February 27, 2003 - baderhero writes "The 17th Annual Soul Train Music Awards will present Mariah Carey with the 2003 Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievements in the Field of Entertainment (female) during the live broadcast of the ceremony on March 1st. Mariah will also be performing at the show."

February 24, 2003 - NationalJeweler.com reports Mariah Carey wore a charm bracelet during her appearance at the Daytona 500 last Sunday (February 16). The gift was from Daytona International Speedway, and featured 11 sterling silver charms commemorating the motorsports event manufactured by Rembrandt Charms. The charms included a miniature NASCAR logo, a spark plug, a motor home, a racing helmet, Daytona 500 logos and a Photoart charm of Mariah's latest album. A replica of the bracelet and an autographed jewelry box, together valued at $1,500, will be featured on the NASCAR eBay auction in March to benefit Speediatrics, a pediatric ward at the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. February 22, 2003 - Star magazine named Mariah Carey as its 10th most elligible bachelorette, and included the following ficticious singles ad: "Love takes time, DWF, 32, blonde/brown. Statuesque (5-feet-9, 140 pounds) solo singer looking to duet with a Dreamlover. OK, so I've been called a Heartbreaker by my ex-husband and datemates like Derek Jeter and Eminem. And I've had a few down spots, like being hospitalized for exhaustion and my less-than-golden movie 'Glitter'. But I have a lot ot offer the right guy who will Always Be My Baby. Must not mind legions of fans, whom I call my 'lambs' and spend oodles of time with on my website. Got what it takes? Give me a shot - even divas need love."

February 22, 2003 - Mariah Carey left the following message on her official website on Thursday: "Hey lambs! Yeah, I'm calling you from a cell phone on my way to the airport but I'm gonna be quick, 'cause I don't wanna get cut off, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am that... for your support, everybody calling all the various video places and everything around the world that you guys are doing, it's so great and I'm so thankful 'cause 'Charmbracelet' means so much and the response and everything, the support, it's just... I can't even tell you how grateful I am to you, for everything you're giving me! So I love ya, I appreciate ya, I enjoy ya and yeah, you're making it happen. And I, I will holler back soon, I will call you from the vacation spot and Big Nasty says hello and he's gonna... you gotta hear his new album, it's gonna be fabulous and he's gonna leave a message soon, alright? February 22, 2003 - TRL reported on Friday that Mariah Carey has signed on to star in her next movie. She's actually doing a movie called 'Sweet Science,' playing a manager recruiting a young female boxer.

February 20, 2003 - Blender magazine spoke with Robbie Williams to weigh in on their Rock Goddesses selections, and the British singer was able to get digs in at Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, and Christina Aguilera. On Mariah, he said to the interviewer suggesting the two singles hook up, "You're carrying the McBonkers torch to the stadium of mad." And on Aguilera's makeover: "She's dirty and needs a wash." And on the lyrics to J.Lo's 'Jenny From The Block': "I love the song, but the lyrics... She's obviously a goddess, but she's obviously quite mad."

February 20, 2003 - In an interview with Blender Magazine, John Mayer was asked the following question: Blender: You've just come offstage after a sold-out show, and you're feeling manly and virile. Which rock goddess would you most like to find backstage wearing nothing but a smile? John Mayer: There's something about Mariah Carey--she's superhot and people don't realize how much influence she's had. But I don't watch TV and think "I want to be with them." I'd rather beat off in the shower to my schoolteacher from the second grade or whatever. It's just so much more possible.

February 20, 2003 - Teen Scene magazine asked Nivea whose wall she would land on if she were a fly. "Mariah Carey. She has been my main inspiration," Nivea responded. Since she couldn't decide whether she would rather land on the wall of Mariah's recording studio or in her home, she said she would just follow her around. Read more.

February 18, 2003 - Busta Rhymes chatted with Blender magazine in their March issue and talked about meeting Mariah Carey. "She was cool," Busta says of Carey, who sings on 'It Ain't Safe No More.' "She's incredibly professional, incredibly beautiful. One of the best singers in the game, hands down, despite the trials and tribulations. On every level it was extremely pleasant."

February 18, 2003 - David Browne of Entertainment Weekly sounds a sour note on the future of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Browne writes, "The apathetic public response to both 'Charmbracelet' and Whitney Houston's 'Just Whitney...' confirms that these two longstanding, long-screaming divas have met their expiration date." He added, "The lesson to learn from all this chaos would appear to be obvious: You can only take your control-freaky, money-flaunting, power-tripping behavior so far before it all comes crashing down around you. It's a lesson that has clearly made an impact on the two women who have replaced Whitney and Mariah in the hearts and stereos of America, namely Shania Twain and Jennifer Lopez." Read more.

February 18, 2003 - Mariah Carey won the TRL Award for 'Best Free Ride', which she provided a free automobile for a fan. "Thank you so much for voting for me," Mariah said in a taped acceptance speech. "I just wanted to say that, uhm, I appreciate the fact that you guys are acknowledging these little gifts 'cause I enjoy givin' 'em to you. So thank you and I love you."

February 16, 2003 - 50 Cent was more than happy to give his two cents on Eminem and Mariah Carey. "It's 100 percent true," 50 told 94.5's Ramiro and Pebbles. "They are two huge stars that would secretly fly into cities to meet one another." He says Slim has even promised him that he'd "hook him up" with Mariah. February 16, 2003 - SoHood.com caught up with Nivea and asked the singer who she looked up to growing up. "Mariah Carey definitely," Nivea said. "She was a great aspiration for me. Um, that's another long list. I was more into like Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Aretha Franklin, I don't know. It's just a long list." February 14, 2003 - Mariah Carey took part in an online chat with MSN and was asked about whether 'Yours', featuring *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake ever get released. "That's on his record company," Mariah responded. "I personally think it's great and I love what we did together and I would love for it to come out and he sounds really good on it. But it's up to his label. This would be a nice compliment to 'Cry Me A River'." The 'Yours' track doesn't appear on 'Charmbracelet', but Mariah had told MTV News she may release it on a remix single. February 14, 2003 - MuchMusic spoke with Mariah Carey in Atlanta at the All Star game, where she talked about her new album 'Charmbracelet', which she dedicated to the memory of her recently deceased father. "This year was very, very difficult," said Carey. "I've never experienced anything like going through somebody battling cancer and then ultimately losing that person but I think that what I learned is, it's about celebrating every single bit of time you have with someone who is close to you, someone who you're related to."

For instance, Mariah Carey came on my show. We had a face to face and she brought champagne and Chinese food we talked for two hours. She didn't walk out or get upset of nothing like that. February 7, 2003 - Ben Affleck gets razzed by Michael Clark Duncan, his 'Armageddon' co-star, about dating Jennifer Lopez. "I tease him about it every day," he tells the BBC. "I mean, come on! You walk into a grocery store and there’s one of your friends walking out of a pizza place with Jennifer Lopez. It’s just funny to read that he’s even going with her. I’m like, ‘I didn’t know he had that much charisma.’ I just see him as a goofy guy." Duncan also says that a wedding date has been set, but adds, "I know some things but I’m not gonna talk about it. February 7, 2003 - Cindy Adams of the New York Post chatted with hot record producer 7 Aurelius, who has been working with several top pop stars including Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Mariah Carey. On Britney, he says, "She's looking to go street." And J.Lo? "Her ass is phenomenal." Finally, how about Mariah? "I was on guard. All this security around. February 6, 2003 - The National Enquirer reports Mariah Carey and her entourage headed off to the tropical beach palace on the Caribbean island of Anguilla that is staffed by seven servants - including three international chefs - and rented for $35,000 a week. She didn't stay long though, leaving an hour after arrival, declaring it wasn't up to her standards. Mariah did not get a refund.

February 3, 2003 - Mariah Carey chatted with Vista magazine and was asked about the her feelings producing both uptempo hip-hop songs and ballads -- and which of the two she prefers. "I like both. I have a lot of different influences," Mariah said. "I grew up mostly on R&B music. My mother is an opera singer. I've done a lot of different collaborations, like with Pavarotti. He sang Hero in Italian, and I sang it in English for his charity event that he has every year.
