February 21, 2006 - Roger
Friedman of FoxNews.com offered several corrections for The New York Post's
Grammy night report. Friedman writes, "[Mariah] Carey, contrary to the
report, went straight to her party at Ron Burkle's estate following her
Grammy loss and remained there until 2 a.m. I know this only because I
saw her. Four hours is hardly a 'drive-by.'" Read more.

writes "Throughout last year, we've seen Mariah Carey emerge from the dark
and almost lowly place where she's been for the past 4 years, to the sunshiny
and spotless beacon where the Mariah Carey has always been
since her 90s debut. No artist in history has ever had the grander comeback
than Mariah Carey has as Mimi. No artist has ever swept almost every other
award show than Mariah has. With The Emancipation of Mimi , she has
received no less than 35 awards, awards which she receive from various
groups: music-loving people, consumers, various magazines, worldwide music
organizations, teens, and the ever-hard to please Grammys." Read more.

February 21, 2006 - Sal Cinquemani
of slant magazine weighed in on Wednesday night's Grammy Awards, and a
slight on Mariah Carey. "So what was up with Mariah's three wins Best Contemporary
R&B Album, Best R&B Song, and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
not being televised," Cinquemani asked. "Sure, they've switched things
up in recent years, keeping us on our toes for three-and-a-half hours by
no longer presenting trophies to artists immediately following their live
performances, but not letting Mariah accept an award on stage is a blatant
slap in the face to the female artist with the most nominations this year
and whose last CD was the biggest selling album of 2005." Read more.
February 21, 2006 - It was
Kanye West that warned about how he'd react to losing the Album of the
Year award at Wednesday night's Grammys, but when U2 took home the honor,
it was Mariah Carey who was the most upset loser, a source tells The New
York Post. The singer refused to come out of her dressing room post-show
(though she did do an interview afterwards with Grammy television host
CBS). "She ended up back at her hotel with a small group of friends," a
spy revealed, only making a drive-by at her own after party hosted by supermarket
billionaire Ron Burkle.

writes "So this is it . . . the morning after. A morning of disappointment
to both Madonna and Mariah Carey fans. Madonna fans were expecting that
she would steal the show -- she didn't (the crowd was cold). Mariah fans
like myself expected a clean sweep -- we were disappointed and now hurt.
This is a wake up call to both Madonna and Mariah fans." Read more.

joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Tuesday night, "Well, according
to the New York Daily News -- I love this kind of gossip. Madonna and Mariah
Carey are fighting over which one of them gets to open the Grammy show
Wednesday night. First of all, how many think Mariah Carey should do it?
[Light cheers and applause] How many think Madonna? [Screams and applause]
How many don't care, as long as neither one of them promises to never make
another movie again? [Cheers and applause]"
February 21, 2006 - Madonna
and Mariah Carey's rivalry has hit new heights ahead of tomorrow's Grammys
after the Material Girl convinced awards bosses to give her the show opening
performance instead of Carey's choir-backed rendition of 'We Belong Together'.

The New York Daily News, even though Madonna received zero nominations

Early Show' national correspondent Hattie Kauffman met up with Mariah Carey
over the weekend at her Grammy rehearsal and asked the singer about the

be Mariah Carey, recording artist, whatever you want to label me as, but
the thing is, this is very special to me because it's a labor of love."

February 13, 2006 - divinah
writes "Jermaine Dupri, in his interview with MTV News, said he's considering
a collaboration between Mariah Carey and his girlfriend Janet Jackson,
which would mirror Whitney Houston and Mariah's 1998 hit 'When You Believe.'
Dupri said, "That's been on my mind for a couple weeks now. The hardest
part is figuring out a song that fits both of them, because you have two
different styles of artists, and the thing when you're dealing with divas
is you don't want to overshadow either one, so if you were to do a song
for them, it would have to work where both of them would feel they were
on the same pedestal, or else someone's gonna have a problem." Read more."

writes "Last year, all of the Mariah Carey fans spent so much time defending
her; now it isn't even neccesary. She is undoubtedly back at the top and
no matter what anyone says about her, she did her thing with the new album
and proved that she has longevity and is a living legend. Call her trashy,
call her fat, call her overrated if you would like too...but accept the
fact that she has sold over 5 million records of "...Mimi" and she is being
critically praised for her immensely successful comeback. Even though you
say you hate her, for some reason you keep watching her apperances, keep
looking at her pictures and keep listening to her music..it is really shocking
that you devote so much time to a woman you hate. "
February 5, 2006 - Ses writes
"I have recently come across Janet Jackson's career and biography when
I compiled her classics in the last post I submitted. I read information
about Janet's past albums and I have recently found out a stunning similarity
in both 'Rhythm Nation' & 'The Emancipation Of Mimi'. The similarities
are these: both albums produced at least 2 U.S. No.1 singles ('Rhythm Nation'
had 3 & 'The Emancipation' had 2), both albums were the best selling
albums in the U.S. for that year ('Rhythm Nation' sold 8 million &
'The Emancipation Of Mimi' sold 5 million in the U.S.), both albums were
R & B inspired, both albums got the most Grammy Nominations for their
year & most significantly both albums had 8 Grammy Nominations!" Read

February 5, 2006 - Moritz
von Uslar of Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine spoke with Mariah Carey
in a marathon 100 question interview. He boldly questioned the singer about
the infamous 'TRL' appearance days before she was hospitalized. "It is
hard for people who don't have any experience with TV appereances to understand
this," she said. "There was a problem with my ear monitors. I had this
chaos of voices in my ears but was expected to answer a question at the
same time, which is hardly possible. Everyone was terribly excited. It
was a joke. Things were exaggerated afterwards because I fainted two days
later, and I needed medical help." Then when Moritz asked about a "suicide
attempt" at the climax of her exhaustion, Carey insisted, "That is not
true. I am a far too spiritual person to even think of suicide." Read more.

writes "Much have been said abou Mariah Carey's weight gain, prostitute
sister and crimes of fashion here on Podirt lately. It's OK to talk about
these things, once in a while, but it's becoming obvious that defeated
fans of the defeated Madonna are using these stories to divert us from
the real issues which they are afraid to discuss: 1) MC have 17 #1's; 2)
MC continues to dominate the Billboard Charts (which is STILL the Bible
and THE authentic authority on music); 3) MC is nominated for 7 Grammys;
and 4) MC is The Queen of Pop and the highest selling female artist of
ALL time." Read more.

writes "Crazy. Mad. Pathetic. Call it what you will, but TeamLamb (whatever
it is or whether it does exist or not) has accomplished its goals, namely:
1) it helped Mariah Carey in her comeback bid . . . and how; 2) it helped
make "The Emancipation of Mimi" the huge success that it is; 3) it helped
MC achieve her 16th and 17th #1's; and 4) it helped destroy the career
of The Corpse (a.k.a. Madonna) -- whatever is left of it." Read more.
February 5, 2006 - ScorpionMan
writes "Recently I came across Mariah Carey fansite TeamLamb.com. This
disgusting, delusional site has the usual desperate propaganda for Mariah
Carey but a lot more very disturbing features. For instance, an "Artists
We Hate" section where they plead Mariah fans not to purchase of artists
such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Madonna and Prince in a failing
attempt to make Mariah the biggest selling artist of all time. Also the
site applauds the murder of John Lennon and names Elvis as a closet homosexual.
This site is yet another example of the pathetic cult of the "Lamb" who
are desperate to try and prove their talentless idol is among the greats
of music history."
February 5, 2006 - The Mirror
