Jessica and the Inauguration

President-elect George W. Bush drew more cheers than the platinum-selling pop singers with whom he shared the stage Friday during a pre-inauguration youth concert. Pop acts Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson, Lee Ann Womack and 98 Degrees performed and Bush briefly addressed the thousands who attended the two-and-a-half-hour event at the MCI Center in Washington. A number of Bush Cabinet nominees spoke at the event in between the performances.

Pop singing sensation Jessica Simpson, a Texas native, modified the lyrics of her song, I Think I'm In Love With You, making it, George, I think I'm in love with you.

Bush watched several of the performers from a sky box, where he was spotted by the enthusiastic crowd. As the rock band Nine Days played onstage, much of the audience turned to get a glimpse of Bush sipping a beverage and chatting with inauguration organizers.

The crowd included grade-school children accompanied by their parents, inner-city high-school students and College Republicans. Although the show's organizers said concert had sold out, the arena was little more than half full.

Jessica only has ONE more song left for the album!

BSB asked for the priviledge of introducing Jess at the AMA's.

On the 18th, Jessica will debut a new Andrew Lloyd Webber song for the president. She was handpicked by the great broadway composer to sing his new stuff. It will be at the Lincoln Memorial.

The above is in addition to her performance on the 19th.
