a nervous breakdown. It's a form of torture not to be allowed to sleep.' He said I had to start setting boundaries in life, to learn how to say no. 
It's taken some people a while to understand that, but now they do. I've actually made up contracts that people who work with me have to sign, so they know I must have lunch breaks and dinner breaks and five or six hours of sleep a night." Read more.

November 30, 2002 - Mariah Carey has explained her impromptu strip-tease on MTV's Total Request Live on the network's 'Mariah Carey: Shining Through the Rain' special, which airs at 9 p.m. ET Tuesday on MTV. "The drama, the saga of the TRL," Carey recalls. "Like we were doing Dateline and suddenly I went into like a striptease burlesque show. I'm like, it's TRL, I thought you were supposed to feel at home and do stupid stuff." She adds, "I'm not going to stop being me because people don't get me. November 28, 2002 - Access Hollywood's Billy Bush caught up with Mariah Carey and asked the singer about Eminem's claim that rumors of a romance between the pair were true. "No. Can I just clarify that I did not have a physical relationship with him. I did not have an intimate relationship. I've been with less men than I can -- you know, than on one hand. November 28, 2002 - After erratic behavior while promoting 'Glitter' last summer, Mariah Carey had a complete physical and emotional breakdown and ended up checking into a private hospital. Now she tells the Today Show's Matt Lauer it was as bad as it looked. "I went up to my mom's house, and I literally collapsed," she said. "And she was just nervous, like anybody -- any mother would be. She was freaked out." Matt asked, "So you're in a ball on the floor? You're lying on the bed?" "Yeah, like you know, just collapsed sitting there," Mariah Responded, "Like, you know, I pretty much blacked out. And i didn't -- you know, I didn't -- my mother didn't know what to do." Asked if she called 9-1-1, Mariah said, "Yeah, she called 9-1-1, which was not the star, you know, the superstar thing to do."

November 28, 2002 - Mariah Carey appears with talk show host Oprah Winfrey during taping of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' November 21st in Chicago, where Carey talks about her recovery from her emotional and physical breakdowns last year. November 28, 2002 - Mariah Carey left a new message for her 'Charmers'. She said, "Hello. Hey lambs, I'm just calling in from Japan. umm, We just did the first day of, umm, shooting for the video on 'The One'. And it was kind of, umm, intense, but it was really good and I think the video is going to be really great. And I just want to say I've been checking in and I know how hard you guys are working. You are definitely the TRL Charmers. And I love you much, appreciate you so much, and thank you so much for all your hard work. And I'm gonna be on TRL on the 16th, and I hope to see you all, umm, as soon as possible. Maybe some of you will be there. And, again, thank you. Thank you so much. November 28, 2002 - Star magazine reports Kathy Griffin opens her new stand-up act by poking fun at a video of Mariah Carey's appearance on MTV's 'Cribs'. While Mariah shows off her home, Kathy stops the action and makes fun of all the eccentricities of the scene, from the singer hopping into a bubble bath wrapped in a towl, to a scene where the cat she's holding scratches her and they both fall to the floor screeching. During Mariah's workout on her StairMaster while wearing stilettos and a miniskirt, Kathy rolls her eyes and screamed, "What is she thinking?"

November 27, 2002 - Dan Leroy of Launch.com had a mixed review of Mariah Carey's new album 'Charmbracelet'. Leroy called the album "a step ahead of the J-Los of the world; a step behind what may prove to be a career pinnacle." 'Charmbracelet' is due out December 3rd in North America. Read more.

November 27, 2002 - Mariah Carey was featured on Rove in Australia on Tuesday night. The interview displays a very happy & and relaxed Mariah as she talks with Rove & jokes that he brought on her breakdown, as he was the last interviewer to interview her before the event last year. Mariah also talks of the new album, the promo visit in Europe, wanting to come back to Australia & going on a date with Rove to swim with the dolphins again. November 27, 2002 - Mariah Carey tells the Associated Press that her time on the tiny Italian island of Capri was a much-needed and therapeutic break. "I put all the things I had gone through into my music," Carey told reporters in Tokyo yesterday. "In general, in my life, I'm in a really good, happy place." Read more.

November 27, 2002 - Japan Today reports police have issued a warning to an official of a video production company for failing to acquire a permit for a video shooting session with Mariah Carey in a busy Tokyo square, the police said Tuesday. The police said they gave the verbal reprimand to the 41-year-old production firm official after the impromptu shooting session took place at around 9:40 p.m. Monday in the Shibuya district, causing a commotion and traffic jam, with several hundred people stopping to look. November 26, 2002 - Mariah Carey's official site reports the singer was in Tokyo today to film the video for her next single, 'The One'. Fans went crazy when they heard the superstar was in town and flocked to the first location of the video shoot which was to take place in Tokyo's City Center. Between 10,000 to 15,000 excited fans were there hours befor Mariah was scheduled to arrive forcing the Tokyo police to shut down the location due to the enormous crowd. The songstress went directly to the second location where thousands of fans were already waiting to catch a glimpse of their favorite star. The police had to shut down this location as well due to the huge crowd forcing Mariah to move to the third location where she was finally able to shoot some of the video. November 26, 2002 - The New York Daily News profiled Mariah Carey's several upcoming television appearances ahead of the December 3rd release of 'Charmbracelet'. The big hour long interview for 'Oprah' may have surprised those that thought Carey would sit down with ABC's Barbara Walters, an interview she planned to do before last year's 'Glitter' flop and her physical and emotional breakdown. "They wanted 'Oprah' first," said Carey's spokeswoman of the decision. "There was a new label, new decision." Mariah will make an appearance on The View with Walters on December 17th. Read more.

November 25, 2002 - Brian Steinberg of the Associated Press reports on the latest rage in the music industry which of course is guest appearances by other artists which seem to dominate in the Billboard singles charts. Examples noted are Jennifer Lopez's 'Jenny From The Block' with Jadakiss and Styles, Carlos Santana with Michelle Branch on 'The Game of Love', and the upcoming Mariah Carey single 'You Got Me', featuring Jay-Z and Freeway. "Is this a legitimate art form or is it a gimmick?" asks New York entertainment attorney Andy Tavel. "It's a little of both." Read more.

November 23, 2002 - Mariah Carey performed 'Through The Rain' and 'My Saving Grace' on the Oprah show taping today and reportedly did an "amazing job" which blew the audience away. She discussed the breakdown, the death of her father, EMI/Virgin and being a celebrity. The interview is sure to do amazing things for promotion of the album around the world. The show will air in the US on December 3rd, the day 'Charmbracelet' is released.

November 23, 2002 - Today Mariah Carey called in to her website and left the following message: "Hey Lambs, Just wanted to call and say hey I'm back in the States for a minute and I just want to thank everybody all the fans I met in England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland everywhere you guys are the best I enjoy ya as always. November 22, 2002 - Lianne George of the National Post caught up with Tony Young, a.k.a. Master T, who left his job as a MuchMusic video jockey after more than a decade to get his thoughts on working at the network, and why he left. Tony says two of his least favourite interviews of all time are Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez, both of whom showed up with a long list of demands and short, curt answers. "Both J. Lo and Mariah Carey are interviews I'd like to get a second crack at," says Young. "Like, with Mariah Carey, I always say I'd like to go to McDonald's with her and go shopping at the mall and talk with her. J.Lo, I'd actually wait until her fifth marriage." Read more.

November 22, 2002 - The Mirror reports the reason Mariah Carey refused to sing live when she appeared on BBC 1's Fame Academy was because she didn't get enough sleep. "Mariah told us all that she couldn't sing live if she hadn't had 12 hours sleep," said the Academy's Marli Buck. "The funny thing was that all of us had to sing live and didn't have the option to mime. We really wanted to hear her for real, but ended up doing the high notes ourselves."

November 22, 2002 - Mariah Carey chatted with Mojo in the morning in Detroit a while ago... before the 'Glitter' movie. It was an interesting interview because she addressed the Eminem gossip and the beef with Jennifer Lopez. Mariah actually argued with her managers while on the call as well. November 21, 2002 - Mariah Carey phoned Rick Dees on KIIS FM last Thursday all the way from Paris. She will be performing live at the Rick Dees Jingle Ball, December 19th at the Pond of Anaheim in California. Mariah talked about her appearance on 'Fame Academy', her new album 'Charmbracelet', the stories that have her dating Eminem, dealing with the tabloids, and more. November 21, 2002 - The Philadelphia Daily News reports veteran mob actor Frank Vincent and former Cherry Hill resident Lou Silver have scripted 'Sinking Springs,' based on the Amish/Pagans Motorcycle Club cocaine trafficking of the mid-1990s. The film is scheduled to shoot around Philadelphia and Lancaster in March, starring James Caan as an FBI agent and Vincent also playing against type as a lawman. Mariah Carey will play a drug addict in the film.

November 21, 2002 - Anonymous writes "Rap-Up.com shows Mariah Carey and Cam'ron's version of 'Boy (I Need You)' at #1 on it's hot list. The song, which will be released on Carey's upcoming album 'Charmbracelet' (December 3), is a yet to be released R&B mix. November 20, 2002 - MTV News reports Mariah Carey's collaboration with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake entitled 'Yours' will not appear on the singer's 'Charmbracelet' album, due December 3rd. "Justin and I did a song together called 'Yours,' which is probably going to be on the remix of that song," she said. "He did an amazing job on the vocals and I was happy with what he did. It's sort of a romantic, mid tempo R&B record that Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and I wrote together." Read more.

November 20, 2002 - Although all accounts point to 'The One' being the second single release from Mariah Carey's 'Charmbracelet', the only confimation MonarC are giving at this point is "The 2nd single has not been confirmed yet. A decision will be made at the end of this week. We will be posting the next single in the news section of MariahCarey.com site next week." So be sure to keep an eye on MariahCarey.com for confirmation of the 2nd single, although MTV & VH1 are both saying it is 'The One'. So hold on to your breath updates coming soon.

November 16, 2002 - Globe magazine reports that after brief flings with his '8 Mile' co-stars Kim Basinger and Brittany Murphy, Eminem moved on to Mariah Carey, who had just been dumped by her boyfriend, Luis Miguel. "He really liked her initially and said the sex was very hot," confided a source. "But he lost interest in her and ended up giving her the heave-ho." Then, after a brief fling with a Detroit stripper, Eminem returned to his 27-year-old ex-wife Kim. "No matter what he does, he can't stop loving Kim," a pal said. "He just doesn't want to be with anyone else."

November 15, 2002 - The New York Daily News reports claims J.R. Watkins, the woman who recently released a book about Eminem called 'Cleaning Out My Closet' says Eminem ended a relationship with Mariah Carey because the pop star "wanted his undivided attention." Watkins tells The National Enquirer, "He told me Mariah was too high-maintenance and jealous of the time he spent with his daughter." Carey's spokeswoman told the Daily News, "This is laughable." A friend of Carey's added, "This is a guy who has had an obsession with her for years. He had a poster of her hanging up in his room. He had pictures of her in his wallet." Read more.

November 15, 2002 - A brand new website for MariahCarey.com has been launched today, with a special greeting from Mariah herself upon entering. Meanwhile, the singer announced today a sweepstakes where each month a winner is chosen who will have the opportunity to see Mariah in person. Winners and a guest will receive round trip airfare to the event and hotel accommodations. Examples of where the winner could see Mariah are a television appearance, a concert date, or public appearance i.e. Mall of America in December. Purchasers of Charmbracelet will place the CD in their computer and will be driven to a hidden website where they will be able to enter the sweepstakes. Without the CD you are not able to get to this website.

November 14, 2002 - The Mirror reports Mariah Carey decided she wanted to jet off to Rome for a bite to eat after her performances on SM:tv and CD:uk with Westlife. Carey arrived back in London to her recording studio late with her entourage, and had three burly bouncers carry in four gigantic suitcases, marked with white stickers saying "Mariah - small bags." They brought in the bags despite Carey only staying in the studio for an hour. Read more.

November 13, 2002 - WENN reports Mariah Carey has explained why she had her breakdown last year, attributing it to overburdeneding herself by taking on almost every contract that came her way. "I felt I had to do it because of the money," Carey said. "I have never before made any decisions in my life based on the money, and I never will again. When you are on camera you have got to be effervescent. You're not going to be sitting there eating turkey slices while you are talking on television."

November 10, 2002 - The Sunday People is reporting Mariah Carey is insisting that her dressing room for the MTV Europe Awards in Barcelona, Spain this month have pink furry cushions and matching curtains. Since the room doesn't have any windows, it's hard to see why Carey would want curtains.

November 10, 2002 - Mariah Carey has denied that she was ever suicidal late last year. "I sure as hell know I didn't try and kill myself," she told Glamour magazine. "That would never enter my mind." Without a trace of irony, she then added, "I am a God-fearing person so that part really killed me."

November 9, 2002 - MTV's Total Request Live played a clip of Mariah Carey meeting several of her fans for an upcoming special that airs on the network the day the album is released next month, December 3rd. November 9, 2002 - a_rod221 writes "The lyrics of 'Clown' brought on quite a discussion at message boards across the internet for two reasons, the extreme diss to Eminem and Mariah Carey using profanity that she has never done before on an album. In 'Clown' Mariah reportedly sings 'I should've never given you my f%@#in two way' which made many fans wonder if this will cause the album to have a parental advisory sticker on it, or a clean version. A MonarC representative today told MariahBuzz, "There is no parental advisory sticker on the album." This means it is still open for all ages to purchase."

November 8, 2002 - Mariah Carey phoned into her official website to leave a message for fans. Mariah said, "Yeah!! Just calling in to say hey and to let everybody know, all the fans that I've been meeting around the world that I am really enjoying meeeting you and things of that nature, all the little gifts and all the nice letters and things that I have been receiving, and there's a special guest here that wants to say hello, hold on a minute." November 8, 2002 - Jay-Z was Carson Daly's guest on MTV's Total Request Live on Thursday where he spoke kind words of Mariah Carey, who was at #7 on the countdown. Carson asked, "Always wonderful to work with Mariah I imagine?" Jay said, "Always wonderful to work with, very humble and sweet." Carson added, "I don't know how she can be in a gown and be so sweet and eating Doritos." Jay agreed, "Yeah, she's great." 

November 8, 2002 - Mariah Carey graces the cover of the new Glamour magazine in the UK. "The lovely thing about Mariah Carey," says writer David A. Keeps, "is that she doesn't try to dismiss her experience or let it diminish her. She still believes in beauty and love and herself, which seems to be the very definition of a Glamour woman."
