Collin Farrel is an actor, who is intelligent, and has potential. He's not a big deal yaet, but he's gonna be. He was in the movies "Tigerland", "Hart's War" and "Minority Report" and he's gonna be in the movies "The Recruit" and "Daredevil" next year. He's dating Michelle Rodrigues ("The Fast and the Furious") and I personally think he's OK

Is this enough?

Well if still anyone wonders - at least watch Minority Report, that's the last he was in and he did the job there very well. Great work with Spielberg.

And I wonder how in his movies there is no sign of his Irish accent. How did he get rid of it? Do you happen to know?

I'm not familiar with the Daredevil comics, but this costume and mask that he has on look pretty strange. I'll have to research about this character!

So he has learned the American accent? Brave boy.

Jeez! the Irish accent is one funny thing to hear, my friend Richard is from Belfast and I love to listen to his rants when he's drunk, it's like guessing game!

.........I'm going to Ireland in February!!!! :yay:

Don't mean to offence anyone, but I too heard Minority report wasn't that good, I'm no fan of Spielberg nor Cruise so I surely won't see it ever. Thanks for telling us about him Claire! :)

Oh, Irish accent... this is totally hard to get, but they have a really sweet accent. I have met an Irish guy and he talked a little in native language and it was soooo great... just like in the movies about Irish. And he looked very different from the British guys.

That's why I was surprised to learn that Colin was Irish, he has no trace of the accent. Hm, he probably keeps it for special occasions... or special girls, like his girlfriend...

And Laura - there is nothing wrong with not liking Spielberg, I mean just because they say he is a great director, you're not supposed to watch his work. I personally think he is a pretty strange dreamer and creates a world that is not that easy to understand if you don't share his visions. His movies are probably just for the people who like this style of his.

But, I'm o/t - a big Cheer - up to all the girls who watch closely the growing new talent Colin Farrel!

Yep, he was! Especially when he is versus Tom Cruise (aka John Anderton) . I pretty much liked that he played a possitive character, and really determined, nice character.

Well, we could swear earlier, but after the new layout came there is some new programme, that I still haven't found a way to outsmart.

God, I love your style! Now I really wanna know what movies or directors you do like! Or at least what are you doing? Why don't you visit us anymore down at the other sections? I would love you to come back.

I agree 'bout Daredavil. It will probably please just the comic book lovers. Both B. Affleck and J. Garner do not appeal to me (at least in these parts!). Farrel's character is the bad guy!

And I've watched the cowboy movie!

Tell me please, if you can when The Recruit is out, how it is!

Well, that's wise, I think. Why don't? Just tell me if you'd like me to post some new topic! :)

And... OMG, I knew it, I totally knew it that you understand movies! It's ...The Godfather - the movie with those lines! I usually don't comment on it, in order not to spoil everything I love about it... I knew it! You're one of us!

I agree about Al Pacino. I mean that he and Colin may act great together. Sometimes characters complement each other. And I know the actors you mentioned. Steve Zahn has interesting funny face. Johnny... after Gilbert Grape or later?

What can I tell you...hm, OK *admits she has watched "Saving Private Ryan" again this Sunday*. I fear that war movies can depress me sometimes (after Born on the 4th of July) but they're really great. Especially when done by directors that understand what they are doing! And as you mentioned "Black Hawk.." - I love Ridley Scott, so I think he was really robbed at this year's Oscars. I was angry as hell when ron Howard won (cause I associate him mainly with Ed TV), and this - again after the Gladiator snub the previous year! But we both agreed that the Academy has strange taste sometimes.

Hm, you didn't mention the actresses intentionally or...?

So great that you agreed to talk in here. Tell me if it's getting boring on the board, I could post sth new, where we can talk. Oh, has somebody insulted you with something? Hm , happens to me, I'm so sensitive about some stuff. Don't bother telling me if it was me this time!

Love :)

Well, that's an extensive answer! thanks, thanks, thanks! I have to post you a really long response later! So that you can read a lot!

I agree about the boys. Esp when it's packed with newbies that constantly disturb you with topics that you wonder where they came up with! That was for here. And at all - I hate somebody else underestimating what I think is really great. They make it look profane. I guess that's why nobody answers my topics! I'm too philosophical sometimes.

And I wouldn't see Elijah singing, too! Though hobbits sing, but he definitely doesn't match that image!

I'll call you back a little later, agree?

Hey,

I'm back as I said. I actually used to stop by here. It's actually a great place.
I go and try to update the Elijah and Orlando boards, I mean posting, posts topics. And I think they both deserve a board, whose idea was this? Bless them. If you want me to start a new topic on sth specific, just tell.

Oh, and it's great that I didn't offend you! *clear conscience* I agree on that what you said about people trying to make lame comments just to comment. I think that was the point? I always try to comment on sth that I have some knowledge on, at least some knowledge, not just to keep the talk going.

Oh, so when you mentioned the Spielberg/Hanks war movie connections you meant "Band of Brothers"! Cause I thought of Private Ryan. I also think "Band of Brothers" was a bad idea. But Spelberg just has this thing for tribute to World War Two. He even has a foundation about this. Hm, I wish he returned to his roots and made a real psychological/phantasy thriller. Ah, and btw Hanks hasn't won recently  he last won for Forrest Gump, and has just two, incomparable to the Jack Nicholson record with 13 nods and three trophys. God, and he may even be nominated again this year! This man is scary.

I know the guy Steve Bushemi! He has a movie out now, so that's why he was on the show probably, yes? You're so right about the Johnny/Leo thing, they had chemistry, not exactly as brothers but as actors. Like it was in "Doni Brasko", the old gangster, and the young! Ooh, I think the comparison just sucked, but anyway, you got the two different points!

Acting/singing - thank you for mentioning JLo! Oh, God, I'm not the only one who thinks her new album sucks. As the previous two actually. And don't even mention movies. I mean she is obvious a great woman and personality and blah, blah, but please! - no more movies! She is obviously gonna do it though, and in a Kevin Smith movie *save me* he is one of my favourite guys (Jay and Silent Bob... - OMG!)
Whatever, hope I wasn't too harsh on her..ooch!

Btw, how is the singing part in Chicago? if you've watched. And if you have gone to Catch me if You Can, you should review for me! The gals in the LDC forum are just crazy to know how it was, and me too (kham, kham, Spielberg movie... but not the typical one!)

And you should come down and answer some of the topics, I mean I will answer everywhere where you do it, so we can make a little talk. I'm dying to do a private talk, just ignoring the others... no kidding, I'm not that selfish... everyone is invited.

See ya! You can ask me stuff, too if I haven't told you. :)

Hi, there

I also jope JLo won't kill the movie. I mean she has starred in movies with not that bad scripts, but who the hell casted her in the main part? I mean actors usually prove themselves in smaller parts and then get the big bucks but she is so over-popular that maybe she doesn't need to do it?

Wow, you really seem to like the war theme in movies. I'm more into the dramamedy thing, sort of American Beauty. Or psychothrillers. I really want to see deep emotional stuff, in order to get heartbroken probably. I mean I can't stand this so called "funny" movies sometimes. I more prefer darker movies. And wise. I guess what you like in the war movies is the drama? The main characters are usually heroes...

I agree Jack Nicholson is still one of those who work well, and at that age. Very well, you are right about Few Good Men, but this is with Tom Cruise, and I thought you don't like him? Jack was last in As Good as It Gets, right? Very good movie.

Oh, go to Catch Me... I'm waiting for someone to tell me some word about it.

I forgot, before, but usually when they mention Al Pacino to me, and I remember the movie "Heat", do you like it? Just wanted to ask.

And after I saw TTT I'll be usually probably on the Elijah board, I see him everywhere. Especially the eyes... Though I'll be gone this week, I have an exam next Saturday (keep fingers croosed if you remember!)

Love - moi :)

back to his accent, he talks with his accent. the only time he speaks with an American accent is when a role requires it. he had a western-type cowboy accent in one of his earlier movies...never seen it though.

i thought Minority Report was a really good movie. i CANNOT STAND Speilberg, or Tom Cruise for that matter; i just wanted to see the movie for Colin. but overall it's really good.

I only saw Minority Report for Colin also. LOL. Then when he was gone, I was like bored now. I simply can not stand Tom Cruise. He is the essence of annoying.

The American movie was called American Outlaws. Excellet and shirtless Colin

MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE FILM EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED it, man!!!! never saw a film which kept me going on till the very end!!!! I love both actors, and both characters and I was wondering who the director would choose to kill!!!! People if you have not watched it go for it RIGHT NOW!!!!

I hate war movies because I'm quite sensitive on war issues and hate violence, but paradoxically I love mafia films, that's why I worship DeNiro, Pacino, and Scorcese!!!!!!

Great choice girl!! ;)

hola,

Hey, you mean Michael Caine, he is in the Quiet American. He is English actor, but with two Academy awards already. And I'm sure it's worthy, I mean they already nominated him for a Golden Globe award. Oh, and if you have chance watch these. I mean interesting people are scheduled to appear. I cannot watch, they do not broadcast the Globes in Europe. Hell. I love ceremonies. Though awards being given away is senseless. I mean everybody worked during the year, and everyone who worked well and loved their movie deserves to be awarded. To choose one is a crime. Only those who wanted to make profit of their movie do no deserve anything. Sorry, but art comes first for me, not popularity!

God, you are so right about Kevin Spacey, he is one of my favourites. Especially in The Usual Suspects and Seven; well and all of his other movies. I actually didn't know when this one comes out, so thanks!

I must also admit I was interested by that courtroom scene. I mean the whole situation. And I also like when Tom Cruise makes that expression he had on his face, intended to be dramatic, but looks a little fake, it's kind of funny cause he always makes it in serious movies. Except The Firm - great movie. Made me think that everything is corrupted. And I was ten then. I mean when it came out and I went to see it. Kinda crashed my illusions.

Ah, please once again if anyone has the chance to catch that Globes, to do it and tell me how it was then. Cause I can read who won and this doesn't interest me that much, cause I want to know how the ceremony was, and who presented and stuff like that.

Very much thanks. I better go back to my studies now or I'll never score the points I need! :)

Hey,

I don't know if I am recognized as a movie reviewer too, but thanks anyway! :)

I think about the award shows - one basic thing I watch the Oscars for is the fact that they give away Creative awards. I mean, no other does this, and these are very important things that make the movie complete. For me, the Oscar for Best Editing for example is much more important that Leading Actor or Actress. I think those awards for actors/actresses are sheduled at the end, so that it's really emotional, they cry, etc., etc. and make a good show, therefore keep the audience there. Cinematography, script matter much more than the actors, or even make up, effects - these are important. That's why I pay much attention to the academy awards. But they are basically set up as all other shows. Globes too are a set up, I strongly believe in the conspiracy theory! Thanks that you're gonna tell me about the show! :)

Yes, I appreciate the mafia movies, too. After the Godfather... they made movie history based on these. It's always much explored theme. Involved with the topic about honour and values in a strange way, at least what I think is that...

I feel kind of obliged to reply... well, about AI - that this was a movie of Stanley Kubrick and Spielberg finished it after he died, in his honour. And that explaines some of the weak points that the movie has - it was co-creation. But the overall idea was good. Yes, Spielberg has mad but great ideas sometimes. I am a follower, so I will defend him, though many people do not support him.

And I wanna ask: Well, I don't visit the JT board but I'm a teenager. is this considered a disadvantage for you? :(

God, we should stop using Colin's section for these talks, but it's just so great that there is someone finally who understands movies on some level. I mean I have to spend much of my time with other fellow teenagers, who worship The Matrix, and consider Titanic classic (I mean that we're young with this, not that the movies are not great! :) )

That was it - for me
See you! :)

You are right AGAIN, well I think exactly through the violence in this movies (about the mafia) the human nature is revealed. I mean it's a way of self-expression. It's a really good way I think. It's like the sexual content in erotic thrillers - way to express your inner world (god I love that kind of thrillers, actually my favourites!)

And you should watch The Matrix, but this is just an advice. Not only because parts 2 and 3 are coming out this year, but also because even though it has a conroversial topic (where is the real world actually?) it is a real revolution not only in cinematography but also - effects and sound. I even think their three Oscars are in these categories. And if you like that kind of stuff, I mean sci-fi, it's really good. And also the main two feuds - Neo (K.Reeves) and Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) - oh, they're really good with the action part, I loved their scenes!
Oh, I'm getting into another direction, again, but I just though this one is important to note, because it is really something, though not really my favourite type of movie.

Ok, that's for me for now, I gotta go and prepare. Hope these Globes tomorrow really give these mini-globes to someone interesting. Not that I care who wins, I just want an interesting acceptance speech. Something like Peter Jackson... mm that would work. Or give it to Adam Sandler - he would make a good show  I really want to catch these, such a pity they are broadcast only in USA...hm, you have all the greatest shows!

the mafia/mobster/gangster movies show emotion, loyalty, family, etc...way better than a lot of dramas do...they just have a level of violence that others don't. i'm not to partial to violence; it's just not my thing, but almost every other level of a mafia movie are just the height of what films are...if you understood that, you're very talented ;)

I don't like violence in movies, but mafia films are not about killing full stop. It's more of a social reflection, it's teh philosophy and teh social code of italian immigrants......I mean, to stop bullsh**ting, that's a special type of film which should not be categorised as a violent movie.....it's different for me> Anyway, it's 5.03am, in 3 hours I'll celebrate my 24th hour with no sleep.....so just ignore me

Oh, and I totally agree with Claire, teh Matrix is worth it for sure!!! I hate sci-fi but that one is really different......Spielberg better learn from that kind of thing and give us a break with his war sh**. My opinion :)

I am sure you have then read the GodFather? I loved how the one movie ended, can't remember which one. As Michael swore his devoation to Christ at his sons's bapatism, he had his enemies and brother killed.

I find the idea of dating a man in the mafia sexy. Clear meaning here being the idea. Now if only Colin would play a mafia man my life would be complete.

Violence in movies has never bothered me. In fact, I enjoy the violent action flicks more than the silly romance ones
