of CDNow.com spoke with Enrique Iglesias about his thoughts on the Latin
pop market and whether or not there was a 'boom' in the market that now
is over. Enrique said, "It's funny how times have changed, no? Now it's
over. But for me, it wasn't a boom; for me it was about a few artists that
were good artists and had good music and were doing well, and two of them
were Puerto Rican -- Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin -- and I'm from Spain.
It's like saying there's three guys from Ohio who are singers, and they
start doing well; is that an Ohio music trend? Don't get me wrong; I'm
not against that trend. I thought it was great, and it did help me when

26, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias chatted with fans in an online chat conducted
by The Sun. When a fan asked him how he felt when people call you the new
Ricky Martin, Enrique said, "I'm nothing like him! Come on, Hero? Hero
and the rest of my music is very different to anything by Ricky Martin."
As for rumors of a romance with Jennifer Love Hewitt, he said, "I heard
that. It's been said because we have done the video together. I do not

Aguilera's mother Shelly Kearns told fans on her daughter's official site,
"Ricky [Martin] and Christina are wonderful friends. You cannot meet a
sweeter man on this planet than Ricky - that's what Christina constantly
says."
January 21, 2002 - In an
abstracts.net poll asking 'Should Ricky be making public statements against
US Navy bombing training exercise on the island of Vieques?', 64.7% said
yes while 35.3% said no, with 224 total votes cast.
January 6, 2002 - Evelyn
McDonnell of the Miami Herald put together New Year's resolutions of the
stars in what she wished they'd had said and included the following of
Ricky Martin; "I resolve to stage a comeback that will show everyone I
am, in fact, talented as well as gorgeous and that Latin crossover is here

January 5, 2002 - Ricky Martin
was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals ('Nobody Wants to
Be Lonely') in the February 27th Grammy Awards to be held in Los Angeles
