Shakira concerned for fans after cement attack

Visiting Colombian pop star Shakira refused to leave a Sydney shopping centre until she met fans affected by cement dust thrown at her during a promotional appearance. The dust did not reach the 25-year-old Latino pop sensation, who was whisked off stage amid security concerns after last night's incident.
Some of the 2,500 fans who had crowded into the centre suffered breathing difficulties because of the dust, including one teenage girl who was treated for an asthma attack. More than 20 people were covered with cement dust when a bag which was hurled towards the stage split.
Her record company, Sony Music Australia, said Shakira refused to leave the shopping centre until she had met with several fans that required treatment after the incident. Police arrested a man witnesses claim threw a bag of cement powder from a construction area on the third level of the centre.
