chatted with Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson after picking up ALMA's
prestigious Vanguard Award on Saturday night. Ricky said of his acceptance
speech, "I started to get all tongue-twisted when I was giving my speech.
But it's OK -- people understood and they felt it. It was all about emotions.

May 20, 2002 - At the ALMA
awards on Saturday, Ricky Martin received the National Council of La Raza
Vanguard Award. The awards took place at the historic Shrine Auditorium
in Los Angeles and will air on ABC, June 1, 8:00pm - 10:00 pm. Read more.
May 18, 2002 - Leila Cobo
of Billboard.com reports Ricky Martin is planning to release both English
and Spanish albums by year-end. Ricky explained the move saying that Latin
artists shouldn't forget where they came from after crossing over into
the English market. Why? "Because there's a very large industry we have
to support, there's great Latin American composers, great musicians, great
labels, and we can't leave that to one side," he said. "It's very important
to assert what we have." Read more.

of LaMusica.com chatted with Ricky Martin about his trademark dance that
is a big departure from his early days with Menudo. "For the first five
years of my career everything was choreographed," he said. "I vowed never

May 14, 2002 - Buckingham
Palace has revealed that the latest acts to sign on for Queen Elizabeth
at a concert for the 50th anniversary of her accession are Ozzy Osbourne
and Ricky Martin. The Queen's Jubilee concert takes place June 3rd in the
gardens of Buckingham Palace and already includes star musicians Eric Clapton,
Aretha Franklin, Elton John and Paul McCartney.
May 14, 2002 - An English
translation to Ricky Martin's acceptance speech at the Billboard Latin
Music Awards has been posted. In accepting the special Spirit of Hope award
for his charitable works, Ricky said: "Many thanks! Its very important,
No? A night that is very important because it brings me the pride of all
Latins and a Latino Award-very important!" Read more.

Miramax Pictures' Harvey Weinstein has been courting Ricky Martin to make
his movie debut in a sequel to 'Dirty Dancing'. Ricky would star opposite
Natalie Portman in 'Dirty Dancing 2' and be set in Miami. A source revealed,
"Martin has been searching for the right kind of vehicle which might involve
dancing and perhaps a song or two. He likes Harvey's ideas."

May 9, 2002 - A fan
on Ricky Martin's official website message board shared highlights of Ricky's
interview at the Billboard Conference earlier today. Ricky says he's working
on both an English and Spanish album, one of the songs will be dealing
with his frustrations of being unable to help the people of Afghansitan
following the devastating earthquake the country had earlier this year.
Ricky also revealed he's learning to play the piano and may show off the

column this week briefly touched on the talk of a romance between Ines
Misan and Val Kilmer. Of course Ines had earlier been linked to Ricky Martin,
so with her latest hookup Billy cracked, "Sounds like Ines has found a
little niche for herself - and that's all I'm sayin'."
May 7, 2002 - Eileen Esquilín
Creek of Elnuevodia.com spoke to Peruvian journalist Laura Bozzo who revealed
she'll be presenting an award to Ricky Martin at the Billboard show on
Thursday night in Miami. The award is being given for his involvement in
charity and humanitarian causes. Amongst those causes were his protesting

reports Ricky Martin spoke of the ruthless paparazzi, saying: "You just
