February 22, 2003 - Star
magazine named Mariah Carey as its 10th most elligible bachelorette, and
included the following ficticious singles ad: "Love takes time, DWF, 32,
blonde/brown. Statuesque (5-feet-9, 140 pounds) solo singer looking to
duet with a Dreamlover. OK, so I've been called a Heartbreaker by my ex-husband
and datemates like Derek Jeter and Eminem. And I've had a few down spots,
like being hospitalized for exhaustion and my less-than-golden movie 'Glitter'.
But I have a lot ot offer the right guy who will Always Be My Baby. Must
not mind legions of fans, whom I call my 'lambs' and spend oodles of time
with on my website. Got what it takes? Give me a shot - even divas need
love."
February 22, 2003 - Mariah
Carey left the following message on her official website on Thursday: "Hey
lambs! Yeah, I'm calling you from a cell phone on my way to the airport
but I'm gonna be quick, 'cause I don't wanna get cut off, but I just wanted
to say how grateful I am that... for your support, everybody calling all
the various video places and everything around the world that you guys
are doing, it's so great and I'm so thankful 'cause 'Charmbracelet' means
so much and the response and everything, the support, it's just... I can't
even tell you how grateful I am to you, for everything you're giving me!
So I love ya, I appreciate ya, I enjoy ya and yeah, you're making it happen.
And I, I will holler back soon, I will call you from the vacation spot
and Big Nasty says hello and he's gonna... you gotta hear his new album,
it's gonna be fabulous and he's gonna leave a message soon, alright? Love
you much, bye bye!" Listen to it here.

interview with Blender Magazine, John Mayer was asked the following question:
Blender: You've just come offstage after a sold-out show, and you're feeling

wearing nothing but a smile? John Mayer: There's something about Mariah
Carey--she's superhot and people don't realize how much influence she's
had. But I don't watch TV and think "I want to be with them." I'd rather
beat off in the shower to my schoolteacher from the second grade or whatever.
It's just so much more possible.

date." He added, "The lesson to learn from all this chaos would appear
to be obvious: You can only take your control-freaky, money-flaunting,
power-tripping behavior so far before it all comes crashing down around
you. It's a lesson that has clearly made an impact on the two women who
have replaced Whitney and Mariah in the hearts and stereos of America,
namely Shania Twain and Jennifer Lopez." Read more.
