following A.J.'s trouble with substance abuse which caused their tour to
be sidelined. A.J. admits, "I only dabbled in cocaine — alcohol was the
main problem. I was drinking at 9 in the morning — having a shot of Jack
(Daniel's) to get me going. I became distant from all my loved ones. I
was seeing a shrink, but it wasn't helping." Read more.

most designers can only dream of."
October 28, 2001 - US Weekly
reports rumors are swirling that the Backstreet Boys are on the verge of
breaking up. An unnamed music executive told them, "Each of the members

get a hit off Black & Blue, combine that with dates the group had to
cancel because of A.J.'s substance abuse, and further cancellations due
to poor ticket sales, leaves a combination that could spell doom for the
group, though they've all gone on record saying otherwise planning to record

we were too busy on the road to ask them about it. It was a big game they
were playing, and we're not playing that game anymore." Read more.

October 17, 2001 - Gary Bongiovanni,
editor-in-chief of Pollstar talked about the trouble music acts have had
selling out shows this year, even *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys as the two
acts "performers lack the body of work to sustain annual treks for cash-strapped
younger fans." Said Bongiovanni, "Obviously, we saw Madonna had no problem
selling $250 tickets and U2 had no problem selling those $130 tickets.
Really hot acts can get away with it. But all other acts without pent-up
demand, people who have seen them in years past feel they can skip them
this time around/ Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync are experiencing some of
that. They've toured repeatedly and came back this year with tickets that
were 10 percent higher." Read more.
