April 30, 2002 - ktkm writes "Over the weekend, Leighanne Littrell (wife of Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys) won the "Rising Star" award at the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival for her role in "Megalodon." The announcement goes on to call her a "model, actress, singer/songwriter, wife, and soon-to-be mother." Read more."

April 30, 2002 - Following his team's win of his first race of this year's American Power Boat Association Offshore Tour on Sunday, Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter is "seriously thinking" about buying another race boat and running it himself. Carter admits, "I've really gotten into the sport. I'll start off in one of the smaller classes, learn all I can." Read more.

April 29, 2002 - Jolie Lash of Rolling Stone chatted with Bloodhound Gang frontman Jimmy Pop who revealed *NSYNC may be taking part in their new album, "We both agreed to do it. I talk to them occasionally. I sent Joey [Fatone] one of those Jagermeister Tap machines for Christmas." Meanwhile, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys has contacted Pop for his solo album, "He asked me to write a song for him for his new record, a rock song . . . It was funny because the letter I got from the director of the company says he wants to make an anti-pop pop record. And I guess his tastes in music are probably a lot different than what people would expect. So I just called him yesterday and we shot the sh** and, yeah, we'll see where that goes." Read more.

April 26, 2002 - BsBmIrAcLeZ posts on LiveDaily.com, "I went to the CBS Early Show this morning and since they did the interview outside I got to see Howie and meet him. He did his interview and he spotted by DLF bear and he thanked me for supporting him. Then he signed autographs (he signed my bear) and I took a picture with him. He was so sweet to everyone and he looked amazing." She later met him at his Total Request Live segment on MTV Thursday and promises to post pictures. Read more.

April 26, 2002 - AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys phoned in to Kid Cruz from Orlando's XL 106.7 to talk about living in Malibu now and the work he's doing with Lisa Merlin's house, a long-term housing facility for teenage girls from like 16 and up. April 26, 2002 - WireImage.com has photos of Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys at last night's Democratic National Committee's "A Night at the Apollo" in New York. April 25, 2002 - alwaysbsb writes "New York City is the scene for a mini-publicity tour by Howie D. of the Backstreet Boys. Howie is in New York City this week to promote the Lupus 2002 event to be held in Orlando at The Hard Rock Live on June 22. The Nabisco sponsored event has seen past performers such as O-Town, The Pointer Sisters, and The Monkees participate in the annual charity gala which benefits The Dorough Lupus Foundation. The most noted of Howie's appearances this week will be on Thursday April 25. He will be a guest on CBS's The Early Show and then will also appear on MTV's Total Request Live."

April 24, 2002 - Fans on LiveDaily.com reacted to Kevin Richardson's appearance on Politically Incorrect on Monday with Bill Maher. While Kevin made 17 different comments in the show on SUVs, Robert Blake, and the environment according to the transcript, fans groused over the female guests Annabelle Gurwitch and Erin Shannon who dominated the discussion having over 40 comments each. 'Kev's Speedo' blasted, "I wanna smack that Erin Shannon chick." The comments weren't much better for guest Robert Conrad (31 comments), as 'Suej+AJ+Kev' fumed, "He's an actor and has been a blow hard for a long time. All he wanted to talk about was HIS 5 grandchildren, HIS 7 daughters, HIS need to own a big car because he lives in the mountains, etc." Read the fan reaction here.

April 24, 2002 - Associated Press reports Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys will sing the national anthem before the debut of his new powerboat at the American Power Boat Association Super Vee race on Sunday in Daytona Beach. Nick commented on his move into the sport, "It's going to be a little difficult getting respect, because I am an entertainer. But we're going out there to win, not just to show off."

April 24, 2002 - alwaysbsb writes "Kevin Richardson's Just Within Reach Foundation will award six college scholarships for the 2002-2003 academic year. Three awards of $2,000 will be given to undergraduate students or entering freshmen studying environmental sciences and three awards of $2,000 will be given to undergraduate students or entering freshmen studying marine sciences. April 22, 2002 - alwaysbsb writes "Backstreet Boys member A.J. McLean will make an animated guest appearance on WB's Static Shock on Saturday, April 27. The episode, "Duped," will include the voice talents of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner (currently starring in Showtime's Jeremiah) and rapper/actor Coolio (who also has a small role in Daredevil)." April 18, 2002 - popdirt.com's latest survey asking 'Which pop star has the best hairstyle?' had Mariah Carey winning in a runaway - getting 36.5% of the vote, besting Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter who was second with 15.2%... his brother Aaron didn't fair so well, getting only .67% and ending up in last.

April 17, 2002 - Launch.com spoke with Backstreet Boys AJ McLean at the mtvICON ceremony honoring Aerosmith, to be broadcast on MTV Wednesday. AJ said, "Well, Steven is practically my idol. He's a great human being. He's got a great heart, he's got a great voice, and he's got a great future. They've been doing this for years, and they haven't stopped. We have the whole sobriety thing similar, which is great. I look up to him." AJ also boasted about being clean and sober for almost 10 months now, after battling alcohol addictions much like Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.

April 16, 2002 - Launch.com spoke with AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys about the group's next album. Speaking from the mtvICON event for Aerosmith on Sunday, AJ said, "It's not anything like it was before. It's a whole new direction. We're going to be doing rock, we're going to be doing R&B, we're going to be doing pop, probably going to be working with Max Martin again, hopefully. It's going to be a broad range of music. And hopefully, we can work with these guys (Aerosmith) in here." Read more.

April 16, 2002 - Brad Pitt phoned in to MTV's Total Request Live on Monday, as the show has had celebrity guests making pleas for the actor to visit the show. Carson asked Brad what made him decide to call in, and Pitt said, "I think it was the fact that I can become an honorary member of the Backstreet Boys." Pitt added of the honor, "I can't sing but I can sure dance my little Backstreet off."

April 16, 2002 - Launch.com reports Backstreet Boys member Kevin Richardson's recent visit to Chicago raised more than $56,000 for his environmental foundation, Just Within Reach. Kevin said of the support, "It's really touching that so many people would come out to support a cause I've committed part of my life to. I'm glad more people are joining our efforts to improve the environment." Read more.

April 13, 2002 - The Backstreet Boys Charity Club Convention 2002 will be taking place in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) on October 11-13, which will give fans on the west coast and Canada to share in the success of the Fan Convention just held in Baltimore, Maryland. April 12, 2002 - Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys was featured on MTV's Total Request Live on Thursday, where he talked about the group's new album. Kevin said, "We've thought about several concept album ideas. One was to write kinda like a musical. Thought about doing an album where each of us had like two cuts, each just singing lead." April 10, 2002 - Actress, comedian, and cult figure of sorts Janeane Garofalo was on Last Call with Carson Daly on early Tuesday morning, where she discussed her thoughts on pop music. Garofalo is no fan of what currently is passing for pop music, including *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears on her list, which she tied to the corporate controlled radio and television interests that are "complicit in the dumbing down of the tastes of Americans." April 8, 2002 -  A forum poster claiming to be former Backstreet Boys keyboardist-songwriter Tommy Smith gave his side of the lawsuit he filed against the group and Zomba Enterprises, Inc. last month on the official O-Town Band message board recently. Tommy said of his action, "The truth is I didn't wait this long. I tried for Months to work it out with the boys, even after I left.. But the Firm never took my calls." Read more.

April 4, 2002 - Aftonbladet spoke with Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter earlier this week before he headed off to England to continue work on his solo album. Nick commented on his earlier brawl with his bodyguard in Stockholm saying, "It was with this guy," as he pointed to a bodyguard and friend sitting next to him. Nick added, "It wasn't a fight, it was an argument. We have sorted it out and are friends again. It´s cool." As for how his solo record is going, Carter revealed, "I have been listening and recording different songs. It have actually worked out pretty fine. April 2, 2002 - Kevin Richardson hosted MTV's Total Request Live on Monday where he opened by playing an April Fool's joke saying the Backstreet Boys had broken up. He did address talk of Nick wanting to do a solo album as well as what they are planning for AJ's bachelor party. Kevin also interviewed Tweet and actress Ashley Judd. Read more.

April 2, 2002 - Just received word that Backstreet.net, the top rated Backstreet Boys fan site, has taken our advice and moved from a dedicated T-1 line to being hosted by Rackshack.net... a move that should cut their hosting costs to a mere fraction of the $2 grand they were shelling out having in-house hosting. Good luck to them, and the rest of the pop music fan sites struggling with covering hosting costs while getting virtually nothing from advertisers.
