April 23, 2003 - WENN reports
Aussie singer/actress Holly Valance has been tapped to replace Sarah Michelle
Gellar on 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'. An industry insider said, "Holly
watches 'Buffy' and realizes this is a high profile opportunity. She has
said that she wants to get away from her lad's mag pin-up image and this
is a good halfway house for her. Plus she gets to fight off bloodsuckers
and ghouls in a fun role."
April
4, 2003 - The New York Post reports Seventeen magazine may have gone overboard
when it tried to disguise a stock photo of Sarah Michelle Gellar with digital
alterations via Photoshop. Gellar thought she looked other-worldly on the
May cover. Her lawyer, Marty Singer, told WWD: "It looks like an alien
foot attached to her arm." Then Seventeen compounded its sins by sending
Gellar, an animal-rights advocate, a $3,445 green ostrich-skin Prada bag.
One insider snickered, "What they should have gotten was a Birkin bag"
- which is even more expensive. "If you're going to try to make up with
her, at least make it the best." Singer said the bag is being returned.
April 3, 2003 - WENN reports
Simon Cowell had the honor of meeting Sarah Michelle Gellar recently, but
the American Idol judge failed to recognize her. "We were talking and I
honestly hadn't got a clue who she was," Simon admitted. "She was saying
how much she loves American Idol and how she was a fan of mine. Then she
asked me to sign an autograph for her. I had to say, 'Sorry, what was your
name?' and someone else who was standing with us said, 'That's Sarah Michelle
Gellar' I said, 'Who?' and they said 'She plays Buffy!' I said, 'Sorry,
you've lost me.' They had to explain to me who she was."
March 13, 2003 - Cindy Adams
writes Thursday, "Sarah Michelle Gellar, today's natural image as a fit
young woman, is a beauty who maintains a clean healthy fitness regime.
Spokesperson for Maybelline, she depicts products geared toward young ladies
who want a fresh, natural appearance not a phony "done" one. And any bozo
who alleges dumb things to the contrary - as if suggesting maybe cosmetic
surgery, like a source did in this column last week - doesn't know what
they are talking about."
