August 29, 2003 - Residents of Marathon, Florida are telling Globe magazine they want the family of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter out of town after their multiple run-ins with the law, the latest being the arrest of Nick's father Bob. One local says, "Marathon is a beautiful place, but we have one huge eyesore - the Carter family. When some of them aren't breaking the law or terrorizing the town, they're usually going around arrogantly reminding people of who they are." And even the local cops would like the family to up and move. One unnamed police officer says, "There are some officers who would help them to move. They are a perfect example of what happens to a family that can't handle the spoils of fame and fortune."

August 27, 2003 - Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter and his brother Aaron Carter help launch Twister Moves from Hasbro Games, a dance version of the classic Twister game that has everyone "twisting" and "moving" to the music this summer. If you purchase Twister Moves beginning August 20th, while supplies last, you will receive a ticket to meet Nick and Aaron Carter and get their autograph during a private signing event held at the Toys 'R Us Times Square store in New York City on Saturday, September 6. August 27, 2003 - Anonymous writes "In a recent post on her official website, Sarah Martin confirmed that Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean and herself are still in contact, trying to make things work in their relationship. Responding to a fan's question about the pair, Martin responded, "Alex and I? We are doing very well right now. We are talking several times a day, and we see one another pretty often these days. We have made a commitment to each other to build a strong foundation for our future (It's hard work on both of our parts). He is in New York today and will be attending the MTV Awards on Thursday, so tune in to see if you can catch him in the audience. He'll also do a little 'red carpeting' so that he can talk a bit about what's going on in his life. August 23, 2003 - ATC_Dee writes "The recent issure of Star magazine is false. Christy Lane is not, and was not dating Nick Carter. According to an admin at Angel Carter's official website, the writer of the article (Jose Lambiet) is being sued and also losing his column. Rumors were sparked when Christy hugged the Backstreet Boys star at an airport and a picture was snapped of the together. Lane says that they are only friends. Read more."

August 21, 2003 - Angel Carter, sister of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter and Aaron Carter posted on her official board several times tonight under her user name "Angel", and proceeded to tell everyone that her "*****ty mom [Jane] has kept her from going to any of her brother's shows this summer" along with another comment where she said after being asked if she's been touring with Aaron: "Hey everyone I want you to all know that I have not been on the tour at all. I haven't even seen the show yet. My mom won't let me on the tour. Me and my mom don't even speak anymore." Jane and Bob Carter are currently involved in a bitter separation after Bob was arrested earlier this month for domestic battery. August 15, 2003 - While 33-year-old Christy Lane was denying any romantic ties to Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter at first, she's apparently opened up to Star magazine. "At least Nick is going out with a real woman, not a little girl," the divorced mother with a 7-year-old daughter argued in regards to their 10 year age difference. Lane added, "I love him, and I'm hoping we'll end up together for good. I may be 10 years older than him, but I'm young at heart. We're very similar. We joke a lot. He loves kids." Asked if she minds that Carter appears to have gained 50 pounds from his Backstreet days, the slim Lane insisted, "Not at all. I just love him."

August 15, 2003 - Nick Carter's interview with the National Enquirer has bee posted by a fan at LiveDaily.com, where he commented on the breakup of his parents Bob and Jane Carter. "My mother and father are going through some trouble right now and it's hurting the family," said a deeply saddened Nick. "I mean, it tearing up my little brother. Aaron's going through a real bad time." Jane's now pushing to have the Marathon homes put up for sale, said the close family source. And she's keeping Aaron isolated from Nick and their sisters: Angel, Leslie, and Bobbie Jean. "I can't even get Aaron on the phone. My mom won't let me talk to him," said Angel. Read more.

August 14, 2003 - elgato writes "UpcomingHorrorMovies.com has the scoop on the new "over the top horror/comedy" featuring Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter. Their plot summary states, "A college guy inherits a brewery, and decides to sell it because along with the brewery, he’s inherited $100,000 of debt. So he and his friends go to clean this place up, but what they don’t know is that his supposedly long-dead ancestors have been locked away in the cellar, living off beer made out of human blood. They manage to lock the kids in the brewery, and from then on it's a chase." Two other cast members have been named: Brad Dourif (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Child's Play 1-3) and Amanda Plummer (Freeway, Pulp Fiction, So I Married An Axe Murderer). The director of the flick will be Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist). Shooting begins in October."

August 13, 2003 - elgato writes "Mark Pitta, a reporter for KTVU in California, was able to do a sit-down interview with Kevin Richardson on the set of 'Chicago.' Pitta asked Kevin how being in the Backstreet Boys contrasts doing theatre. Kevin said he's glad that the group became so huge that they are enabled to do solo things like this, and all the guys in the group are benefiting. Pitta then asked if they'd ever drop the 'Boys' out of Backstreet Boys. Kevin said the Beastie Boys, Pet Shop Boys, and Beach Boys haven't done so after all these years and neither will the Backstreet Boys. He then discusses how 'Chicago' the movie came out right when he was rehearsing for the Broadway musical. He says he found it interesting how he and Richard Gere approached various aspects of the character Billy Flynn in contrasting ways. Kevin did say however that his take on Flynn wasn't really influenced that much by Gere's, because he didn't want to borrow or steal anything from him. He wanted to make the role his own. Kevin then told Pitta his daily routine. He works out at the gym, performs his role Billy Flynn at the San Francisco Golden Gate Theatre, and then writes/produces music for some of the artists he knows in California. August 13, 2003 - The San Franscisco Chronicle reports Backstreet Boys star Kevin Richardson, who is in town appearing in 'Chicago,' was spotted at the Clift Hotel's Redwood Room Thursday night. Kevin was surrounded by gaga fans, according to a spy, and had such a good time that he stayed until closing time. On Sunday, Richardson and the 'Chicago' cast went to Asia SF, where the "girls" performed a 'Cell Block Tango' to honor their guests.

August 13, 2003 - Chrissy Iley of the London Daily Mail is arguing why her friend Jennifer Lopez will marry Ben Affleck despite his strip club incident. Iley says, "Jennifer is the type of woman who, where men are concerned, would rather ignore the painful truth than accept it. Not because she's a coward, but because the only way she can love a man is to believe in him with every fibre of her being." Read more.

August 13, 2003 - New details from NBC 6 on the arrest of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter's father Bob, who was arrested in Marathon Thursday and charged with battering his wife. Robert G. Carter, 50, also father of Aaron Carter, faces a criminal charge for allegedly shoving his wife to the ground during an argument over their impending separation. Jane Carter alleges Bob chased her around the house, kicked down doors, and shoved her in a shower, causing her head to bruise and swell, but deputies responding to a 911 call found no evidence of that, the arrest report said. August 11, 2003 - elgato writes "According to TVGuide, Nick Carter will appear on the new FOX show Banzai at 7:30 PM(ET/PT) on Sunday, Aug 17. The summary for the episode says, "Lady One Question queries Nick Carter; Elliott Gould meets Mr. Shake Hands Man; two religious figures compete in sipping hot tea; a model shoots at blow-up dolls." For those of you who don't know who Lady One Question is, FOX describes her as "the intrepid interviewer who simply asks celebrities a question, then does absolutely nothing." So she'll probably ask the Backstreet Boys star a simple question. He'll answer. And then she'll stare at him. He'll probably think she's crazy, so he'll start adding to his answer to try to make it longer. When he's done, she'll continue to stare at him, saying nothing. This show is games, reality, and comedy all rolled into 30 minutes of TV."

August 9, 2003 - The Keynoter reports Bob Carter, father of Marathon residents Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his brother Aaron Carter landed in jail Thursday night on a charge of domestic battery after allegedly pushing his wife in a shower, bruising her head. The report says that Carter, 50, and his wife Jane went for a ride in his racing boat during the day, then had dinner at Burdine’s Waterfront at the end of 15th Street. Then they returned to their home, and he "started yelling at everyone," allegedly throwing a coffeepot and other things at his wife, then entered a moving truck and started tossing boxes out of it. August 9, 2003 - elgato writes "NicksAirhead272 from the Backstreet Boys forum at LiveDaily.com posted that Kevin Richardson would be at Macy's in Union Square to meet with fans and give away a few tickets to see 'Chicago. It takes place on Wednesday, August 13th at noon in Mac Cosmetics Level 1. Kevin's 'Chicago' co-stars Bianca Morroquin, Brenda Braxton, and Morcia Lewlis Bryan will also be in attendance. August 9, 2003 - The Enquirer reports Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter has been dating former model Christy Lane for the past three months. An insider said the 33-year-old Lane "is definitely not the teenybopper type you see screaing at Nick when he's onstage." The pair reportedly met in April when they were in Miami watching a boat race. "They ended up talking and getting friendly," the source added, "and the more they got to know each other, the more the attraction grew. It eventually turned into a romance." When contacted by popdirt.com, Lane responded, "Nick and I are just really good friends. Aside from that, I have no comment," though she did take some solace in the fact that the unwanted tabloid attention didn't come about during the height of the boyband craze. August 7, 2003 - Aidin Vaziri of The San Francisco Chronicle spoke with Backstreet Boys star Kevin Richardson, who had kind things to say about the solo success of boyband rival Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC. "You know, I'm so happy for Justin," he said. "He's such a talented young man and he's very humble. And when I do see him on TV, I do miss it and want to get back out there. But I'm enjoying the break from the constant go, go, go. It's nice to sit back and breathe." Read more.

When asked if his Broadway run means the Backstreet Boys have broken up, Kevin said, "We've been together 10 years. We're all giving each other a chance to follow our dreams. The article also says that Howie's working with a Japanese/Korean singer. The translation says, "BoA,who is 16-year-old Korean famous singer (but she works in Japan) will collaborate with Howie D, one of the Backstreet Boy for BRATZ's debut single 'Show Me What You Got,' which will be released on Aug. 27th. This song will be included in BoA's new album that will be released the same day. More than half of the songs included in her new album are in English. August 1, 2003 - elgato writes "Fans in South America were looking forward to seeing Nick Carter's video 'I Got You' on MTV LA but were disappointed when Jive Records refused to release the video there. BlowYourMind from the Backstreet Boys Forum at LiveDaily.com says, "Well I'm so happy, I was watching MTV yesterday and I was watching a TV Show called 'Casi +' before the top ten of MTV LA, and the host of the TV show said this: 'A lot of people have been sending emails to request Nick's latest video. There were actually thousands of emails requesting this. I even started to dream about Nick Carter, all these emails just drove me insane, and finally after many months we got Nick's new video exclusively on MTV.
