June 29, 2003 - WENN reports
Ricky Martin has hit out at reports he's planning to marry and have kids
with Mexican TV star Rebecca De Alba. Martin said, "I will continue defending
the relationship I have had for many years with Rebecca. I insist that
she is a marvelous woman, and I want to have her in my life forever, and
that will be. Whether Rebecca and I decide to be parents is something that's
nobody's business."

June 14, 2003 - Lauren McMenemy
of the Advertiser reviewed Ricky Martin's latest effort 'Almas Del Silencio'
and wasn't impressed. McMenemy said the album is "not particularly good.
It's full of soulless ballads and bad flamenco pop." She added, "This is
the real Ricky Martin, back to his roots. But have music fans passed him
by, said adios and moved on to the Enriques of this world? He'll still
be
huge in South America, and maybe that's all he's asking for these days."

June 12, 2003 - The Sun reports

June 9, 2003 - An inside
source tells the New York Daily News that poor sales on Ricky Martin's
last English album 'Sound Loaded' have meant his label Sony isn't cutting
the singer any slack. His next English album was pushed from July to perhaps
March 2004. "[After] Tommy Mottola was fired, [new Sony CEO] Andy Lack
went through the books to see who was selling and who wasn't," the insider
revealed. "The brass at Columbia wasn't feeling some of the [English] songs
he wrote on the new album. They told him they were going to hold off on
that CD, but they needed something to put out to keep him topical." That's
the reason the insider claims his Spanish album 'Almas del Silencio' was
bumped up, not Martin's claim that he "changed his mind." Read more.

June 3, 2003 - Ricky Martin
tells Billboard his new album 'Almas del Silencio' was released instead
of an English language album when the singer changed his mind. "I woke
up five months ago, and I said, 'We're doing an album in Spanish,"' Martin
recalled. "Everyone went nuts. They said, 'You don't have time; you have
to release an album in English because of timing issues with your career.'
And that's fine. But I told them, 'In five months, you'll have a kick-ass
album'." Now, the new English album is on hold until March 2004. Read more.
June 1, 2003 - Ricky Martin
recently chatted with Cosmopolitan en espanol magazine and was asked why
he thought so many people were interested in his private life. "Because
there's nothing bad to talk about and they want to look for something that
doesn't exists," Martin explained. "They say: 'he has to fail in some aspect...
anywhere'. But they don't know how bothering is that. You feel violated,
because the intimacy, the sexuality, must be untouchable. The sexuality
is the most vulnerable point of each human being. Because of that, when
a magazine says who's with who, gossip sells and the picture of the paparazzi...
(Laughters) In my case, there's not even that pic or anything to be said,
good or bad, from my personal life, neither with who I am. Maybe that's
why they hold too much on this. Sometimes, some of them don't have a life
and they want to live mine, or even worse, inventing mine!" Read the entire
translated interview here.
