A melancholic storyteller that looks for a light of hope on life from the ones surrounding him through his voice. This is how the Puerto Rican star Ricky Martin presents himself in his comeback to Spanish-language music, in the video for the first single in promotion "Tal vez".
The video, recorded recently in La Boca district in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to which ESCENARIO had exclusive access, presents three parallel stories linked by a spectator: Ricky Martin. A marriage in crisis, the suffering of a son near to the bed of his dying father and a single mother as a victim of the inmaturity of her couple.
But, being at first a pesimist film, it turns out to find a hope integrating a little girl, that surrounds each couple, symbolizing the optimism.
The music video, the first one that the singer makes under the direction of a Puerto Rican, Juan "Kacho" López, will premiere tonight at Telemundo at 6:55, 9:55 and 11:30 p.m., meanwhile the worldwide premiere will be via Telemundo Network in the US at 7:30 p.m.
López portrays with an incredible illumination and a bunch of images, always focused on the figure of the Puerto Rican star, a universal love story. The video was co-directed by Carlos Pérez and produced by Paradiso Films. It also had the participation of Brigitte Broch, Academy winner for "Moulin Rouge", as Production Designer and Andrejh Sekula as Photography director, who also has an Academy award for "Pulp Fiction". It is estimated that this video was produced near to the $500,000.
Apart from the video "Tal vez", ESCENARIO had the chance to look at the EPK (Electronic Press Kit), where it shows a natural, simple and spountaneous Ricky Martin, who opens his heart to comment about the origins of his new CD, "Almas del silencio".
The EPK, mostly filmed at the residence of the singer in Miami, presents the Puerto Rican star getting up in his morning clothes, washing his mouth, running on his jet ski and later working in the studio recording, where were conceived various tracks for the new album.
"I was empty, I didn't had a balance, almost no sentiments", the singer assured in his EPK, produced by Dago Gonzalez.
Beside the confessions of the singer and an introduction of each of the tracks from his new album, the principal songwriters such as Tommy Torres, Juanes, Franco De Vita, author of "Tal vez" -which shows the life of an artist according to De Vita-, Alejandro Sanz and Ricardo Arjona talked about their experiences with beloved Puerto Rican.
Precisely, the song of Arjona, "Asignatura pendiente" is considered by Martin to have the most impact in this production, because it talks about his love for his country and the fame and trips far away from his native lands, and his people.
