Natalie Maines is the proud parent of a Dixie Chicklet.
The Dixie Chicks lead singer and her actor-hubby, Adrian Pasdar, welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Jackson Slade Pasdar, Thursday morning in Austin, Texas, the group's publicist says. Little Jack weighed an even 6 pounds and stretched 20 inches long.
'He has sandy blond hair and Natalie's nose,' says fellow Chick Emily Robison. 'She made us very jealous. It was a very easy and fast delivery.'
Robison hatched the news Thursday night before a national TV audience when she called in to chat with Loretta Lynn, who was appearing as a guest on Ar-old Maines and the first baby for any of the Chicks.
Maines tied the knot with Pasdar, 35, last June in Las Vegas. (Maines' first marriage, to Michael Tarabay, ended in divorce in January 1999 after just 19 months). Pasdar, who currently stars in Mysterious Ways, a supernatural drama shown on the family-friendly PAX network, made his big-screen debut as Chipper in Top Gun and followed up with parts in Carlito's Way, Mutiny and Perfect Getaway.
After swapping vows on the Strip, the newlyweds had said they were looking forward to having 10 kids. They're apparently well on their way.
That is, of course, if the Chicks (Maines, Robison and Martie Seidel) remain off the road for awhile. The group, whose hits include 'Ready to Run,' 'Wide Open Spaces' and the controversial 'Goodbye Earl,' announced late last year that they were taking time off from touring to focus on their families.
All told, the Grammy-winning Texas trio has sold more than 18 million copies of their two albums, Wide Open Spaces and Fly.
