May 31, 2002 - A spokesman
tells Worldpop that the fact that the Backstreet Boys' official website
is on hiatus does not mean the group is breaking up. "The website is on
hiatus because the band are working on new material. They're planning to
release a new album and are working on individual projects as well," the
spokesman explained. Of course the prior website was operated by the group's
prior management, The Firm, but for whatever reason the spokesman made

31, 2002 - Just a reminder to watch the CBS Early Show on Friday as Backstreet
Boys star Nick Carter will join his younger brother Aaron Carter in a performance
live from The Early Show Plaza at the corner of 59th Street and Fifth Avenue.
The performance will happen sometime between 7-9 am, though likely towards
the end to keep the young demographic glued to their TV sets. If you miss
it, the show's official site should have an online video archive. Check

May 30, 2002 - AJ McLean
tells Universal One that the Backstreet Boys "will be staying together
for years to come." Speaking of Nick Carter's solo album that prompted
new rounds of rumors the band would split, AJ said, "This time it’s about
Nick; the next time it could be another one of us. the important thing
is that there is support and comradeship between all of us." AJ says Nick's
side project won't hurt the band: "On the contrary. I believe that the

Boys star Howie Dorough arrived in Mexico over the weekend with sister
Pollyanna to promote the Dorough Foundation Lupus. Howie said in a press
conference that the group is excited to be working with Babyface and Jermaine
Dupre on the new album. Howie also revealed the group plans to release
the first single off the new album in August, while he hopes the album

Boys were not present at the first MTV Video Music Awards Japan in Tokyo
earlier this week, but did manage to win an award for best group of the

has a new book out in September entitled 'Brotherhood', written by Nick
Carter, which chronicles the Backstreet Boys star's relationship with younger
brother Aaron Carter. The book comes out September 2002 and can be pre-ordered

with AJ McLean's mother Denise, who was not surprised that a lawsuit has
been filed against her son and the Backstreet Boys. "You just get some
people out there that, for whatever reason, jealousy or whatever, they
feel like they deserve a piece of the success," she said of the suit filed
by Helene Bahn, who claims she suffered a herniated disc in her neck when
AJ tossed his shirt into the crowd at a Feb 27th show in St. Petersburg,

Soluna spoke with Springolo.com's Jessica Jones who talked about working
with Howie D from the Backstreet Boys helped write 'Don't Wanna Live My
Life Without You.' The girls "got to meet [the Backstreet Boys] plus a
lot of other cool people." As for who T would like to open for, she replied,
"There are so many people we would enjoy to open for but I think we would
really like to open for N Sync. Or even Stevie Wonder." Lopez adds of *NSYNC,
"They are one of the groups that me and the other girls all agree to listen

Racing, the Super Vee-class entry owned by Nick Carter of the Backstreet
Boys, broke down in the third lap of the APBA Marathon Offshore Grand Prix
when the drive shaft came apart. Nick watched the event from the old Seven
Mile Bridge in Marathon, Florida, as TV cameras and teenyboppers trailed

the American Power Boat Association's Marathon Offshore Grand Prix. Sunday
will have his younger brother Aaron Carter sing the National Anthem for

May 18, 2002 - The Smoking
Gun published documents today revealing that Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean
is being sued by Helene Bahn after she was bumrushed by fans at a concert
in Tampa when AJ threw his Tampa Bay Devil Rays jersey into the crowd.
The battle for the shirt left Bahn with a herniated disc that required
surgery, and other injuries, according to her lawyer. The suit claims AJ
should have known throwing the shirt would have caused the commotion. Read

Robbie Williams' writing partner Guy Chambers has been recruited by Backstreet
Boys star Nick Carter to help him out on his solo album. Guy told the Sun,
"Nick wants to be an American Robbie. I like him – he could be massive."
Chambers is also currently writing for BBMak and Pop Idol winner Will Young.

May 17, 2002 - The new issue
of Japan's InRock magazine includes five photos of Backstreet Boys members
Howie D, AJ McLean, and Kevin Richardson recording in studio around Easter
time. The photos feature Kevin and Howie on guitar, a preview of the group's

the Sun got their drinking story about Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean from
Star magazine. Not only is the accusation of a booze bender at The Lounge
last month, but the tabloid also says McLean was spotted slipping Jack
Daniel's into his Coca-Cola at the Fairway to Heaven golf tourney in Miami.
A source said, "A.J. wanted miniatures of Jack Daniel's along with a Coke
to drink as he trundled along in his golf cart. When I asked him if he
just wanted me to get him a big bottle, he refused. It was obvious he didn't
want everyone on the course knowing he was boozing between holes." AJ's
fiance Sarah Martin phoned in earlier this week to strongly deny the charges,
and suggested that she didn't even want to tell AJ about the story as it
would be too upsetting to him.

group 'LovingSarah', calling the report "total bullcrap" and added that

calls to his friend or friends. I heard a ton of giggling and saw a lot
of hanging up. It was quite amusing and I feel a tinge badly for whomever

as the Backstreet Boys star was spotted at The Lounge in Los Angeles having
downed eight whisky and cokes in just 30 minutes. An onlooker said: "He
made no attempt to cover it up his boozing and talked loudly about how

May 10, 2002 - Aaron Carter's
official site tells fans that Aaron will be performing with his Backstreet
Boys brother Nick Carter on CBS Early Show (during the 8am hour) on the
corner of 59th and 5th Ave, Friday, May 31 by Central Park, in New York
City. They will sing their duet, 'Not Too Young, Not Too Old' off the 'O
'Aaron' album. Fans can watch the performance in person for free.
May 9, 2002 - Allthough the
Backstreet Boys official site (backstreetboys.com) has been down for quite
some time, the official fan club is back up. They are only letting in current
members log in, you cannot sign up for it at the moment because the Backstreet
Boys are still dealing with their managment 'The Firm'. The site also mentions
that there is going to be a new Nick Carter website coming soon, so watch
out for that.

Boy Nick Carter's offshore powerboat-racing team is set to make its hometown
debut in the Florida Keys on May 17-19th at the American Power Boat Association's
(APBA) Marathon Offshore Grand Prix. The race is the second of the circuit's
2002 offshore-racing season, the first was won by the Nick Carter Racing

Cruise that just wrapped up and had Nick Carter and his brother Aaron Carter
aboard. Oceanbaby writes, "The last night I was fortunate to hang out with
him and his buddies and some other friends we had made on the cruise. It
was quite an eventful night. I never really got to talk to him one-on-one,
which I wish I could've done, but that's ok, I still consider myself lucky.
I was there when he had some pretty deep conversations. I'm not going to
go into what was said, it was personal and I don't feel that it needs to
be shared with anyone else." She did however reveal, "He has been very
misjudged by critics and his fans. He likes to live life and he may party,

that all the rumors you may be hearing about Howie being arrested at TABU
are FALSE. I've gotten many e-mails and phone calls about the situation
and I'm here announcing that this is nothing but a RUMOR. Johnny (Howie's
brother) went on XL 106.7 (Orlando radio station) last night and tried
to put an end to the rumors. Howie is in L.A. right now recording with
the other boys." Well actually he's in Kentucky right now ahead of Saturday's
Derby.

his production deal lawsuits with Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC, insisting
it wasn't all about negativity. "The press likes writing negative things

Boys, AJ gave me a very beautiful Mercedes Benz just last year. And *NSYNC
did a movie with us called 'Long Shot', which went straight to video. Britney
