29, 2000 - 20th Century Fox will partner with Columbia Pictures to finance
the Mariah Carey starrer "All That Glitters," which Fox will distribute
domestically, and Columbia will handle internationally, reports The Hollywood
Reporter.
July 29, 2000 - An autographed
picture of Mariah is bidding on eBay. The 8x10 photo (item #392249316)
is unbid at $25 and ends July 30th.
July 20, 2000 - Brett Ratner
and Rebecca Gayheart's relationship may have been ended by Mariah Carey,
reports E! Online's Ted Casablanca, who sarcastically added, "Mariah, dear,
don't you have enough men? Who do you think you are anyway--Madonna?"
July 15, 2000 - Despite their
longstanding feud, Madonna is quoted in Icon magazine this month as saying
Mariah was her role model, though most have interpreted this comment as
being sarcastic.
July 14, 2000 - Worldpop
joking about Mariah's upcoming movie "that Mariah Carey's All That Glitters
movie is 'roughly based' on Mariah's own life. Might not include the leading
lady allegedly having her career funded via her sister's prostitution,
then bonking her boss, then."
July 12, 2000 - Reports are
out
from pagesix.com that ex Arista head Clive Davis is negotiating with Mariah
for a new record deal, as reports of her unhappyness with ex husband Tommy
Mottola and his axeing of her vanity label Crave as well as her complaints
over lack of PR for her last album have soure her with Sony, as we've reported
before.
July 11, 2000 - Jessica Simpson
is on the wires making eyebrow raising comments against Mariah Carey, whom
she says she's disappointed of her labeling Simpson as "Minnie Me", saying
"It looks as if she's definitely trying to be younger or prove something.
It's sad, but if this is everything she ever dreamt about doing, then go
for it."
July 10, 2000 - Mariah is
featured in this weeks Enquirer for saving a wounded Seagull while working
on the island of Capri. Carey told the Enquirer "I love all kinds of animals
and picked up the bird. He was dazed and let me cradle him in my arms."
July 10, 2000 - Worldpop
reports that Mariah's friend Da Brat is going to play her best buddy, Louise,
in a movie based roughly on her life story entitled All That Glitters.
Filming begins on July 24 in Toronto.
July 8, 2000 - An autographed
picture of Mariah is bidding on eBay. The 8x10 candid photo (item #377209175)
is bid at $45 and ends July 10th.
July 1, 2000 - Mariah Carey
and boy band Westlife have teamed to re-record the Phil Collins song Against
All Odds at Carey's studio in Capri. Mark Feehilly of Westlife told Rolling
Stone "I always wondered that about Mariah Carey, and I was so happy to
find out that she actually sat there at the desk, pushing up and down the
buttons. She actually does produce her own songs and she writes her own
songs, too. So, as a big fan, it made me respect her even more." Westlife's
duet with Carey is set to be released as a single in Europe in August.
July 1, 2000 - An autographed
