SYDNEY, Australia - Protesters took to the streets worldwide on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the Iraq (news - web sites) war, saying the U.S.-led occupation had incited more terrorism and demanding the withdrawal of troops from the Mideast nation.

Australia kicked off a wave of worldwide rallies. Protests were also held in Japan — where 30,000 people turned out — South Korea (news - web sites), New Zealand, Thailand and Hong Kong. Demonstrators in the Philippines clashed with riot police, but no injuries were reported.

In London, meanwhile, two Greenpeace activists wearing helmets and harnesses scaled the Big Ben clock tower at Parliament and unfurled a banner that read "Time for Truth." Greenpeace said they were protesting the war.

uch ill be a happy woman the day Bush leaves office

and i think the whole world will be much happier

i dont think i could take it everything hes done to the world :(

and the mark has now hit over 10 000 iraqis have died since the war

i'm not for the war because like you said innocent iraqis are being killed but at the same time it's a good thing that they have captured saddam because he's actully killing innocent ppl too and god nows what he might do in the furture. I know that they want peace and no war but the truth is that somewhere there would be war going on.

they shouldve gotten saddam in 91

theyre as much to blame in my opinion for 500 000 iraqis dying cuz of sanctions
as saddam

they knew about all this sh** back then

which brings me back to the point politics is all corrupt

dont get me wrong saddam shouldve been captured
there are just other ways to do it than war

Bush has screwed alot of countries over and bullied countries into doing stuff
i dont blame them for being mad

its just you dont hear of that stuff here it seems
or they dont care

just my opinion

totally respect your opinion...but i think back then in '91 didn't congress say 'no'?

i was 2 yrs old in '91 so i don't know.

yeah and Bush just wanted to pull out

i dunno what happened there.... the whole saddam-US story is screwed up

lol i was still young too about 5 i think

i read all about it last year when the war started, just cant remember all the details so i cant say much about it anymore

i just have a belief that war can never be justified. theres longer ways that take more time maybe, but not as many people die then

maybe its just cuz i grew up like that, my grandpa still talks about the war everytime i go there
and he got chases by the nazis and his house destroyed
guess that has an impact for me
citizens dont choose for war yet theyre the ones that die in significant figures

dont get me wrong i feel bad as hell for soldiers, but htey know theyre getting into this

I really wasn't for the war, has it made the world a safer place? no
so many innocent people have been killed :(
I just really cant understand why they haven't done nething for the people of Zimbabwe and the congo.
Everyday people are dying there because of leaders like Mugabe being able to run wild  They need to go and help those countries because its disgusting how they are just being ignored.

i know megzra

but I think they arent doin it cuz its unsafe for peacekeepers to go there

kinda like the haiti situation at first they only came in after

but i get you one of my best friends her moms from ruanda (sp?)
her whole family has been murdered :(

wow her WHOLE family :( that's sad and it disgusts me that ppl would actully do that. I hope she's doing better.

Well if the peace makers don't go there then what about the persident Zimbabwe or the Governer do something about it. Send a military. i know that they might not have a strong military but why don't other countries help them didn't stop Bush from going into other countries than why isn't he helping them?

because going into a country and bombing it is really easy to do
while going into a country and establishing that country
and trying to get people to get along is a whole different game

Bush just bombed iraq, he had no clue (still has no clue in my opinion) how to rebuild that country

which is proven bc how many iraqis actually feel safe in that country now?

oh and princess peacekeepers are the UN military
theyre over in afghanistan right now

africa is just complicated as hell
groups dont listen to their president so he cant do anything
whoever comes up w a solution there i applaud em
cuz i wouldnt know

the only thing that theyre doin right now is setting up refuge in countries
but its limited
and i know a lot of people come in europe from africa

its sad cuz all these people give all their money to go on a ship or in a truck and they get stopped at borders or have suffocated in containers which has happened many times :(

oh yeah shes in Belgium right now her mom has been for over 20 yrs i think
and my best friend her moms from congo
also sought refuge

which brings me back to my conclusion
the world is f***ed up princess i agree :(

its just very hard to do sumthing when groups are rebelling
and to force em is against the whole idea of democracy so you cant do that either

Thats terrible about your friends family! :(
I think that in zimbabwe, mugabes regime hasn't been able to be stopped because of neighbouring countries not holding the same view as england etc
I mean South Africa could allow troops to enter through the north but because Thabo Mbeki (south africas f***ed up president) is a friend of Mugabes he wont allow anything to happen. Alot of the people in Mugabes government have fled to South Africa to live the high life, but what about their 'people'? They just dont care.
I cant believe that South Africa could allow this though, its one of the most amazing countries and they just have the worst government who in my opinion are just as bad as the apartheid government.

Sometimes i just wish all the problems in this world would go away, its so frustrating trying to figure out what can be done to help then you come to a dead end because some places are just out of control.

so they don't do anything because Thabo Mbeki is friends w/ Mugabes...that is bull

if i was him i would sacrifice my friendship to save thousands of ppl.

so they don't do anything because Thabo Mbeki is friends w/ Mugabes...that is bull

no cuz its all corrupt

lol im negative

but look at frickin Bush and Sharon

its a common fact that sharon massacred hundreds of palestinians in the 80s , yet the Bush gov keeps supporting sharon and his damn wall and whatever else he wants , that hurts thousands of palestinians cuz it blocks agriculture

you can find hundreds of these friendships
that are the cause of suffering of thousands of people

sorry im ventin
