heartthrob Orlando Bloom is going where he's never gone before: playing
an American in a non-period film. "It was very liberating," Bloom told
'Extra' of his role in 'Elizabethtown'. "It was a little intimidating as
well, my first kind of contemporary role. And I'm playing an American.

an engagement with longtime girlfriend Kate Bosworth, but the couple certainly
are very much a coosome twosome -- spied Friday night holding hands and
enjoying quite the romantic dinner on the terrace of the Gardens restaurant
at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.

New York Daily News spy close to the production of 'Elizabethtown' reported
that a "disappointed" Cameron Crowe thought Orlando Bloom was "flat as
a board" in the movie, which opens October 14th, Crowe himself called gossip
scribe Lloyd Grove twice to do some energetic damage control. "I absolutely
love Orlando's performance - I love everything he did," insisted the director.
