"Bewitched", a Sony Pictures feature inspired by the classic 1960s T.V. series, is now casting many roles for production this summer.
This major film will star Nicole Kidman as Samantha Stephens, a witch from another world who comes to earth to live amongst the mortals. In this creative adaptation of the long-running ABC show, the Samantha character decides to become an actress and lands a starring role playing a witch on a T.V. sitcom very similar to the show "Bewitched".
The feature will also star Will Ferrell as Darrin, Michael Caine as Maurice, and Shirley MacLaine as Endora.
"Bewitched" will be directed by Nora Ephron, who also directed "You've Got Mail" and who wrote the classic comedy "When Harry Met Sally". "Bewitched" is being produced by Red Wagon Productions in association with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The film has a variety of principal and supporting roles open. Production is scheduled to begin in Summer 2004.
"Sheila Wyatt", Caucasian, 20s - 30s. A glamorous but manipulative woman who is the ex-wife of a T.V. star named Jack Wyatt. She has appeared in "In Style" magazine, and mostly dates famous men. When she hears that Jack is starring in a big new show, she decides she wants him back. But Jack sees right through her plan. PRINCIPAL ROLE
"Nina", Caucasian, African-American, Asian or Latina, 20s. An intelligent, down-to-earth female journalist who is writing a "behind the scenes" article about the new T.V. show which is similar to "Bewitched". Nina likes to gossip with her friend Isabel about the actors on the set. She's always looking for controversy. She is pretty and smart but not glamorous or conceited. PRINCIPAL ROLE
"Hall Smith", Caucasian or African-American, 20s. A young handsome California guy who wears a tank top and and has a tribal tattoo on his shoulder. Hall is hip in a "surfer dude" sort of way, and he comes across like an aspiring MTV VJ. He is dating Jack Wyatt's ex-wife Sheila. Hall starts to pick a fight with the jealous Jack.
"Larry", Caucasian, 30s - 40s. The main T.V. producer of the new show which Samantha stars in. He's a slick Hollywood type but he's also fair to his crew and staff. He is always having to bend over backwards to accommodate the star Jack Wyatt's demands on the set. Larry also tries flirting with Nina at one point. PRINCIPAL ROLE
"Richie", Caucasian, 30s - 40s. A smooth-talking, tacky Hollywood agent who constantly makes ridiculous demands to the producers for Jack. PRINCIPAL ROLE
"Stu", Caucasian, Late 20s - 30s. The head writer on the new Bewitched-style show. He's smart but geeky and tends to put his foot in his mouth quite a bit.
