August 20, 2002 - Ricky Martin
recently chatted with CNNenespanol.com and was asked if he gets tired of
fame. "It is very easy to get tired of fame because there are many sacrifices,"
he said. "But thanks to the people who I have around me and the foundations

18, 2002 - One of the constant issues with male pop stars is the 'is he
gay?' questioning. The results of last month's search queries on pay-per
search engine Overture.com though suggest it isn't a huge issue with searchers.
We tracked down the ratio of normal searches vs. '[singer name] gay' searches,
to figure out who is most associated with being homosexual. Read more.
August 14, 2002 - Yahoo!
has a photo of Ricky Martin with former Costa Rican President Oscar Arias
and Puerto Rican Gov. Sila Calderon at a peace conference at the Caribbean
Hilton Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Monday (August 12). At the conference
Arias denounced a recent U.S. decision to cut funding to the U.N. Population
Fund, saying the lives of poor women were being put in jeopardy. Check

August 13, 2002 - The 'American
Idol' judges stopped by to critique the artists on MTV"s Total Request
Live on Monday. Simon started it off by making a nasty remark about Shakira's
'Objection (Tango)' saying, "Right, that sounds like Ricky Martin with
a high voice. Out of 10 we'll give the song 2."
August 5, 2002 - Doug Elfman
of the Las Vegas Review Journal spoke with New York native Marc Anthony
about his disgust for being grouped in the "Latin explosion." Anthony fumed,
"When the hell does race or religion play a card in what you do artistically?
Do you think I have talent or not?" He added, "It's socially significant
music. And you're gonna tell me (Martin's) 'She's All I Ever Had' is Latin
music? And (Lopez's) 'If You Had My Love' is Latin music? I was just going
bonkers." While J.Lo and Ricky don't seem to have a problem with it, Anthony
sighed, "Everybody else was cool with it, (saying), 'It's our time.' Who's
time is it? I was born in New York. It was always my time." Read more.

Hayden of Steppin' Out magazine caught up with Paulina Rubio and asked
her about some musical peers. As for Ricky Martin, Paulina calls him her
favorite celebrity friend. "We grew up together," she explained. "He was
in Menudo and I was in a girl group that competed against them. I love
Ricky! We're family. I'm also close to Mark Anthony." Read more.
August 2, 2002 - Associated
Press reports Ricky Martin heads the list of five winners of the 16th annual
Hispanic Heritage Awards to be presented September 20th at the John F.
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. On October 12th, many NBC stations
will broadcast the hourlong Kennedy Center ceremony. Read more.
July 22, 2002 - The National
Enquirer reports Ricky Martin was spotted buying baby clothes at the Old
Navy store in Los Angeles. Martin bought up several hundred dollars worth
of merchandise, shocking moms at the store.
July 18, 2002 - RickyFanForum
administration met with Ricky Martin’s management and were advised that
RickyFan.com is no longer his official site. In addition, Ricky's new English
CD should be out in November while a Spanish CD should drop about four
months later. Martin plans on touring in the Summer of 2003. Read more.
July 14, 2002 - Ricky Martin
tells the New York Post that contrary to rumors, he has no problems with
Sony boss Tommy Mottola. He also is scoffing at Michael Jackson's claim
that Mottola is racist. "They've done an amazing, outstanding job for me
all over the world," Martin said of Sony. "Tommy has always been my friend.
He's been there unconditionally for me, 24/7." As for the specific racism
charges, "Really I don't think it has any foundation," he said. "I've met
Michael a few times, and I wish him the best. But I have no idea why he
