Well, surely no one couldve predicted the Hopman Cup (Perth) to be one like this. After all organisers have gathered the strongest field to date, for the tournament. With Clijsters (2), Muresmo (4), Davenport (5), Myskina (7), Alicia Molik (35), out of form Haunticova and newcomer Barbora Strycova all in the womens side of things. While, Hewitt, Novak, Blake, Safin, and Malise the major mens players. Teamed up as mixed doubles for the third match of the day will be one hell of a show down, considering Cljisters is in Hewits draw.

Kim Clijsters has withdrawn from the Hopman Cup injured in her match played against Australia's Alicia Molik. Clijsters retired with an injured foot leading 3-2 in the deciding set. Alicia Molik was playing the game of her life, taking one set off Kim for the first time. Lleyton won his match and there was a walk over in the mixed doubles due to Clijsters inury it is not yet known if she will be playing in next weeks Addidas International and the Aussie Open. The world wide tennis eyes were on the Hopman Cup to see Hewitt & Molik VS Malise & Clijsters in a slug fest battle of the love birds, but unfortunately Kim withdrew.

And recent new Australia's Alicia Molik has retired from her match against Daniela Haunticove winning 6-3 3-0 in second set, giving Haunticova the victory. Though Australia still goes into the Finals on Saturday more than likely against USA. Russia has to beat USA 3-0 to get into the finals, though ask seeing as though Davenport is playing brilliantly and Blake in form too.

It is not yet known wether Alicia Molik will be able to play in the finals on Saturday I will keep you up to date on future results.

IN OTHER NEWS:
Dokic has withdrawn from the Addidas International due to lack of form, it is not yet said that she will miss the Australian Open for the 3rd year in a row, since giving up Aussie Citizenship - I is more than likely she will as the media says.

Oh also- just a little bit of history-

In the past 3 years USA has been to the finals in all years - winning in 2003 and runners up 2002 and 2001.

Australia as the host has only won 1 Hopman Cup, in 1999.

For the past couple of years Australia has been plagued with bad luck at the Hopman Cup, with Hewitt getting chicken pox and dropping out.

It was just reported on Channel 10 (Australia) Sports Tonight - Alicia Molik has retired from the Hopman Cup with an ankle injury.

Thats another year of Bad luck Australia has had in the Hopman Cup. It hasnt been posted up on the hopman cups official website but - it does say Alicia has been hurt and retired from the match against Daniela Haunticova.

Alicia is in doubt for the Australian Open after her injury.

While im Clijsters has told the officals at the Addidas Internation she WILL be there. Clijsters will report late next week on wether shes going to the Aussie Open.

Karol Kucera defeated James Blake to keep the tie and the cup open for the Slovak Republic, but Lindsay - James defeated Daniela and Karol which is good on the American side, they are the first team to win it 2 years in a row back-to-back <_<
