June 27, 2005 - RadioFreeRoscoe
writes "According to Groovevolt.com, Jennifer Lopez was reportedly overheard
having a conversation with friends at a club in LA. The singer reportedly
said that she is very unhappy with sales of her latest album and cites
the single 'It's Like That' by Mariah Carey being released one day after
'Get Right' as part of the reason. "She was bitching about how Mariah could
have waited," the source said. "It was like she believed the album could
have done better if Mariah didn't overshadow her first single. After her
friends started laughing, she began to laugh about it also." Read more."

June 18, 2005 - Anonymous
writes "USA Today music writer Ken Barnes took part in an online chat on
Tuesday and was asked if Mariah Carey is really the best selling female
artist, selling more worldwide then Madonna (250 Million) and Streisand
(180 Million). "My impression was that the claims on behalf of Mariah were
more along the lines of having more No. 1 singles than any other female
artist," Barnes said. "Many of her No. 1 hits are cheap ones, fueled by
deeply discounted singles in an era of severely depressed single sales
and at a time in the '90s when singles sales counted far more than radio
airplay on the charts. 'We'll Be Together' appears to be a totally legit
No. 1, though." Read the entire chat transcript here."
June 18, 2005 - Though Mariah
Carey was said to be furious at former publicist Marvet Britto after she
told a reporter, "Mariah needed [fashion] guidance," and that she'd brought
in style guru Andre Leon Talley "to help Mariah's broken relationships
with fashion houses. No one wanted to lend clothes to her," she insisted
to The New York Daily News that she left the job on her own. "I put an
amazing blueprint in place to take her album to No. 1," the promoter and
producer said. "I never planned to stay past that." And Carey's manager
Benny Medina agreed with Britto's claim. "Marvet did a terrific job," he
said. "They're still close friends."

June 7, 2005 - Elysa Gardner
of USA Today took part in a chat with readers on Tuesday (May 31), and
was asked about Mariah Carey's strong comeback with 'The Emancipation Of
Mimi'. "I'm also really happy for Mariah," Gardner told the fan. "People
have been tough on her, and she's been tough on herself. There are a couple
of gospel-y songs towards the end that could do well. As for touring, I
know she had been doing a lot before going into the studio, but we'll see."
Later asked if she was surprised by the comeback, Gardner said, "Surprised,
and pleased -- she's a hard worker, and a survivor. Good for her." Check
