June 28, 2002 - According to PopStar00 on the wonderful LiveDaily.com Backstreet Boys forum, Howie Dorough was interviewed on B96 in Chicago to promote his appearance at the Miss Illinois Pageant. When asked by the DJ if he was single, Howie said, "No, actually I'm dating someone right now... I can't believe I'm finally saying that!" He added, "But legally, I'm single." Read more.

June 27, 2002 - A.J. Gil of 'American Idol' was interviewed by KCPQ 13 in Tacoma tonight after he was voted to move on into the next round. Earlier in the broadcast they had spoken with his girlfriend and sister from his home in Tacoma, WA, while he phoned in from Los Angeles. AJ said that he had run into Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter while in LA and that Nick recognized who he was from the show, which had him pretty excited.

June 27, 2002 - American City Business Journals reports kids at Florida's Space Camp are signing a large "Follow Your Dreams" banner which will be presented to *NSYNC star Lance Bass before he hopes to depart to outerspace on board a Russian rocket this fall. Read more.

June 27, 2002 - Jennifer D'Angelo of Fox News reports following the lead of stars like Brad Pitt, Mark McGrath and *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake, guys are beginning to color their hair. "When guys started coloring their hair a few years ago, their only options were to go to a salon, which was very expensive, or buy women's products in the women's aisle at the drug store, which they were uncomfortable doing," said Michael Wendroff, vice president for hair color marketing at Just for Men's parent company, Combe. "Maxim is a guy's brand, a brand that guys can really relate to and feel comfortable buying." Read more.

June 26, 2002 - Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter briefly appeared on Access Hollywood on Tuesday where he addressed his brush with the law back in january, when he was arrested outside this nightclub in Tampa, Florida. Nick admits, "Being with the boys and touring and constantly working, I was in a situation where I couldn't slow down." He admits that the incident was a wake up call though adding, "There was a point where I wasn't quite all there and I was just kind of floating and now, I got my feet on the ground and I'm ready for anything."

June 25, 2002 - Imp697 writes "In a birthday greeting to a member of the Loving Sarah Yahoo Group, Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean described the city of Cape Cod, Massachusetts as "the most depressing miserable place he has ever been in his life." June 25, 2002 - BSBArmy4Life shared her experience of meeting Backstreet Boys stars Kevin Richardson and AJ McLean at the 2002 Willowbend Children's Charity Pro Am golf tournament Monday in Mashpee, Mass. BSBArmy4Life was able to obtain autographs from both stars and said of the experience, "I can die happily right now lol. Today was great. Nothing could have been much better. AJ and Kevin were both SO nice and just awesome people to meet. June 22, 2002 - Popdirt.com's latest poll asking 'For albums expected out later this year, which album will sell more copies in its first week?' had over 5,700 votes cast and topping the list was the Backstreet Boys, who got just under 28%. That was enough to beat out *NSYNC rival Justin Timberlake, who got 23.7%, while O-Town got 18.5% and Christina Aguilera nabbed 12.7%. June 22, 2002 - Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys stopped by the Star 93.7 studios in Boston to give an update on what he and his bandmates have been up to. Kevin is in the Boston area for the weekend so he can play in the Willow Bend Children's Pro Am golf charity event on Monday in Mashpee, MA. June 19, 2002 - Unreleased material by Backstreet Boy star Nick Carter has emerged with the leak of 'Love to Love'. According to postings on LiveDaily.com, the song was produced by his friend Lamar Young of Too Live Entertainment in 2000. The song was a demo for 'Black & Blue', but "never made final cut but it wasnt really full produced." Also, Young is in the backgrounds of the tune. You can listen to the track here:

June 13, 2002 - The Financial Times has more of a business-side perspective of the decision by Clive Calder of Zomba record group to cash in his company to Bertelsmann Music Group. Richard Waters writes, "The particular circumstances of the sale have little to do with the overall health of the music business. But the deal also points to the twin pressures that have left the record companies staggering: in the midst of a punishing cyclical downturn, secular forces have also been at work that have raised doubts about the industry's future shape." June 13, 2002 - CDNow.com reports that Nikki Sixx, who wrote most of the Motley Crue stuff, told them at the Gene Simmons Tongue launch party at Barfly in Hollywood Tuesday that he has written a song, 'Let's Get It Together,' for possible inclusion on the next Backstreet Boys album. June 12, 2002 - Zomba, the parent company of Jive Records, said that it had exercised an option to sell the remainder of the music group to Bertelsmann (BMG) in a deal the German media group said in its recent annual report would be worth around $3 billion. June 12, 2002 - Senator George Voinovich R-Ohio was on NPR Monday to address his reasoning to boycott Backstreet Boys star Kevin Richardson's testimony at the Senate Environment and Public Works clean air subcommittee last Thursday. Voinovich blamed his boycott on Richardson being added to the hearing at the last minute, even though his quote before Kevin's testimony was: "It's just a joke to think that this witness can provide members of the United States Senate with information on important geological and water quality issues. June 9, 2002 - CNN Crossfire discussed Friday the Republican Senator George Voinovich of Ohio skipping a hearing by the Senate Environments and Public Works Committee on Thursday because he didn't want to hear from Backstreet Boys star Kevin Richardson, claiming celebrities were becoming a sideshow in Senate hearings recently. Guest Panelist Jonah Goldberg of the National Review Online said, "Well, I don't think it's necessarily hypocritical to point out that this kid from the Backstreet Boys doesn't necessarily have any expertise. He claims his own expertise is that he's flown over a couple of mountains. I can guarantee you, there are a lot of experts who have flown over a bunch of mountains, who can give better and more serious testimony." Read more.

June 8, 2002 - AftonBladet reports Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter arrived in Stockholm on Tuesday on a secret visit. Carter spent Tuesday sleeping in his hotel room before emerging outside later that evening. Nick said, "It's nice to be back in Sweden again." George Voinovich's announcement that he'd boycotting today's Senate Environment and Public Works Clean Air Subcomittee hearing because of his presence. "It's pretty sad," Kevin fumed. "I am personally insulted. I hope I see him tomorrow. I would like to have a discussion with him, man to man. It's insulting for someone to assume ignorance of the issue because of my occupation. Nick said, "Of course, I can't stray too far away from what I've done, so I'm stuck with that. And I've also added a new element of which I've loved since I was a little baby: rock music.
