‘Dumb & Dumberer’ All Its Own

Those on the big screen scene expecting for “Dumb & Dumbererâ€￾ to just be a repeat of it’s 1994 predecessor “Dumb & Dumberâ€￾ are in for quite a surprise, according to the film’s star Derek Richardson, who steps into the role of Harry Dunne, originally played by Jeff Daniels. Eric Christian Olsen plays his buddy Lloyd Christmas.
Declares the 26-year-old Richardson who hails from upstate New York, “It’s not like we tried to create replicas of the characters that Jim (Carrey) and Jeff (Daniels) did. We just concentrated on the relationship between the two and relied on the great script we had. This movie is a precursor to who these characters were in the first film, so we did hold onto a few mannerisms but that’s about it. As a matter of fact the only person that’s back from the first movie is Lin Shaye who plays Mrs. Neugeboren.â€￾

So did Richardson and Christian get any tips from the stars of the original film? Says Richardson, “Nope. We didn’t meet with them or even try to contact them. I think this film stands on its own.â€￾ So since funny bone filmmaker brothers Bobby and Peter Farrelly of “There’s Something About Maryâ€￾ and “Shallow Hal,â€￾ fame didn’t lend their writing/directing talents to the June 13-debuting comedy, we wonder if the box office will be biggerer or littler than the 1994 hit? Guess only time will tell.

hehe, this movie kind of looks stupid, but oh well. I was reading in the newspaper in the entertainment section, and it got all bombs, which means the ratings on it are very bad!

Dumb and Dumber is one of my all time favorite movies, but I refuse to see Dumb and Dumberer. It looks so stupid. If Jeff Daniels and Jim Carey were playing Harry and Lloyd, I might've given it a shot, but since they aren't, I think I'll just stick to watching Dumb and Dumber over and over again. It never gets old!
