February 26, 2004 - Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com reports that Mariah Carey was spotted wearing the red yarn bracelet that is a symbol of Kabbalah, but her spokeswoman denies that the singer has found a new religion, saying "it’s not a Kabbalah bracelet." As for reports Mariah has a new man in her life that is accompanying her on her world tour, the rep declined to comment on whether Carey has a new sweetie. Read more.

February 23, 2004 - The Star reports Mariah Carey's manager Michael Richardson said the singer had heard a lot about Malaysian batik and wanted to get some while in town as part of her 'Charmbracelet' tour. He said it would be unlikely Carey would wear any batik wear when she takes the stage at the Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur for her one-night performance Friday night. Lee writes, "Forget everything you’ve ever heard about her in the past couple of years. Forget the fact that she suffered a breakdown in 2001. Forget the fact that her semi-autobiographical movie, 'Glitter', was universally panned, and forget the fact that she holds the unenviable distinction of being paid off to leave her previous recording outfit after just the first album of a five-record deal. February 19, 2004 - Faridul Anwar Farinordin of Malaysia's New Straits Times caught up with Mariah Carey at the MTV Asia Awards to ask her about her first concert in Malaysia at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur. Carey said her upcoming show will be a mix of "interesting theatrical elements." She added, "It's gonna be a surprise and a great show. This time, Bianca (her brunette alter ego who was featured in her music videos and past concerts) won't be there. I thank all my fans for their continuous support and look forward to seeing them soon." As for the controversy the show prompted from local Muslim groups, Carey said, "As an artist, I understand the cultural sensitivities of a country. I didn't mean to offend anybody. February 14, 2004 - Though Mariah Carey has moved up the date of her performance at Merdeka Stadium in Malaysia from February 22nd to February 20th, UMNO Youth is still not happy as the new date is too close to the Maal Hijrah celebrations. "We appreciate the organisers' initiative to change the earlier date of the concert but the new date is still too close," UMNO Youth Religious Affairs Secretariat chief Shamsul Najmi Shamsuddin said. He complained that Awal Muharram was a significant event in Islam, the proximity of the concert was a cause for concern. Read more.

After playing clips of voice messages left on her official website, the DJ at hand questioned her sanity. Evan, who appeared in Mariah’s 'Bringin’ On The Heartbreak' music video as a helicopter pilot, commented, "You have to wonder what someone’s state of mind is when they want to do a video with a bunch of people screaming their name and asking for their autograph."" February 5, 2004 - Anonymous writes "O Fuxico reports that Mariah Carey declined a movie role where she would have to show her breasts. According to the German article Bild, the singer said she wouldn't accept the role even if they used a stunt, because that type of thing has nothing to do with her. "They would use a stunt of my body, but the next day the press would be saying that I showed my breasts and that I was naked in a movie", Carey explained."

February 1, 2004 - Ken Barnes of USA Today took part in an online chat with readers on Tuesday (January 27) and was asked by a Mariah Carey fan what the state of "one of the most talented singers on the planet's" career was in. "I'm thinking it's in fairly dire straits," Barnes responded. "She may make a comeback or two (perhaps duetting with a rapper or a younger, admiring singer like Christina Aguilera), but she won't regain her former standing.
