Backstreet Boys performed Tuesday night to a crowd of 13,000 screaming
fans and the Calgary Sun's Mike Bell got an earful. In his review, Bell

26, 2001 - The Sun reports Backstreet Boy AJ McLean is preferring rehab
to life outside of drug rehab saying, "In there it's quiet and peaceful.
Then you come back out to violence, destruction and stupidity."
September 23, 2001 - AJ McLean
of the Backstreet Boys talked to Chad of XL 106.7 FM in Orlando and opened
up about what exactly happened that got him to go into rehab and revealed
that he did dabble in drug use and forceful words by Kevin Richardson calling

has its August list of the most popular Backstreet Boys and spelling variations
of the guys. Despite some thinking AJ's rehab may have made him most popular
he's still far behind Nick Carter in searches as 'Nick Carter' was searched
30,317 times compared to 12,490 for 'AJ McLean'. Far behind were Brian
Littrell at 4,682, Kevin Richardson at 3,201, and Howie Dorough at 1,808.

Backstreet Boys are amongst the artists scheduled to perform at the Radio
Music Awards, which will be broadcast from Las Vegas Oct. 26 on ABC.

pop community is well represented in the What's Going On remake that benefits
AIDS research and relief to victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Jackson is planning to get top artists together to record a new song that
will raise $50 million for the survivors of the terrorist attacks in the
United States last Tuesday. Destiny's Child and the Backstreet Boys’ Nick

Backstreet Boys were interviewed by Muchmusic last week ahead of their
concert dates in Toronto. In the short clip, Nick Carter claims he'd rather
be in Canada right now because they are neutral and Kevin Richardson says
of the United States, "We are a little bit of an arrogant nation" and asked

September 14, 2001 - The
Backstreet Boys were one of the few acts to continue their concert schedule
following the terrorist attacks against the United States on Tuesday with
the first of three scheduled performances at the Air Canada Centre. While
some wondered if the group should perform, BSB decided to go on while one
U.S. dollar from each ticket sold to all three Toronto shows would go to

Boys opened the VMA awards presenting the Best Hip Hop Video to Outkast.
AJ said before giving the award, "First and foremost i want to thank MTV,
thank everybody for all the support during my time of need. I really appreciate
it. Today is 64 days sober. I'm proud of myself, thank you. I'm going to
keep on doing it."
September 7, 2001 - Jamie
Foxx opened his Video Music Award monologue joking about AJ causing the
crowd to groan. Foxx cracked, " Like I said, everybody switchin' up their
names... A.J. From Backstreet Boys is going by his new rap name. Long Island
ice-t!" After they gave the award, Foxx tried to offer AJ a bottle laster
insisting "it's just apple cider."
