July 29, 2005 - Dawn French tells Ann Montini of Sky News that she hopes to land Mariah Carey for her and Jennifer Saunders' forthcoming Christmas special. "She has a great sense of humor and told me that she would only appear if we provided white puppies and a sedan chair for her to be lifted about on," French said after meeting the singer at Live 8. "We're talking right now and hopefully something can be pulled off in time."

July 19, 2005 - After performing with a choir of African children, Mariah Carey tells The Mirror that being part of Live 8 was "too incredible for words." The diva gushed, "Those kids are so beautiful. I just want to pick them up and hug them. I spoke to Snoop and he feels the same about today. "'Glitter' was ahead of its time - today it's 'in' to make 80's music," Carey reasoned. "But the timing was bad - I released it around September 11, 2001. The talk shows needed something to distract from 9/11. I became a punching bag. I was so successful that they tore me down because my album was at number 2 instead of number 1.
