About Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular
NBC and Macy’s join to celebrate the country’s 225th birthday with the 'Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular'. Grammy Award-winning artist Harry Connick, Jr. ('Independence Day') will host this hour-long special which features amazing pyrotechnics live from New York City as well as musical performances and guest celebrities. The fireworks display theme is 'Voices of Liberty' and the special marks the second time that New York’s largest fireworks event will be broadcast on the PeaCO**
Beginning at 9 p.m. ET, more than 20,000 pyrotechnic shells and effects will set the New York City skyline ablaze from the Hudson River. The grandstand location will feature a 'mega-show' using four barges. The fireworks display will be set to a musical score from such popular artists as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi, John Tesh, Shania Twain and Madonna. The climactic fireworks display will be commercial-free for 28 minutes.

Host Harry Connick, Jr. will be surrounded by thousands of spectators and will introduce each performance and comment on the night’s festivities. The telecast will include performances by Bon Jovi and Jessica Simpson as well as the cast of the musical '42nd Street' -- a Tony Award winner for Best Revival of a Musical. Additionally, an all-star ensemble of celebrity narrators will reflect upon the 2001 theme 'Voices of Liberty.' Narrators will include Martin Sheen (NBC’s 'The West Wing'), Kelsey Grammer (NBC’s 'Frasier'), Gary Sinise (Broadway’s 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest'), and Angela Bassett ('How Stella Got Her Groove Back').
