President Bush plans to endorse a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as the union of a man and a woman in response to a Massachusetts court decision requiring legal recognition of gay marriages in that state, key advisers said yesterday.

Bush plans to endorse language introduced by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.) that backers contend would ban gay marriage but not prevent state legislatures from allowing the kind of civil unions and same-sex partnership arrangements that exist in Vermont and California.

i don't think they should ban gay marriages who cares if the bible doesn't allow it...it's there life and can do whatever they want. i mean if Bush's daughter was gay and she was in love with another girl what would he do? He doesn't understand that when your gay your life feels like sh** it's a free country let them do what they want and if they wanna get married they should because that will keep them happy instead of not getting married and being sad all the time.

discrimination in this country isn't exactly a new concept tho... and gays aren't the only ones suffering with it. i think they should have a right to marry too, but hey... there are plenty of other areas where discrimination needs to be addressed and bush isn't the only one who opposes controversial issues involving descriminatory behavior.

WASHINGTON (CNN) --A day after President Bush announced support for a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage, opponents were saying the move will cost him dearly with voters, while supporters said the decision helped fire up his socially conservative base.

"I think it will actually encourage his base to know for sure that our president stands for the definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman," Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Colorodo, told CNN's "American Morning."

Yes. Cheney's daughter is gay. And when he was running for president he used it to his advantage with the gay community. And she helped him milk it for all it was worth. Now I have read that the gay community wants to know where she is now and why she isn't speaking out about this. But instead she is standing behind her father who is backing George Bush. Typical Republicans!!!!!!!!!!
