August 31, 2002 - Willa Ford
called into B96 in Chicago last week and gave an update of what she's been
up to on her new album, which she says has a hip-hop and rock vibe, with
a mass sex-appeal to it. Willa was at her boyfriend's house, who is an
athlete, and is over 30, and isn't a Cowboy. Willa says she hasn't heard
Nick Carter's debut solo singer 'Help Me', but Willa's mom heard it and
like it. Willa said she spoke with her former Backstreet Boys boyfriend,
and they gave her a rough time about the bad breath remarks she gave them
on their last interview. Willa
said she got in big trouble when she made those remarks, and Nick called
and asked why did she say that about him. Download the clip here.
August 30, 2002 - Our last
poll asking if you prefer the solo debut single from *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake
or Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter had about 60% of you voting for Nick's

which he performed at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday.
August 30, 2002 - Sounds
like *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake was exhibiting some rather snooty behavior
to his Backstreet Boys rival Nick Carter at Jive Records headquarters,
where both are set to release their solo debuts. According to Groovevolt.com's
inside sources, Nick's meeting with execs at the label started late because
Timberlake was meeting with them when he arrived. "When Justin finally
appeared," the insider adds. "He noticed Nick waiting and greeted him with
a sly smirk and kept walking." Read more, including news on a possible
Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton collaboration here.
August 30, 2002 - In this
week's popbitch newsletter is their proclamation that Nick Carter has left
the Backstreet Boys. They cite Carter not splitting with The Firm, releasing
a solo album, and that he's not involved at all in the next Backstreet
album. Popbitch says, "This may be a good move by Nick, as the album sounds
like more of the same tired old R&B production which, thanks to the
over-rated Rodney Jerkins and Babyface, made last album 'Black & Blue'
so turgid."
August 30, 2002 - The Dees

In the brief article, People reveals that the couple are expecting a little

missing a beat, Carter serenaded Quinton on her 25th with a jazzy, a cappella
rendition of 'Happy Birthday.'
August 29, 2002 - A fan on
the Backstreet Boys forum at LiveDaily got to meet Nick Carter and later
BBMak on Tuesday during their visits to KIIS FM. Shan4BSB writes, "When
we walked in [to the studio], I somehow managed to end up right next to
Nick and ended up staying there the whole time ( a little over an hour).
I got really lucky in that department, lol. I don't remember all that much
of the interview while we were up there because I was in shock that I was
standing next to Nick, lol. But during commercial breaks and during the
songs, he talked and joked with us and took pics, gave autographs and gave
hugs! He was extremely accomodating!" Read more.

I talked to him, everything was cool. They never threatened me to leave
the group, like I heard people say," replied Nick when asked about the
rumors. He was also asked what he might do in case such an occasion really
were to occur, "My God, I don't know. This would never happen. As far as

August 27, 2002 - PBS Kids
recently interviewed Aaron Carter and asked how he got along with his older
brother Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. "Yeah, I get along with Nick
very well. He's very competitive with me, though," Aaron said. "Everything
I do he thinks he can do it better. Like motorcycles, he's never ridden
one in his life until about a month and a half ago. I was showing him this
trick: what I do is I go off a jump, about a 7-foot jump, and I do a 360-twist
tail-grab. And he thinks he can do it. That's a really hard, hard trick.
(I created it myself.) It's really hard because you have to hold onto the
handlebars, let go in the middle of the air, do a full twist, grab onto
the tail before you fall off, then pull yourself back on. So he thinks
he can do it. He gets on the bike; he doesn't even know how to use the
clutch. He gets on it, pops the clutch, then falls backward, and the bikes
go over. So I teach him, and he goes off the jump, and he tried to do it.
He did the twist but he just didn't grab on and he fell and landed on his
stomach. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life." Watch
the interview clips here.
August 25, 2002 - Ben Rayner
of the Toronto Star profiled the heavy burden that pop stars have to put
up with, which has led to Mariah Carey's much-publicized meltdown, the
ongoing collapse of the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears's recent decision
to take a six-month break. Terry McBride, whose Vancouver-based Nettwerk
Management is currently grooming Avril Lavigne for stardom said, "I think
they worked Britney Spears too hard. It's been four years, and not only
is she tired, people are tired of her. There's the saying: 'Burn the song,
not the artist.' You can't be greedy. You have to know when to say enough."

Richardson said from Los Angeles, where he's now recording the new Backstreet

me before he made those comments -- I think he made himself look bad. He
didn't know I grew up in Appalachian Kentucky, that I grew up in those
Appalachian mountains, that my grandfather was a coal miner, and that I
have a vested interest in that hearing. I have flown over those sites,
I've seen the damage, and what it's doing to those mountain ranges in West
